Obama: Force doctors to do abortions / Obama: Give more tax dollars to other nations / What does this stimulate? / Senate stops "fairness doctrine" for now / Hillary Clinton and the Congress / Hillary says human rights abuse OK in China / Congressmen move to protect pro-life "riders" / Geert Wilders is a hero of free speech / Wilders speaks to Senators / Jordan wants to try Wilders / Why so much worry about Wilders? / Does the UN hate freedom?

THE PRESIDENCY
FORCE DOCTORS TO DO ABORTIONS - President Barack Obama will revoke a Bush administration rule that shielded health care workers who refuse to participate in abortions because of their pro-life beliefs. The rule, issued by Bush health chief Michael Leavitt, prohibited groups that take U.S. money from firing, denying professional certification to or otherwise discriminating against medical providers who refuse to perform or assist in abortions, or give referral information. At first glace this seems like a reversal of policy; however, the Bush rule only took effect a few hours before Barack Obama was sworn into office. Why did Bush wait eight years to implement this rule? Had Bush issued the rule the first year of his Administration, it would have been very difficult for Obama to rescind it.Read more

THIS IS A STIMULUS? - Under the $787 billion Stimulus Bill, you can write off the state sales tax on a new car you buy this year. How it works: If the tax on the car is say, $750 you can deduct it from your adjusted gross income. If you are in the 25% tax bracket you would then pay $187.50 less in income tax. WOW ... just spend $25,000 on a new car and the government pays $187.50 of the cost!

MORE MONEY TO OTHER NATIONS - As bad as things are in the United States, most people would think that President Obama's new budget should focus on America. Well, it doesn't. The State Department budget, including USAID funds and other overseas aid programs, was increased by 40.9% to $51.7 billion. The Health and Human Services budget that includes Medicaid for the poor was actually reduced by President Obama by 1.7%. The Justice Department, which includes the FBI, will receive 6.3% less at a time it must investigate massive financial fraud. However, the Commerce Budget to will increase by 48.4% as a result of refocusing the department on "climate change." See graph at WSJ.com

THE CONGRESS
FAIRNESS DOCTRINE - Last week I reported that President Obama claimed he was against the return of censorship in the form of the "Fairness Doctrine." That did not stop a Democrat, Senator Durbin, from trying to add language to the DC Voting Rights Act to allow the FCC to once again censor radio. However, Senator DeMint (R-SC) introduced a competing amendment that would bar the FCC from censorship, titled the Broadcaster Freedom Act. The DeMint bill passed 87 to 11. At this point it is unknown if this will survive the House vote. Read more

HILLARY CLINTON AND THE CONGRESS - Members of Congress were appalled when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear to the Chinese and others that the Obama Administration would look away from human rights abuses in order to borrow money to fund US deficit spending.

"In a shocking display of pandering, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made it clear in Beijing, that the Obama Administration has chosen to peddle U.S. debt to the largest dictatorship in the world and is willing to ignore the torture, forced abortion, forced labor, religious persecution, human sex trafficking, gendercide, and genocide," Congressman Chris Smith said. "Secretary Clinton said concern for the protection of human rights of the Chinese people can't 'interfere' with the economic crisis, climate change, and security - as if human rights were somehow disconnected and irrelevant to those issues." Congressman Wolf of Virginia, who is an outspoken supporter of religious freedom, also wrote Secretary Clinton a blistering letter. Read PDF version here

The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender. Prov. 22:7. America is the borrower. China and Saudi Arabia are the lenders.

CONGRESSMEN MOVE TO PROTECT PRO-LIFE RIDERS - Representatives Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Heath Shuler (D-NC) have obtained 180 signatures form Members of the House to the Appropriations Committee asking for protection of pro-life provisions traditionally included in the annual appropriations bills. These are contained in various appropriations bills and must be retained every year to remain in place. The provisions deal with issues such as funding for abortion, conscience protection for health care providers and embryo research. Removing any of these provisions would represent an erosion of current pro-life law. Read PDF of Jim Jordan authored letter here.

