Obama against "Fairness Doctrine" promoted by Nancy Pelosi / Obama's new radical pro-abortion HHS choice / Speaker in Europe on taxpayer dime/ Pelosi and the Pope / Congress and the Stimulus / Charges for abortion clinic murder in Florida? / Darwin, Sanger and Hitler / Problems for Evangelicals in Jordan / Is this what we are fighting for in Afghanistan?

NEW CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - February 12th edition now available! Click here for PDF!

THE PRESIDENCY
OBAMA AND THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE - Although radical left Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi wants to restrict free speech by imposing a "Fairness Doctrine," it appears that President Obama is opposed to it for political reasons. Of course Pelosi simply wants to rid the air waves of Christian and conservative broadcasters such as Dr. James Dobson. But Obama realized it would be impossible to implement the "Fairness Doctrine" without also endangering the left-wing television media that supports him 100%. "As the president stated during the campaign, he does not believe the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated," said White House spokesman Ben LaBolt this week.

OBAMA'S PRO-ABORTION HHS PICK - A radical pro-abortionist, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, is being reported as the front-runner as President Barack Obama's pick to head Health And Human Services (HHS). The post is still empty, since Obama's first pick, former Senator Tom Daschle, withdrew because of tax issues. (He failed to pay them.) Daschle was a radical pro-abortionist who promoted socialized medicine. The new pick, Gov. Sebelius, has accepted funding from one abortionist who has been under investigation for deaths at his clinic. In April 2007, the abortionist, Dr. Tiller and his entire staff were hosted by Governor Sebelius at a party held at the governor's mansion. Read More. The anti-life atmosphere at the White House is becoming more and more apparent.

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESS ADJOURNED - Congress went into adjournment for the week to celebrate President's Day and to give our radical Speaker of the House time to tour Europe in the aircraft furnished to her at taxpayer expense. See below

THE POPE AND PELOSI- . Radical leftist Nancy Pelosi is third in line for the Presidency behind Vice President Biden. The Air Force provided her with a large passenger jet for the trip to Europe, and she has Secret Service protection everywhere she goes. As such an important person, when she requested to meet with the Pope this week he had to oblige her out of courtesy, but he took steps to make sure she did not use the visit as a publicity stunt. Pope Benedict allowed no news media and no photographs of the meeting. He did not want pro-abortionist Nancy Pelosi to use the photo to prove she is a good Catholic, something the Pope does not believe. During the meeting the Pope chastised her for her support of killing babies in the womb.

CONGRESS AND THE STIMULUS - The Stimulus will probably not work simply because of the size of our economy. In the last 18 months, between $12 and $20 trillion of wealth has been lost in the United States by the drop in value of equities and property. Some 401K and IRA accounts are now worth about half of what they were in 2007. Bottom line: $800 billion cannot replace $20 trillion. Someone who lost $12,000 in an investment is not going to take a government check for $800, issued to him only if he buys expensive "green" heat pumps for his house or a brand new car . Offering tax cuts of ten cents for every dollar people spend will just not get them to buy what they don't need. The economy will have to sort itself out. All the Stimulus does is increase the debt of our children and grandchildren while adding anti-Christian programs that our government will fund.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
CHARGES IN ABORTION CLINIC MURDER? - The Florida House of Representatives issued a letter this week to the State Attorney calling for criminal charges because of the murder of a viable baby born alive at a Hialeah abortion clinic. Shanice Denise Osbourne was delivered by an abortion worker who cut the baby's umbilical cord and stuffed her in a trash bag while she was moving and struggling to breathe. The worker then stashed the baby's body on the abortion clinic roof to hide it. Read more

DARWIN, SANGER AND HITLER - What do Charles Darwin; his cousin Sir Francis Galton; Margaret Sanger, the founder opf Planned Parenthood; and Adolph Hitler have in common? It is the concept of the survival of the fittest, the Darwinian theory that led to sterilizations in the United States and then in Hitler's Germany. Read this very succinct article on the connection.

