PRESIDENCY
BOKO HARAM AND THE TERROR LIST - The State Department maintains a list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations. The Boko Haram, which murders Christians almost daily, is not on that list. Despite major bombings of churches in Nigeria on Christmas and Easter the Obama Administration's State Department continues to claim that the Islamist Boko Haram is "not motivated by religion." This week I met with congressmen and Senators to request a letter of demand to Obama's Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, that the Boko Haram be added to the Foreign Terrorist Organizations list. I will keep you informed.
STATE DEPARTMENT BLOCKS EFFORTS TO CONDEMN BOKO HARAM - The House Subcommittee on Homeland Security has urged that Boko Haram be designated a terrorist group but Obama's State Department is doing everything possible to sabotage the effort. The lies are coming fast and thick. In the New York Times, Jean Herskovitz wrote an op-ed insisting that there was no Boko Haram, suggesting instead that random criminal gangs were really responsible for the mass murder of Christians. CONGRESS

DEFENDING CROSS AT CAMP PENDLETON - Rep. Randy Forbes (R-VA), founder and Co-Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus, was on the Mike Huckabee radio show this week defending two memorial crosses at Camp Pendleton. The Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers (MAFF) is threatening to file a lawsuit if the crosses are not removed from the military base, where they sit atop a hill as a memorial to fallen service members. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM FOR CHAPLAINS - Military chaplains representing the majority of denominations face career penalties for expressing sincerely held religious or moral beliefs on same-sex marriage. There are no conscience or religious freedom protections for chaplains and the Obama Administration supports open homosexuality in the military. Support is needed for the Military Religious Freedom Protection Act. A vote on the bill may come on April 29th. Please contact your congressman today.

RELIGION AND CULTURE
MUSLIMS SHOULD NOT BE COPS IN USA - The Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA) cautioned American Muslims in a 22-page Arabic-language paper in 2008 against working in law enforcement in countries which do not rule by Allah's dictates. One of their main concerns was that such work might cause Muslims to gain love and respect for secular laws. It is not often I agree with a Muslim group, but I also do not think Muslims should be in law enforcement. Read more
AIR FORCE: NO BIBLES NEEDED - After receiving a complaint by the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers (MAAF), the Air Force removed "Is a Bible provided?" from the checklist that staff at Air Force Inns use when ensuring that rooms comply with lodging standards. Air Force Inns are temporary lodging facilities found at most major Air Force installations.

UK "LORD" OFFERS $16 MILLION BOUNTY ON OBAMA AND BUSH - The first Muslim member of the House of Lords has been suspended from his post by the Labour Party after he offered a bounty of $16 million for the capture of Presidents Bush and Obama. He offered the bounty to show his solidarity with a Pakistani terrorist who planned the murderous attack on Bombay Hotels; the terrorist, Hafiz Saeed, is being sought by United States forces. This is the same "Lord" Ahmed who killed a man when he drove his car into him while texting in 2009. He served 12 weeks in jail but the Labour Party stood with the Muslim. Read more
BOKO HARAM KILLS MORE - Gunmen from the Islamist Boko Haram killed at least seven people on Thursday and Friday in attacks in northern Nigeria. The media reports the victims as "civilians," but the attacks were against Christian businesses including a water vendor and a bakery. Meanwhile the Boko Haram issued a statement that they would kill Nigeria's' Christian president within three months, and the U.S. government warned of a large scale attack in the Nigerian capital.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION: KILLING CHRISTIANS IS NOT RELIGIOUS VIOLENCE - Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson said Monday that "religion is not driving extremist violence" in Nigeria--just one day after a Christian church conducting an Easter service was targeted by a car bombing that left 38 dead. Similarly, on Christmas Day, the Nigerian Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram, attacked a Catholic church in that country, killing more than 40 people. Read more
OBAMA WILL NOT EVEN CONDEMN SLAUGHTER OF CHRISTIANS - In my weekly update on Good Friday I predicted attacks on Easter Sunday at churches in Nigeria, Pakistan or even Egypt. Thanks to tight security at Egyptian churches, there were no successful attacks there, but 38 were killed in a car bombing of a church in Nigeria. There has been no condemnation for the attacks on Christian churches from the White House and indeed, a State Department spokesman has more or less let the terrorist group Boko Haram off the hook. For some reason, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton refuses to add the Boko Haram to the official list of terrorist organizations.