Geert Wilders and William J Murray GEERT WILDERS IS A TRUE HERO - This week I met with Geert Wilders, a Member of the Dutch Parliament who is threatened with jail time for telling the truth about Islam and the Koran in his short film FITNA. For five years this brave man has been forced to sleep in safe-houses and sometimes jail cells because he is virtually the only politician in the West that will speak truthfully about the dangers of Islam to the West. He was invited to the United States by Senator Kyl (R-AZ) after the United Kingdom refused to allow him to accept an invitation to speak at the House of Lords. The British have become such cowards that they fear the words of free men such as Geert Wilders. (Read my op-ed on the UK and Wilders here.) This man may well be the only hope for Europe and we can only pray that his political party gains strength not only in the Netherlands but in the European Parliament as well. Read his speech to Congress. NEW: View the question I ask Geert Wilders at a press conference on Friday as well as his response. See clip on YouTube.

JORDAN WANTS TO PUNISH WILDERS - Not only is Geert Wilders under indictment for "hate speech" in the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Jordan wants him to be extradited to that nation to stand trial for "blasphemy." The punishment of course is death. The United States considers the Kingdom of Jordan to be a "moderate" Islamic State. Imams in other Islamic nations have issued Fatwas calling for the murder of Geert Wilders. The government of the Netherlands cowers in fear of their Muslim population as do other Western nations.

THE UN HATES FREEDOM - Let's get real here ... Most of the member states of the United Nations are not real democracies. The Islamic members allow the abuse of women and have virtually no free speech. Durban II is an upcoming United Nations conference to he held on "anti-racism." It appears the conference will find that Israel is racist while Saudi Arabia is just all wonderful. They will probably also declare that insulting Islam is "defamation of religion" and punishable. Why are we a part of this madness? Read more

Obama against "Fairness Doctrine" promoted by Nancy Pelosi / Obama's new radical pro-abortion HHS choice / Speaker in Europe on taxpayer dime/ Pelosi and the Pope / Congress and the Stimulus / Charges for abortion clinic murder in Florida? / Darwin, Sanger and Hitler / Problems for Evangelicals in Jordan / Is this what we are fighting for in Afghanistan?

NEW CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - February 12th edition now available! Click here for PDF!

THE PRESIDENCY
OBAMA AND THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE - Although radical left Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants to restrict free speech by imposing a "Fairness Doctrine," it appears that President Obama is opposed to it for political reasons. Of course Pelosi simply wants to rid the air waves of Christian and conservative broadcasters such as Dr. James Dobson. But Obama realized it would be impossible to implement the "Fairness Doctrine" without also endangering the left-wing television media that supports him 100%. "As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated," said White House spokesman Ben LaBolt this week.

OBAMA'S PRO-ABORTION HHS PICK - A radical pro-abortionist, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, is being reported as the front-runner as President Barack Obama's pick to head Health And Human Services (HHS). The post is still empty, since Obama's first pick, former Senator Tom Daschle, withdrew because of tax issues. (He failed to pay them.) Daschle was a radical pro-abortionist who promoted socialized medicine. The new pick, Gov. Sebelius, has accepted funding from one abortionist who has been under investigation for deaths at his clinic. In April 2007, the abortionist, Dr. Tiller and his entire staff were hosted by Governor Sebelius at a party held at the governor's mansion. Read More. The anti-life atmosphere at the White House is becoming more and more apparent.

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESS ADJOURNED - Congress went into adjournment for the week to celebrate President's Day and to give our radical Speaker of the House time to tour Europe in the aircraft furnished to her at taxpayer expense. See below

THE POPE AND PELOSI- . Radical leftist Nancy Pelosi is third in line for the Presidency behind Vice President Biden. The Air Force provided her with a large passenger jet for the trip to Europe, and she has Secret Service protection everywhere she goes. As such an important person, when she requested to meet with the Pope this week he had to oblige her out of courtesy, but he took steps to make sure she did not use the visit as a publicity stunt. Pope Benedict allowed no news media and no photographs of the meeting. He did not want pro-abortionist Nancy Pelosi to use the photo to prove she is a good Catholic, something the Pope does not believe. During the meeting the Pope chastised her for her support of killing babies in the womb.

