THE PRESIDENCY 

CAN CHURCH BACK DOWN OBAMA? - The political backlash against President Obama's plan to force religious organizations to supply health care policies that include contraception, sterilization and the "morning after" pill has been immense. Make no mistake what all of this is about: Liberals love whales and hate babies. At the heart of liberalism is the belief that the planet is more important than the people on it and to protect the empty plains, bare mountains and desolate desserts the population must be reduced. This ideology is so intrenched in the hard-left that Obama was willing to risk the loss of the Catholic vote to reduce the number of live births in the United States. With Catholics and Bible believing Evangelicals against his people hating philosophy he may be forced to back down. Update: Obama has offered a "compromise" that is a total joke and slap in the face of those who believe in religious freedom.

SANTORUM'S BIG WIN -Let me make it clear that I have never personally supported Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination. During the GOP primary process I have watched with alarm as evangelical voters moved from one candidate to the other in search of "someone who can win" rather that looking at the core beliefs of the candidate. While the Religious Freedom Coalition cannot endorse a candidate I can personally say that I endorsed Rick Santorum before the Iowa caucus because of what he stands for and the life he has lived. Santorum's victory over Romney and Gingrich in three states on Tuesday sent a message to the GOP establishment that real values do matter.

CONGRESS 

LAWMAKERS COUNTER OBAMA MANDATE - Members of the House and Senate are tirelessly working to overturn the Obama mandate to force church based organizations such as hospitals to provide the "morning after" pill to employees. A bipartisan group of Senators filed an amendment to the federal highway re-authorization bill that would have protected religious employers; however, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blocked the amendment. The language was identical to the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, previously introduced in the House. The HHS mandate tramples on the American legacy of religious freedom. Members of the House Prayer Caucus continue engaging in efforts to overturn it.
AIR FORCE KICKS GOD OFF PATCH - The Air Force removed a Latin reference to "God" from the motto of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) after receiving complaints from the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers (MAAF). Thirty-five Members of Congress joined Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA) in sending a letter to the Air Force expressing concern over the decision. The RCO patch, previously displayed the Latin motto that translated into "Doing God's Work with Other People's Money"; however, the Air Force altered it to now read "Doing Miracles with Other People's Money." Especially troubling about the move is the Air Force's implication that the very presence of the word "God" on a military patch-regardless of its context or intent-is somehow unconstitutional.

SUPPORT S-1245 - Senator Roy Blunt has recently introduced the Near East and South Central Asia Religious Freedom Act of 2011 (S-1245) to give Secretary of State the authority to name a Special Envoy to promote the religious freedom of religious minorities in the Near East and Central Asia. The Special Envoy would be an expert in human rights and religious freedom issues and would have the rank of Ambassador. In light of the continued attacks on Christians in Islamic areas of the world it is important to move this legislation forward. Please contact your Senator requesting support of S-1245.

RELIGION AND CULTURE 

CPAC EXPLAINED - I am presently in California and not at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference. CPAC gets a lot of hype from the press but its core has so deteriorated that it is now ignored by most social conservatives. It is basically a libertarian event devoid of family values, an event for college age Ron Paul supporters to party at. For many years I was one of the sponsors of CPAC. That ended several years ago when homosexual groups were invited to participate and any mention of radical Islam was banned. The only Washington conference I now participate in is the Value Voters Summit.

MOVIE GUIDE - As mentioned above I am presently in California working on various projects including a possible documentary movie based on my first book, My Life Without God which is being re-released on the 50 anniversary of prayer being removed from public schools. While here I will support and attend the MovieGuide.org gala held tonight. MovieGuide.org is a Christian organization that is changing the way Hollywood does business. It is my firm opinion that Christians should not go to a movie without first consulting MovieGuide.org.

TURKEY CONVERTS CHURCH TO MOSQUE - When the Ottoman Empire fell and the modern Turkish state was established it was secular and religious political parties were banned. The military was given the constitutional responsibility to guard Turkey as a secular state and as a result it was an ally of Israel. A religious party, one associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, has come to power and the Turkish military has been purged of secularists. Some generals have been arrested and Turkey is no longer a friend of Israel. Persecution of Christians has increased and ancient churches are being converted to mosques. Even the New York Times, a Muslim Brotherhood lover, has taken notice. Read more