ATHEISTS: TAKE DOWN MARINE MEMORIAL - Originally erected back in 2003 by seven Marines grieving over lives lost in the war on terror, this site originally established for reflection has now become grounds for controversy. "It's not a religious spot at all, it's a place for the Marines to grieve and to grow to let go of their burdens of what they had in their soul, so they can go back down that hill and back into battle and put their own lives on the line," says Marine widow Karen Mendoza. TURKEY TOPS IN HONOR KILLINGS - Since 2009 the number of honor killings in the "moderate" Islamic nation of Turkey has increased by 700%, officially topping 1,000 in the last year. Unofficially there are probably many times that number, as the nation is now ruled for the first time in its history by an Islamist Party. Expect a rise in honor killings in Egypt next, thanks to the United States having installed the Muslim Brotherhood as the new rulers. Read more
ANOTHER NATION FALLING TO SHARIA - Islamic militants fighting alongside Tuareg rebels in northern Mali are trying to impose strict Sharia law in Timbuktu. According to one resident of the ancient town, Islamists belonging to the Ansar Dine faction told local radio stations to stop playing international music. They also issued broadcasts telling women to ditch trousers for skirts and dresses. Read more 
ANOTHER CHRISTIAN JAILED IN PAKISTAN - The mother of a 6-month-old girl has been wrongly jailed for more than a month, as Pakistani authorities have failed to file a charge sheet within the mandatory 14-day period against the young Christian woman falsely accused of "blaspheming" the prophet of Islam, her attorney said. THE PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA APOLOGIZES FOR QUR'AN BURNING BUT BIBLE BURNING OK - In 2009 several boxes of Holy Bibles were burned at the Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan because they were in the native Afghan language. There was a fear that rather than be given to Afghan Christians that they could be used to "convert Muslims. As news agencies reported the story, not once was the word "holy" used in front of the word Bible. This week President Barack Obama crawled forward to apologize for the burning of a couple of Qur'ans that were defaced by Muslims in an effort to pass escape plans to one another at a prison at Bagram Air Base. Does anyone see a double standard here? Two Americans were killed and five wounded by an Afghan soldier for "revenge." No apology from the Afghan government and none requested by President Obama. The message to Islamic terrorists: "No need to apologize for murder in the name of Islam but as a nation we will crawl on our knees and kiss your butts to apologize if we inadvertently harm your precious Qur'an."
HAVING IT BOTH WAYS - This week President Obama said issuing permits for oil exploration in the United States would bring no relief from high gas prices because it would take many years for the oil to reach the market. He then said that oil production had increased in the United States over the three years of his Administration. Thus, Obama takes credit for permits issued during the Bush Administration but refuses to increase permits that would bring more oil production during a Santorum presidency.
CONGRESS 

CONGRESS IN RECESS - The Congress was officially in recess this past week and will return to Capitol Hill on February 27th.. Some reality here - Congressmen work seven days a week. When not on Capitol Hill they work from offices in their districts. For example, there is only one congressman for all of North Dakota and he must travel the entire vast state to visit constituent offices. When not working on Capitol Hill or dealing with constituents in their districts, they are raising funds for re-election. The media loves to blast congressmen for "doing nothing" but the reality is that they put in twice the hours of any news man reporting on them.

US JUDGE: MUSLIM ATTACK ON ATHEIST OK - This may seem an odd place to find a post from American Atheists, although it does prove the point that atheists in the United States should thank God the nation has a Judeo-Christian culture. An atheist in Pennsylvania was attacked by a Muslim for mocking Mohammed and had the misfortune to find his case against the Muslim being heard in front of a Muslim judge. The judge dismissed the case against the Muslim and lectured the atheist for insulating Mohammed telling him that in other nations he would die for his crime. Read more
DECISION A WARNING TO CONTRACEPTIVE MANDATE - A federal court in Tacoma, Washington, struck down a Washington law that requires pharmacists to dispense the morning-after pill even when doing so would violate their religious beliefs. The court held that the law violates the First Amendment right to free exercise of religion. Read more

