THE PRESIDENCY
DOES YOUTUBE LOVE OBAMA? -A video exposing Sen. Barack Obama's extremist support for abortion has been blocked by YouTube.com. The Kansas Coalition for Life produced a video titled "Obama: WRONG Change for Children," which included information about Obama's voting record on abortion- related bills. Youtube.com blocked the video saying it did not meet a "Community Guideline." This is the same Youtube that will allow anyone who says they are over 18 to watch porn. This FoxNews clip about a woman who survived an abortion has not been blocked. View here.

WASHINGTON POST MOCKS PALIN'S FAITH - The Washington Post printed an editorial cartoon mocking Gov. Sarah Palin and all Pentecostals. The Post would not have printed anything like this about a Muslim or a Jew. The cartoon, which can be viewed here cannot be called anything other than despicable. In Nazi Germany the same kind of hate filled cartoons were printed about Jews in the Nazi controlled newspapers of Germany in the 1930's. Liberals, in their hatred and their desire for censorship, are closely related to fascists.

DEMOCRAT LEADER GOES TO MCCAIN/PALIN - In a rather astonishing announcement, one of the authors of the Democrat Party platform has announced that she will back John McCain and Sarah Palin. Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a top fund-raiser for Mrs. Clinton's primary candidacy, endorsed Senator McCain and warned that Obama would move the nation "too far to the left" Watch this exchange between her and CNN's Wolf Blitzer.

NEW VOTER GUIDE - David Barton, a true American historian, heads Wallbuilders. That organization has researched the records of both Barack Obama and John McCain and put together a voter guide based upon their actual statements and votes. You may download and distribute the guide. Click here for PDF version.

THE CONGRESS
JUST 5 DAYS TO LEGISLATE? - For years this update had two sections for Congress, one for the House and one for the Senate. Each week I would post information on numerous bills in both houses. NOT ANY MORE!. Sine the Democrats took over the House and Senate in January of 2007 so little has been done that I had to reduce the Update to one section on the Congress. Other than a phony "offshore" oil drilling bill nothing of any merit has moved through the House since Labor Day. AND ... Radical left Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has scheduled so few days for the year that I cannot see how anything can be accomplished. She literally has only five business days scheduled for the rest of the year!

CULTURE AND RELIGION
SAUDI CLERIC: KILL IMMORAL BROADCASTERS - Sheikh Saleh al-Luhaidan told state-run Saudi television that the owners of radio and television networks broadcasting "immoral" programs may be killed. "It is lawful to kill... the apostles of depravity... if their evil cannot be easily removed through simple sanctions" According to this mandate virtually every broadcaster in the United States faces beheading. No major media outlet in the USA mentioned this outrageous statement. Imagine the outrage from the media if a Christian leader even suggested immoral broadcasts should be censored.

IRAQI REFUGEES TO USA? - We have just received the latest figures on the number of Iraqis being permitted to immigrate to the United States. The Bush Administration says that 32,418 have been "approved," however, only 12,551 have actually arrived. Of the 32,418 authorized about 10,883 are Christians. Sweden has taken in more than 18,000 Iraqi refugees and the town of Sodertalje, Sweden has more than the entire United States.

Week Ending September 12, 2008 - Washington, DC

President Bush marks the Jihad attack against America / McCain and Obama stand down for 9-11 but attacks on Palin continue unabated / Pelosi dictates that Congress will only work 15 days for the rest of the year / Senator Reid plans nothing /RFC meeting with China's religious leaders / Anti-abortion but pro-Obama? / How I remember 911

THE PRESIDENCY
PRESIDENT BUSH MARKS 9-11 - President George W. Bush marked the seventh anniversary of the Jihad attack on the United States by dedicating a memorial to those who died at the Pentagon, including the passengers on flight 77. He closed with these remarks: "That day of peace will come. And until it does, we ask a loving God to watch over our troops in battle. We ask Him to comfort the families who mourn. And we ask Him to bless our great land." Click here for full text and official photos.

I was driving past the Pentagon on 9-11 just as flight 77 hit. My remembrance of that day was published a year later. Click here to read my personal account of 9-11.

MCCAIN AND OBAMA TAKE BREAK FOR 9-11 - The John McCain and Barack Obama campaigns set aside most of their campaigns on the seventh anniversary of the Jihad attack against the United States. The liberal media blitz against Gov. Sarah Palin did not pause . Liberals are accusing her of trying to ban books at a library (untrue); teach creationism in Alaskan public schools (untrue), and posing in a bikini with an assault rifle (also untrue despite the fact that CNN reported it). However, I did sort of like the cartoon of the Moose saying, "Be afraid, be very afraid.