CONGRESS AND THE STIMULUS - The Stimulus will probably not work simply because of the size of our economy. In the last 18 months, between $12 and $20 trillion of wealth has been lost in the United States by the drop in value of equities and property. Some 401K and IRA accounts are now worth about half of what they were in 2007. Bottom line: $800 billion cannot replace $20 trillion. Someone who lost $12,000 in an investment is not going to take a government check for $800, issued to him only if he buys expensive "green" heat pumps for his house or a brand new car . Offering tax cuts of ten cents for every dollar people spend will just not get them to buy what they don't need. The economy will have to sort itself out. All the Stimulus does is increase the debt of our children and grandchildren while adding anti-Christian programs that our government will fund.

CHARGES IN ABORTION CLINIC MURDER? - The Florida House of Representatives issued a letter this week to the State Attorney calling for criminal charges because of the murder of a viable baby born alive at a Hialeah abortion clinic. Shanice Denise Osbourne was delivered by an abortion worker who cut the baby's umbilical cord and stuffed her in a trash bag while she was moving and struggling to breathe. The worker then stashed the baby's body on the abortion clinic roof to hide it. Read more

DARWIN, SANGER AND HITLER - What do Charles Darwin; his cousin Sir Francis Galton; Margaret Sanger, the founder opf Planned Parenthood; and Adolph Hitler have in common? It is the concept of the survival of the fittest, the Darwinian theory that led to sterilizations in the United States and then in Hitler's Germany. Read this very succinct article on the connection.

PROBLEMS IN JORDAN - Our base for assisting Iraqi Christian refugees is located in Amman, Jordan. Troubling new laws have been passed by the Jordanian government that may affect the Religious Freedom Coalition, evangelical churches and even NGO's of Catholic and Orthodox churches. Even the right of the church to marry couples is now in doubt. Under the new Law of Associations, groups must submit a plan for their activities before receiving funds from abroad. There is a chance the Jordanian government may stop our funding of projects for Iraqi Christians. Also, in January the Jordanian government issued a decree that only the Council of Churches (Greek Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Roman Catholic and Armenian Orthodox Churches) can speak on behalf of Jordanian Christians. Thus Evangelical churches are now without a voice. These are ominous changes in the behavior of a government that has in the past expressed some secular values but now appears to be appeasing Muslim extremists.

DEATH FOR BIBLE TRANSLATION? - No ... but in Afghanistan the death sentence is handed out for translating the Koran. Because of the intervention of President Bush, the sentences of two men were reduced to twenty years in prison. An appeals court this week upheld the 20-year prison sentences for Ahmad Ghaws Zalmai, a former spokesman for the attorney general, and Mushtaq Ahmad, a Muslim cleric who signed a letter endorsing the translation. They will probably die in prison. American and European soldiers are fighting and dying to help enforce these kinds of "moderate" Islamic laws in Afghanistan. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY
OBAMA AND FREE SPEECH - Free speech died in Europe this week and President Barack Obama said nothing. Perhaps he said nothing because be plans the same repression of free speech in the United States as has occurred in the United Kingdom. A member of the Dutch Parliament was refused entry into the UK because he would disturb, "community harmony." Is this next for America and does it start with the "Fairness Doctrine?" Click here to read the Geert Wilders speech that U.K. government officials are so afraid of. If Wilders had been a pornographic author, both 10 Downing Street and the White House would be defending his right of free speech. How truly sad.

REVEALING CHOICE FOR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT - President Obama has nominated David Ogden as the deputy to Attorney General Eric Holder. This is an outrageous choice in that Ogden is an "absolutist" when it comes to abortion and pornography. He believes there should be no limit to on-demand abortions, he supports pornography producers, and he insists that libraries be forced to provide computers to those who desire to view porn. The final irony --his office would be in charge of enforcing federal laws regarding pornography. How does that work? Read this thorough white paper on Ogden.

THE CONGRESS
Geert Wilders SPEAKING OUT FOR FREE SPEECH- Every congressman and Senator should have reacted with outrage at the expulsion from the United Kingdom of Dutch member of parliament Geert Wilders. I am astonished by the cowardice not only of the British government, but of our own elected officials who have failed to speak out. Wilders' expulsion was a line drawn in the sand that represents the end of Western civilization and the introduction of Sharia Law by intimidation in Europe and the United States. If good men will not stand to defend Geert Wilders and his right of free speech, in the end all of us will become slaves of Islam.