MORE DEAD IN NIGERIA - The Boko Haram carried out bomb attacks and shootings targeting the police headquarters in two Nigerian cities, killing 17 people, police and media reports said on Saturday. In the city of Gombe the Boko Haram attack while attempting to free other terrorists from jail killed 12 people. In a separate incident brave Muslim men slit the throat of a 79-year-old woman and wrote a threatening note to other Christians on her chest. There were virtually no reports of the hundreds of terrorist murders by Muslims last week as President Barack Obama grovelled before the Afghan Taliban begging their forgiveness for the burning of a defaced Qur'an containing terrorist messages.
TIME OFF FOR MUSLIMS BUT NOT CHRISTIANS IN UK- A Christian care worker from the U.K. claims that she was discriminated against when she was not allowed accommodations from her employers for her beliefs while her Muslim co-worker was treated differently. Celestina Mba is suing the London Borough of Merton after being forced to resign from her position at the Brightwell Children's Home in 2010 over her desire not to work on Sundays. Read more
MUSLIM ASSOCIATED WITH TERRORISTS WANTS AIRLINE JOB BACK - A 'terrorist sympathizer' linked to a notorious airline bomb plot is claiming he was unfairly sacked as a British Airways baggage handler because of his religion. Counter terrorist police found an apparent plan to groom Shahzada Khan to place a package on a plane bound for America. Note: In Minneapolis and Detroit a large percentage of airline baggage handlers and cleaners are Muslims born outside the United States.Read more

PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA IGNORES GENOCIDE - Intelligence agencies have furnished compelling information to President Barrack Obama that the Muslim government of the Sudan is killing thousands of Christians in the Nuba Mountains. Mass murdering dictator Omar Hassan al-Bashir is moving 14 trucks loaded with chemical weapons to the Nuba Mountains in preparation for mass murder. Al-Bashir was charged with genocide by an international tribunal because of his actions in Darfur where he killed other Muslims, but Europe and the United States do not seem to have a problem when the victims of mass murder are Christians. Obama, who has supported the "Arab Spring" in Egypt, Libya and elsewhere, does not seem bothered by the wholesale murder of Christians in Africa.

NO "HOSTILITIES" IN LIBYA? - The daily bombings of Tripoli by our military, the attacks on the Libyan army and the tens of millions of dollars spent on munitions do not constitute "hostilities" and as a result, says President Obama, he does not have to seek authority to continue the war there under the War Powers Act. "It's bizarre that the administration has sent over a letter yesterday referring to the fact that we're not involved in hostilities in Libya," Senator Corker, (R-TN), said on the Senate floor. "I mean it's really totally bizarre when you look at what's going on right now in the air in Libya right now." Senator McCain, (R-AZ)., called yesterday's report from the administration a "confusing breach of common sense," and a "puzzling assertion." Senator Corker and Senator Jim Webb, (D-VA) introduced a bill requiring a "detailed justification" of the US operation in Libya from the administration. Even Democrats are astonished at Obama's disregard for Congressional oversight.

THE CONGRESS 

INTERSTATE ABORTION BAN - CIANA, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, would prohibit a person who is not a parent knowingly taking a minor across state lines with the intent of obtaining an abortion, if it evades a parental involvement law in the minor's home state. CIANA also requires abortionists to notify parents at least 24 hours before performing an abortion on an out-of-state minor. The bill in the past has been introduced in both the House and Senate, but has failed under Democrat leaders. Senators Orrin Hatch (R-UT) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) are sponsoring the bill in the Senate. Although the bill will no be filed until June 21, please contact your Senators now and ask them to co-sponsor CIANA.

BLOCK PRO-ABORTION JUDGE - Both Republican Senators from Kansas, Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran, oppose the nomination of Steve Six by President Obama to the U.S. Court of Appeals. Pro-abortion former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius appointed Six to district judge in 2005, and then appointed him as a replacement state Attorney General in 2007. During his time as Attorney General, rather than enforcing laws against late term abortions, Six actually assisted abortionists. Read the details at Kansans for Life. THE WEINER HOUSE - When Anthony Weiner announced his resignation at a Senior Center in New York and some New Yorkers present actually cheered. Democrat leaders on Capitol Hill including Nancy Pelosi were relieved that the disturbed radical left congressman with sex twitting issues was gone. Anthony Weiner was best known nationally for his vicious personal attacks on Republicans, particularity women and Jews. Weiner, who claimed to be a Jew is married to a Muslim. Since no Rabbi would officiate his wedding it was done by none other than former President Bill Clinton. That along probably doomed the marriage.

ATHEIST NEWDOW DEFEATED AGAIN -This week the Supreme Court rejected atheist activist Michael Newdow's latest lawsuit challenging the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance, this time after he lost in the First Circuit Count of Appeals in Boston. In March, the Supreme Court rejected Newdow's appeal from his loss in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. My book, The Pledge: One Nation Under God, which details the history of the Pledge, retails for $14.99 but is now on sale for $7.99. In the book I present the arguments for "under God" in the Pledge and debunk Newdow's claims.