THE PALIN FACTOR - Polls of Europeans, particularly the British, had Barack Obama the three to one favorite over John McCain; that was before Sarah Palin entered the picture and reminded the Brits of their beloved first ever female prime minister, Margaret Thacher. The tone of the British press has changed somewhat as can be seen from a recent article in the Daily Mail titled, A pistol-packin' Looby Loo: the Left's worst nightmare.

THE CONGRESS
JUST 15 DAYS TO LEGISLATE? - This week I had lunch with Congressman Adam Putnam. As Chairman of the House Republican Conference, Putnam is third in line in the House Republican leadership. The Conference Chairman is charged with articulating his party's message, and with building the agenda for Republicans in the House. He was elected to lead the Republican Conference by his fellow congressmen.

Congressman Putnam told me that leftist Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had scheduled only 15 work days for the rest of year for the House. Of those days, only 14 are before the election and there is just one day of work after the election. She scheduled so few days despite the fact that most of the government's funding bills, which are already months late, need to be passed. Even bills to fund the military have not been passed. Meanwhile, Rep. Putnam said he does expect Pelosi to file dozens of bills to name post office buildings. Boy that sounds important!

SENATOR REID HAS PLANS? - Not much to report in the Senate at all. The Majority Leader of the Senate, Harry Reid, is not going to advance any legislation without the permission of Comrad Obama who is on the campaign trail and falling further behind the McCain/Palin ticket every day. Obama was going to showcase himself on the Senate floor with "education bills" but now does not have the time to come to Washington.

SENATOR BIDEN IN TROUBLE WITH BISHOPS - Two prominent U.S. Catholic bishops this week said that Democratic vice presidential nominee, Senator Joe Biden contradicted church teaching. He said on a TV interview that determining when human life begins is a "personal and private" matter of religious faith not to be imposed on others. Read more. He is just one of many pro-abortion Catholics such as Nancy Pelosi in the Democrat Party.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
ANTI-ABORTION BUT PRO-OBAMA? - A new survey of Catholic voters has been released that shows "active Catholics" support John McCain. But there is an oddity in the poll. 35% of those in the survey who said they would never support a candidate who voted against the Born Alive Infant Protect Act, still said they would vote for Obama. Of course, Barack Obama did vote against protecting infants born alive in a botched abortion. Read more.

William Murray with Kan Boaping CHINA'S OFFICIAL RELIGIONS - There are no denominations in China; this is one of the things I learned from Kan Baoping, the general secretary of the China Christian Council. This week I had dinner with him and Gao Feng, the president of the China Christian Council. Also at the dinner were the heads of the Taoist, Buddhist and Islamic "official" religions in China. I was one of about 12 others who sat at the table with the Chinese leaders to discuss matters of religion in China. Among the things discussed was the arrest of a Christian bookstore owner in China. One of the Chinese Christian leaders present requested that I send him a book I had authored that he had heard of. Photo above is of myself and Kan Boeping. Note: The links above are to CCC official sites. I included these because I thought they may be of interest to you.

William J Murray at RNC Convention in 2008 MY OP-ED ON MCCAIN / PALIN-Because of my attendance at the GOP Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, I don't have much "inside the Beltway" news to report. I do want to share my reflections with you on the results of the convention and why Gov. Sarah Palin being added to the ticket was so important to Senator McCain. A lengthy Op-ed that I wrote was published and best sums up my views. Read the Op-ed here.

THE PELOSI KIDS - San Francisco radical Nancy Pelosi is second in line for the presidency after VP Dick Cheney. As a result, her family, including her super wealthy husband and her five kids have Secret Service Protection. Do you know the names of her five kids and her husband? Have any of her kids had sex before marriage? Do you care? I don't. Although Pelosi is just two heart beats away from the presidency, there has been no public vetting of her family, yet the liberal media ravaged the family of Gov. Sarah Palin within hours of her being picked for the VP slot. This is a true double standard.

BIDEN'S SON- Speaking of presidential tickets, did you know that one of Joe Biden's sons has been sued for fraud over a hedge fund deal. A story did appear in the Washington Post, but was quickly forgotten. It appears that anything done by a child, spouse or brother of a liberal candidate is instantly dropped by the press. Another double standard.

THE CONGRESS

PALIN ATTACKED ON ISRAEL - Liberal blog sites are running a photo of Gov. Sarah Palin sitting at her desk with a small flag of Israel visible on her credenza behind her. The liberal reaction: "This proves she is a religious nut". The reality is that liberals in America are becoming more and more anti-Semitic and they just can't seem to hide it any more.