INTERNATIONAL
PROBLEMS IN JORDAN - Our base for assisting Iraqi Christian refugees is located in Amman, Jordan. Troubling new laws have been passed by the Jordanian government that may affect the Religious Freedom Coalition, evangelical churches and even NGO's of Catholic and Orthodox churches. Even the right of the church to marry couples is now in doubt. Under the new Law of Associations, groups must submit a plan for their activities before receiving funds from abroad. There is a chance the Jordanian government may stop our funding of projects for Iraqi Christians. Also, in January the Jordanian government issued a decree that only the Council of Churches (Greek Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Roman Catholic and Armenian Orthodox Churches) can speak on behalf of Jordanian Christians. Thus Evangelical churches are now without a voice. These are ominous changes in the behavior of a government that has in the past expressed some secular values but now appears to be appeasing Muslim extremists.

DEATH FOR BIBLE TRANSLATION? - No ... but in Afghanistan the death sentence is handed out for translating the Koran. Because of the intervention of President Bush, the sentences of two men were reduced to twenty years in prison. An appeals court this week upheld the 20-year prison sentences for Ahmad Ghaws Zalmai, a former spokesman for the attorney general, and Mushtaq Ahmad, a Muslim cleric who signed a letter endorsing the translation. They will probably die in prison. American and European soldiers are fighting and dying to help enforce these kinds of "moderate" Islamic laws in Afghanistan. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY
WHITE HOUSE SAYS NO TO "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE" - Meredith Attwell Baker, the top telecommunications policy advisor to President George W. Bush, warned against the return of the Fairness Doctrine in a speech Thursday, saying it would be a "u-turn" on the road to a more diverse media marketplace. Read more

The Fairness Doctrine would force Christian radio stations to air atheist and Muslim programing. Will it happen? That is up to Barack Obama. Read more

MESSAGE TO OBAMA FROM NEICE OF MLK - Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life today said: "President-elect Obama has become synonymous with 'change,' yet the most positive new direction he could seek would be to find room in his heart for the unborn." And, said Dr. King, "He has promised to take actions that will only increase the number of babies killed by abortion. He has stolen the hope that millions of babies might have their very existences recognized, much less protected. If Mr. Obama wants to bring change that we can believe in, he needs to begin by changing his view that not all Americans have a right to exist."

THE CONGRESS
William Murray and Congressman Elect Duncan Hunter, Jr. THERE ARE NEW HOUSE REPUBLICANS - On Thursday evening I met with several of the "freshman class" of House Republicans. Earlier in the day the group elected Rep.-elect Steve Austria of Ohio to be president of their class in the 111th Congress. Of those present at the meeting Thursday evening, the political action committee I am chairman of had helped to elect three. GING-PAC assisted in the elections of congressmen-elect Duncan Hunter Jr. of California, Pete Olson of Texas and Tom Rooney of Florida. (Photo of myself with Duncan Hunter Jr.)

ROY BLUNT STEPS DOWN --For eight years Congressman Roy Blunt has served as Majority Whip in the House and for the last two years in the more difficult position as Minority Whip. During that time he has been an advocate of social conservative causes and has met almost weekly with conservative activists including me. This week I and other conservative leaders met with Congressman Blunt before he stepped down from the leadership position. He is replaced by his former deputy whip, Congressman Eric Cantor of Virginia. Congressman Cantor is also a champion of social conservative values.

LAME DUCKS TO RETURN - This week was to be the last for the 110th Congress, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will call a special session in December to revisit loans to the automotive industry. NOTE: Mitt Romney may believe that Chinese and Indian car companies can replace GM and Ford, but the millions of Americans associated with the auto industry don't. Republicans blocking the loans at the request of radical pro-China free-market traders such as Mitt Romney will kill any chance of future Republican gains in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Illinois where the bulk of American owned auto parts makers live. By stopping these loans to automakers the GOP told the Reagan Democrats to pack up and go home to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.