SEVENTH GRADERS FORCED TO TAKE SEX SURVEY - Seventh graders in a Massachusetts school were asked, "Have you ever had oral sex?" in a survey that had other graphic language which I cannot repeat here. The students were asked what they used to prevent pregnancy in their "last sexual encounter." The school admits it was graphic but says they had to administer it as part of a grant from the Department of Education. The Rutherford Institute is filing a complaint on behalf of the mother of two girls attending the Fitchburg School District. Read more

UK ATHEIST SPEAKS OUT ON 'CULTURAL TERRORISM' - In the United States, atheists, gays, liberal professors and feminists all line up to support Islam and sharia law. Oddly, these are the first groups that will be either beheaded, hung or stoned to death in a Muslim takeover. Huffpost and the rest of the liberal media are all for Islam and sharia law simply because conservatives oppose a dual legal system in the United States that would weaken the Constitution. Whatever conservatives are against, the left must be for. However, the liberals in the United Kingdom are starting to feel the whip of Islam. One atheist who has stood consistently against the Islamization of Britain is Pat Condell and he is not afraid to criticize his fellow liberals. RELEASE ASIA BIBI NOW - Pakistani Christians are demanding the release of Asia Bibi, mother of five, who has been falsely accused of blasphemy and jailed for nearly two years. THE PRESIDENT

NEW IRAQI REFUGEE POLICY- The Bush Administration has somewhat changed its policy toward Iraqi refugees who have worked for Coalition forces. As reported by the Religious Freedom Coalition fact finding mission in October, all Iraqi refugees had to go through the United Nations before being interviewed at one of our embassies. In other words the UN decides who should be interviewed for refugee status. Further, our embassy in Iraq would take no applications at all. Iraqis had to flee Iraq to apply to come to the USA. The Administration has now ordered that State Department employees in Baghdad can apply there. The policy will take effect in about one month and really only apply to a few hundred people. Unfortunately, all those who have fled Iraq or do not work for the State Department must rely on the United Nations for assistance.

STEM CELL VINDICATION- In 2001 I received a short note from President George W. Bush thanking me for being one of the few who supported his stem cell research policy. He refused to allow the continued creation of human embryos destined only to be destroyed in the laboratory and their stem cells extracted. This ban angered liberals, but the President's allowing the use of existing lines of stem cells angered many conservatives. HOUSE IN RECESS - The House went into recess on Thursday for Thanksgiving and will not return until December 3rd.

GREAT PRO-LIFE CHAMPION PASSES - It was just last year that Congressman Henry Hyde left the Congress of the United States after 32 years of service. Following the Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortion in the United States, he became the single greatest champion of the pro-life movement, giving eloquent speeches. Mr. Hyde's efforts against abortion began in 1976, when his amendment to an appropriations bill prohibited Medicaid from paying for abortions. Known as the Hyde Amendment, it is still the law today. The world will miss this great pro-life champion.

THE SENATE

ANOTHER GOP SENATOR LEAVES- Senator Trent Lott (R-MS) has announced that he is resigning his seat from the Senate. He did not intend to run for this current term, but did anyway to help get federal funds for his home state after the Katrina disaster. His own home was lost to Katrina and he is not a wealthy man as are most Senators. He will take a position with a lobbying firm in DC that pays probably triple his Senate salary. Republican Governor Haley Barber will appoint his successor.

THE ATHEIST'S DAY IN COURT- On Tuesday, December 4, 2007 the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, otherwise known as the Nutty Ninth, will hear atheist Michael Newdow's latest lawsuit to have "under God" removed from the Pledge to our flag. JUST PUT EVERYONE IN JAIL - A court in Sudan has sentenced a British elementary school teacher to 15 days in prison and deportation on charges of inciting religious hatred. British citizen Gillian Gibbons, who had been teaching in Sudan just since August, allowed her class of 7-year-olds to name a teddy bear "Mohammed" as part of a school project. UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband expressed his "concern" and not much more. Gibbons could have faced longer jail time plus lashes on the back. Not a single feminist organization, teachers' union or liberal "civil rights" group has spoken up on this outrage. Click here for UK Times story.