A THOUSAND PAGES OF STIMULUS - What is in the Stimulus Bill? No one knows for sure. The bill was delivered to the offices of congressmen by the Democrat leadership at 11:00 PM last night after most of them were home in bed. The bill has more than 1,000 pages and congressmen are expected to vote on it less than 18 hours after receiving it. Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) made a short clip on YouTube of himself thumbing though the bill, some of which is actually hand written. View clip here.

YOUR HEALTH AND THE STIMULUS - Under the final Stimulus Bill a "health commission" will be set up to tell doctors what treatment is appropriate and what is not. According to a Bloomberg article, the language in the Stimulus is taken for the most part from a book by former Senator Tom Daschle promoting the rationing of health care. A provision would divide the cost of the treatment by the "remaining years" of life to determine if it is a waste of money. Read more

HAPPY SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY - While Valentine's Day is celebrated throughout the world very few recognize that it is actually a celebration of a 3rd Century Christian martyr. But the Saudi police who enforce Islamic law know all too well it is a Christian celebration. REMEMBERING MUMBAI - Just weeks ago Islamic terrorists killed hundreds during attacks on hotels and train stations in Mumbai, India. There is a firm link between the attacks and Lashkar-e-Taiba and other radical Islamic groups in Kashmir. Saudi Arabia contributes to Lashkar-e-Taiba motivation, ideology, and funding. While promoting itself as a protector of Muslims around the world, Saudi Arabia funds the extremists who murder civilians. The center of Islamic evil in the world today is Wahhabi Saudi Arabia. IS LOYALTY RACIST ? - Unexpectedly, a small political party came in third in Israeli elections, with a platform to pass a law requiring everyone to swear an oath to Israel or lose their citizenship. Some call this racist because the Arabs who live in Israel and now claim citizenship would refuse to swear an oath to the country that they are currently exempt from fighting for. You read that right ... Israeli Arab citizens do not have to serve in the army. Now Avigdor Lieberman, the leader of the small party advocating a loyalty oath, may well determine who leads the next government, since neither of the two larger parties won enough seats to form a government. The End of Free Speech in Great Britain

Friday, February 6, 2009

February 6, 2009 - Washington, DC

Pro-abortion Barack Obama calls for protection of "innocent life?" / Most disagree with Obama's pro-abortion Executive Order / Obama to expand Bush's Faith Based Initiative, but how? / Obama may actually be right about something - Wall Street excess / Stimulus bill money is off limits to religious groups / Stimulating birth control / Christian groups fighting wrong battle with Obama / Babies in a frozen Hell on Earth / Live baby tossed in trash bag / Governor Beasley in Washington to help Iraqi Christians / Christian group kicked out of Sudan

THE PRESIDENCY
THE ABORTION PRESIDENT - Fifty-eight percent of Americans disagreed with President Obama's order to give overseas funding to organizations that provide abortions, according to a new survey. Only thirty-five percent supported him on it. Obama signed the order on Jan. 23, reversing the "Mexico City policy" -- a prohibition first implemented by Ronald Reagan. This policy does not allow government funding to overseas family-planning organizations that perform abortions or offer abortion counseling. Read more

THE FAITH BASED PRESIDENT - is this a joke? President Obama is going to expand the Faith Based outreach started by President Bush - with a few changes - because he is for "separation of church and state." His new Faith Based effort will give funds to religious groups only if they promise to hire people from outside their faith. This means that any Jewish groups accepting the funds will be required to hire Muslims who call for the destruction of Israel. Baptist groups will be forced to hire Mormons, and the Mormons will be forced to hire people who refer to them as a cult. Wow ... Let's all hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

The "PROTECT INNOCENT LIFE" PRESIDENT - Confused? So am I. At the annual National Prayer Breakfast President Obama stunned pro-life religious leaders by saying, "There is no God who condones taking the life of an innocent human being. This much we know." How can he hold this view and also sign an Executive Order giving funds to pro-abortion groups? The logic is simple: Barack Obama does not believe that an unborn baby is a human being. He follows the pro-abortion line that until a baby breathes in air, it has no mother or father; it is just a lump of cells. Read more