THE CONGRESS
PELOSI CONFIRMS SHE WANTS TO CENSOR TALK RADIO - Nancy Pelsoi does not want to censor TV broadcast news because it is controlled by liberals. She does not want to censor major newspapers because they are controlled by liberals. She does not want to censor the Internet where liberal bloggers dominate. BUT ... Nancy Pelosi confirmed this week that she wants to censor talk radio which is dominated by conservatives. Read more. This is just the starting point. If Obama is in the Oval Office and Pelosi runs the House next year, they will criminalize what is now free speech. Criticism of abortion or homosexuality will cause confiscation of property and probably even imprisonment. This is the "change" Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi promise, a government much like that of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

SENATE FILLS ALL FEC SLOTS - Last week I hit the Senate Leadership for blocking the Bush appointments to the Federal Election Commission leaving it so short handed that no quorum existed to hold Board meetings. This week under orders from Barack Obama, Senator Reid allowed three Republicans and two Democrats to fill the open slots. Obama wants the FEC to throw up road blocks to the McCain campaign and he hopes that the FEC will be of some help to him.

MARRIAGE PROTECTION AMENDMENT - On Wednesday my old friend Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS) introduced the Marriage Protection Amendment which would amend the Constitution to protect marriage as a union between one man and one woman. A similar bill has been introduced in the House. With the Senate run by a radical left leadership that does not even condemn polygamy, there is little chance of a vote on Sen. Wicker's Constitutional amendment. Read more at the Senator's site.

MORE MONEY FOR PLANNED PARENTHOOD - Democrats in the Senate added language to the Labor-Education-HHS Bill (LHHS) for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers to acquire and sell reduced-price drugs on university and college campuses. The provisions would help Planned Parenthood (which reported $1 billion in annual revenue and a $115 million surplus last year) in the purchase and distribution of harmful drugs like Plan B (also known as the Morning-After Pill) and RU-486 to college students. EVOLVING STANDARDS OF DECENCY - This week the U.S. Supreme Court issued an opinion stating that child rapists can't be executed for the crime. As usual Justice Anthony Kennedy was the swing vote and his reasoning for not allowing the execution of a man who had tortured and raped a little girl was astounding. Kennedy wrote that he took into account the nation's "evolving standards of decency." According to him since our society is more "tolerant," those who torture and rape children should not be executed. This falls in line with allowing public acts of homosexuality. My prediction: Polygamy will be found to be legally protected by the Constitution by the end of this decade. Read more

OK TO MARRY ONE-YEAR-OLD GIRL SAYS MUSLIM OFFICIAL - The actual quote: "There is no minimal age for entering marriage. You can have a marriage contract even with a one-year-old girl, not to mention a girl of nine, seven, or eight. This is merely a contract [indicating] consent. The guardian in such a case must be the father, because the father's opinion is obligatory. Thus, the girl becomes a wife..." Read more

NEW UPDATE ON AMI'S CONDITION - (On March 20th, 2008 16-year-old Ami Ortiz was severally wounded when a bomb hidden in a gift fruit basket delivered to the apartment of Evangelist David Ortiz exploded. Ami has been hospitalized for three months and is still undergoing operations. The latest update on his condition from Israel was received on June 26, 2008. Read update.

IRAQI CHRISTIANS - Hope is all but lost that the United States government will do the right thing by the hundreds of thousands of Christians who have been persecuted and forced from their homes in Iraq. THE PRESIDENT
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH- The front pages of the major newspapers, all liberal, feature photos of Barack Obama every day. A stranger to our land would think that he is already our president. Not often mentioned is our current President, George W. Bush. Yet, with the war now being won in Afghanistan and Iraq and the major intelligence changes he introduced codified, his esteem among foreign leaders is growing. During his final tour of Europe he convinced the British to send more troops to Afghanistan and the Italians to lend more support to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

OBAMA FIRST TO REFUSE FED FUNDS - Barack Obama will be the first Presidential candidate to refuse federal funding for the general election since the program was begun after the corruption plagued Nixon campaign in 1972. If McCain stays in the federal program he will be limited to $82.5 million dollars while Obama may spend as much as he can raise. NOTE: A California, Florida or New York Senate campaign can cost over $50 million because of the cost of TV advertising. Obama may be able to raise and outspend McCain by a 2 to 1 margin this Fall as most of the rich favor Democrats.