THE PRESIDENT
RELIGIOUS RIGHT TO FORM "3rd PARTY?- Several Christian conservative leaders have openly advocated the formation of a third political party because of the lead in the presidential race held by pro-abortion, pro-gay mayor Rudy Giuliani. A Washington Times front page story on the movement was titled "Religious Right Aims to Hurt GOP. I have confidential information that the group is attempting to recruit a Christian billionaire who is unknown and has no public record of positions to run for president.MEANWHILE: Governor Mike Huckabee, a former Baptist minister, has moved well ahead of Senator John McCain in Iowa and is solidly in third place. (Check Real Clear Politics) In New Hampshire he is now tied with former Senator Fred Thompson. Why won't James Dobson consider backing Mike Huckabee? You ask him, he doesn't return my phone calls.

THE ADMINISTRATION, 3COM and CHINA - A Chinese company with ties to that communist nation's military is trying to buy an American company that holds the keys to the Pentagon's communications system. Oddly, American businessmen don't seem to have a problem with this as long as money is made on the deal. Now, Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson has recused himself from the government review of the merger because of his past relationship with the investment firm that put the deal together. Contact your congressman and Senators and share your thoughts on our national security being sold to a Chinese company.

THE PRESIDENT TO VETO DEFENSE BILL - It is very rare for a President to veto a Defense Authorization particularly during war time. Yet the White House has issued an SAP (Statement of Administration Policy) giving the reasons why the President intends to veto the bill. The press is reporting that the President has "yielded" to the Christian right because Senator Kennedy has placed special rights for homosexuals in the authorization. HOWEVER: When I read the SAP I found no mention of a veto because of a "hate crimes" amendment. Check here for full copy of White House SAP

THE HOUSE
PLEDGE PROTECTION ACT - Congressmen Todd Akin (R-MO) has begun a major push to pass the Pledge Protection Act. ( Read his letter) The act would protect the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance. In the last Congress we had 196 co-sponsors and so far this year we have 107. San Francisco radical Nancy Pelosi can block a vote unless we reach 218 cosponsors for a discharge petition. Is your congressman one of the 107 backing the PPA? (See list) If not, contact your congressman now and ask him to support HR- 699, the Pledge Protection Act.

THE SENATE
LAW OF THE SEA - The Bush Administration is rushing a United Nations treaty through the Senate that would give the UN authority over the stream that runs past my back yard. WHAT DID I SAY? The stream in my back yard runs to the Rappahannock River, which runs to the Chesapeake Bay which opens to the Atlantic Ocean. The treaty gives the United Nations authority to "protect" the environment of the ocean. Not only can I be told by the United Nations not to use pesticides in my lawn, but major manufacturing companies in the United States that "pollute" by the UN's definition, could be shut down as well. In a recent Senate hearing the Democrat Chairman who is pushing the treaty for President Bush allowed just two of nine witnesses who opposed the treaty. SENATE TAKES WEEK OFF - The Senate will take next week off in celebration of Columbus Day. The House will stay in session (For what reason I do not know.)

RELIGION AND CULTURE
THREE GIANT CROSSES - There is a new landmark in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley off Interstate 81. Three crosses, one of which is 150-feet tall, dominate the landscape for motorists in the area. Pastor Jay Ahlemann of the Church of the Valley hopes the Freedom Memorial Park will become a national point of interest just a short drive from the Capitol.
MILLER BEER - Catholic organizations have organized a boycott of Miller Beer because of its sponsorship of a San Francisco homosexual festival that ran an advertisement depicting the Last Supper with Jesus Christ and the Disciples as homosexual sadomasochists. I would join in on the boycott, but I don't drink.

OXYMORON: HUMAN RIGHTS IN SAUDI ARABIA - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the most repressive nation in the world. Not even the brutal dictator of North Korea is as repressive as the Saudi monarchy. Despite this fact the monarchs are to this day protected by American troops because they can't trust any of their own citizens. On October 3rd I spoke at a reception held in the Rayburn House Office Building for the The Center for Democracy and Human Rights in Saudi Arabia. At the event the group unveiled a comprehensive policy paper addressing political/judicial reform in Saudi Arabia, women's rights, religious freedom, and economic reform. CDHR founder, Dr. Ali Alyami, is a Saudi. If he were to return to that nation he would be hung without trial.

SYRIA CLOSES BORDER TO REFUGEES - Syria says it has absorbed more than one million Iraqi refugees and cannot support any more. About 200,000 of those are Christians who have fled persecution in Iraq. The cost to Syria last year was $2.5 billion dollars. We consider Syria a terrorist state and an enemy. Meanwhile our ally in the region, Saudi Arabia, will accept no Iraqi refugees at all.