OBAMA IS RIGHT ABOUT PAY EXCESSES The Washington Times is the most conservative and pro-business newspaper in the United States and perhaps even the world. Imagine my surprise to see a Washington Times editorial that said President Barack Obama was right to criticize business executives for excessive bonuses. The Times pointed out that while racking up $35 billion in losses for their stockholders, Wall Street executives paid themselves $18.4 billion in bonuses. About half the loss to investors was actually bonus pay. Now that is disgusting, and the Washington Times was right to agree with Barack Obama on this one. Read editorial

THE CONGRESS
STIMULUS EXCLUDES RELIGIOUS GROUPS- There is plenty of "green spending" in the Stimulus bill, including funds for schools and colleges to renovate older buildings or to build new energy efficient buildings. There is a big catch: If the funds are accepted, the buildings cannot be used for any religious purpose. During the 2008 campaign Barack Obama and the Democrats courted religious voters, but now that they are in power they are showing their true secularist colors. Read more

BIRTH CONTROL AS STIMULUS - Apparently the Democrat controlled Congress under radical San Francisco leftist Nancy Pelosi believes that having fewer babies will stimulate the economy. Not only are millions of dollars given to pro-abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood, the rules of the funding undermine families. Under the bill, clinics must give birth control pills and devices to underage girls without consulting their parents. The bill also gives funds to the CDC to fight sexually transmitted diseases, since STD's will increase when birth control pills are handed out like candy at schools. The Democrats call these program "economic stimulus."

CHRISTIAN GROUPS DON'T GET IT - Most social conservative groups are being led around by the nose by the GOP, and so are fuming about the pork in the Stimulus bill and ignoring the anti-family rules that are in it. The Stimulus will pass, and social conservative and pro-life groups are wasting their time trying to stop passage. Instead they should be working hard to change language that is damaging to the traditional family and faith based schools such as in the examples noted above.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
HALF A MILLION BABIES SUSPENDED IN A FROZEN HELL - News of a single mother giving birth to eight babies at once in California stunned the nation, but it should also make us aware of an American practice that is very wrong. In Germany and Italy no more than three embryos may be produced in fertility clinics and all three must be implanted in the mother. In the United States, sometimes dozens are produced, yet few are implanted. There are 500,000 babies frozen in the United States, and no one knows what to do with them. These are the "extra" embryos our fertility doctors have produced. Read more

LIVE BABY TOSSED IN BIO HAZARD BAG - The abortionist was running late to work, and the woman seeking an abortion gave birth to a live baby girl. An employee cut the umbilical cord and tossed the live baby in a trash bag and tied the top. "The baby was just treated as a piece of garbage," said Tom Brejcha, president of The Thomas More Society, the law firm that is also representing the mother who sought the abortion. "People all over the country are just aghast,." he said. Florida authorities are looking into possible criminal charges against the doctor, who was trained in Haiti. Read more

ACTION TO ASSIST IRAQI CHRISTIANS - This week former Governor David Beasley of South Carolina visited Washington to talk with congressional leaders about the plight of Iraqi Christians. Traveling with Governor Beasley was a representative of the Religious Freedom Coalition's ministry partner in Amman, Jordan. Together the two men made the case that the United States must have an official policy toward the religious minorities in Iraq, something that was not done under Secretary of State Rice during the Bush Administration. In addition to one-on-one meetings, Governor Beasley spoke at several meetings to leaders of social conservative organizations who may be able to assist Iraqi Christian refugees. Our ministry partner returned to Jordan with about $48,000 in contributed medical supplies. Please help!

"THIRST NO MORE" KICKED OUT OF SUDAN - A group providing new water wells has been thrown out of Sudan's Darfur region after officials found Arabic-language Bibles in their office. Officials said they had decided to expel the Texas-based group "for its violation to the Voluntary Work Act. A government spokesman said Thirst No More was supposed to be in the war-torn region supplying drinking water and "failed to provide justification" for its ownership of about 3,400 Bibles. Apparently the Sudanese dictatorship has the same view of separation of church and state as President Barack Obama. Read more