THE REAL OIL STORY - Barack Obama and his Green religion backers do not want you to know this: If the existing "marginal wells" in the United States were reopened, within 30 days we would not have to import a single barrel of oil from the Middle East! A marginal well is one that produces 15 or fewer barrels per day. The Democrat controlled Congress refuses to pass the incentives to owners to reopen these wells. The Democrats are also blocking: 14 billion barrels of oil form the Continental Shelf, 10 billion barrels from ANWR, 2 trillion barrels from the Rockey Mountains, and 179 billion barrels from the Canadian Oil Sands. The USA is the only nation in the world that blocks offshore dilling. The USA forbids American oil companies from obtaining oil from the Canadian oil sands. The reserves in the USA are three times those of Saudi Arabia, but laws on the books do not allow exploration. Thank Senator Barack Obama and the Democrats for the price of gasoline.

THE CONGRESS
DNC - PARTY OF THE RICH Radical left Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is one of the ten richest members of the Congress. Last year she estimated her wealth between $15 million and $55 million and that did not include most of her husband's extensive real estate holdings. Recently she added $25 million to the Water Bill to improve San Francisco's Embarcadero port area where husband owns extensive property. Pelosi sees no problem in raising taxes by 10% - it makes no difference to someone who earns millions a year. Beside, she can direct the taxpayers' money to her husband's benefit. Read more

GOP HAS HOPE IN HIGH GAS PRICE - The Democrat leaders like the high price of gas so much that they actually want to add additional taxes and make the price even higher. Democrat leaders are so tied up in the Green religion that they believe the best way to save the planet is to price gasoline out of the reach of the average citizen. Meanwhile, the Republicans don't much want the price of gasoline to go down either. "This is the issue that can save us in November," one GOP leader told me. If gas prices stay where they are, the Republicans think they can take back the House. Why? Since Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats took over, the price of gas has doubled.

SENATE STANDSTILL HALTS FEC - The Federal Election Commission can't function because it does not have enough members for a quorum. In this critical election year Democrat Leader Harry Reid blocked a vote on new appointees to the FEC. Senate Minorty Leader McConnell said, "I am extremely disappointed that our friends on the other side of the aisle have objected to a fully functioning Federal Election Commission. Just yesterday, their nominee called the system 'broken.'" Senator Reid is also blocking the confirmation of virtually all judges, believing that a Barack Obama victory will allow Obama to fill all the vacant posts with members of the ACLU.

FAIRNESS IS CENSORSHIP - Sounds like something out of the novel Brave New World, but liberal governments all over the world are eliminating free speech in the name of "fairness", and Democrats want to censor Americans here at home. Just one example is President Lulu of Brazil who says opposing homosexuality is a sickness. He believes being against homosexual relations should be made a crime punishable by law. (SEE LULU STORY) In our Congress, Nancy Pelosi's idea of "fairness" is to force Rush Limbaugh to have someone present in the studio to refute minute by minute every word he has to say. Read more on the Fairness Doctrine.

SAUDI ISLAMIC ACADEMY DIRECTOR ARRESTED - Women have no rights in Islam. So when a 5-year-old girl student told Abdalla Al-Shabnan that she had been sexually abused, it was not reported to authorities. He has been arrested for obstruction of justice for failing to report the crime. (Read arrest.) This is the same school I reported on last week, which teaches hatred of Jews and Christians and promotes Jihad. The school is operated by the Saudi government and could be closed by the State Department. However, Secretary Rice continues to defend the school and refuses to even furnish copies of the hate filled text books to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom.

RFC SPONSORS SAUDI CONFERENCE - The Religious Freedom Coalition was one of the chief sponsors of a Capitol Hill conference on Saudi Arabia. The conference at the Rayburn House Office Building on June 18th was titled U.S.-Saudi Dilemma: A challenge for the next Administration. UN OFFICIAL SAYS CONSERVATIVES ATTACKED TRADE CENTER - Prof. Richard Falk, a U.N. Human Rights Council official assigned to monitor Israel, said a commission is needed to determine if American conservatives played a role in the September 11, 2001 attack on New York and Washington. This is just further proof that the UN should be dissolved and the UN building in New York pulled down and replaced by a mushroom farm. Read complete story about this nut.