A FRENCHMAN TELLS THE TRUTH - French Interior Minister Claude Guéant said this week that he stood by remarks that not all civilizations are equal, as critics denounced his comments as dangerous and xenophobic. "Contrary to what the left's relativist ideology says, for us all civilizations are not of equal value," Guéant said. "Those which defend liberty, equality and fraternity, seem to us superior to those which accept tyranny, the subservience of women, social and ethnic hatred," he said referring to Islam. Read more

MOVE OVER MAFIA THE BROTHERHOOD IS ARRIVING - The southern Italian island of Sicily is about to become the proud new owner of a multimillion euro mega-mosque. The mosque, to be built in the medieval town of Salemi in southwestern Sicily, is being paid for by the oil-rich Persian Gulf Emirate of Qatar. Supporters of the mosque hope it will become a reference point for Muslims in Sicily as well as the rest of Italy. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA OUTS ISRAEL - The Obama Administration has warned an enemy, Iran, that one of our allies, Israel, is about to attack its nuclear sites. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta informed the media this week that Israel was planning an attack on Iran within a few months. Iran now knows when to heighten its defenses and how to prepare a retaliation against the Jewish state.

OBAMA SAYS JESUS WANTS TAX HIKES - I have not attended the National Prayer Breakfast for many years because it has become a political mockery rather than a gathering of the faithful to pray. As if to prove my point, President Barack Obama used this week's National Prayer Breakfast to push his tax increases, saying that as a Christian he knows that Jesus would want the rich to pay higher taxes. He awkwardly offered his proof by reading Luke 12:48 out of context. The passage actually concerns the treatment of servants by masters and has nothing whatsoever to do with taxes or government.

OBAMA AND THE CHURCH - According to President Barack Obama, a Christian school is a secular body separate from the church. He used the argument to try to force employee standards on church schools (although thankfully he lost in the Supreme Court). Now he wants to use mandated health insurance to force Church owned organizations such as schools and hospitals to provide health insurance that includes contraceptives, sterilization and even the "morning after pill."
CONGRESS 

SENATOR TELLS OBAMA HE IS NOT JESUS - A few hours after President Barack Obama invoked the words of Jesus to promote tax hikes Senator Orrin Hatch took to the floor of the Senate and made this comment: "Just this morning at the National Prayer Breakfast the President took what has always been a non-partisan opportunity for national unity and used it to promote his political agenda. He suggested to the attendees that Jesus would have supported his latest tax-the-rich schemes. With due respect to the President, he should stick to public policy. I think most Americans would agree that the Gospels are concerned with weightier matters than effective tax rates." The Senator went on to point out Obama's attack on the church using Obama Care earlier in the week. Read more 
PRAYER CAUCUS BACKED BILLS - The WWII Memorial Prayer Act, H.R. 2070 passed this week by an overwhelming 386-26. Prayer Caucus members introduces the bill because the Park Service omitted "so help us God" in an inscription of President Roosevelt's address to Congress following the attacks on Pearl Harbor. This bill directs the inscription of President Franklin Roosevelt's historic "D-Day Prayer" at the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. Pressure must be placed on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass the bill in the Senate.
By a voice vote the House also approved the War Memorial Protection Act, H.R. 290. This legislation ensures that memorials commemorating the U.S. Armed Forces may contain religious symbols. The bill counters decisions by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (The Nutty Ninth) to remove such monuments to veterans as the Mt. Solidad Cross.
RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION FROM OBABACARE - U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced a bill called the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2012 that will expand the nearly nonexistent exemption for religious employers in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly known as ObamaCare.
As it now stands, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is forcing religious employers to pay for contraceptives, sterilization services, and abortion-inducing drugs for their employees. In a failed attempt to respond to complaints, the DHHS has given religious organizations one year to adapt to the ObamaCare mandate. Read more

CHERRY PICKING THE BIBLE - In America today there is a growing fad which has been called Designer Christianity. Cherry-picked Christian ideology has zero to do with God's Word and everything to do with the moral relativism that now pervades modern philosophy. It is a pick-and-choose brand of religion where a person selects exactly what he or she wants to believe, misinterprets and takes Scripture out of context, and then labels those who object to that sacrilege as mean-spirited, un-Jesus-like, and anti-Christian. OCCUPY MOVEMENT GOES ANTI-SEMITIC - Does it actually surprise anyone that the Oakland, California Occupy movement endorsed the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel? A statement at the Occupy Oakland website stated that Israel had "prodded" the United States into Afghanistan and Iraq wars. This is the same group that broke into the Oakland City Hall, smashed windows and furniture and set fires. These are Obama's thugs practicing their assault tactics in preparation for the November election.

DUBAI POLICE CHIEF NO LONGER TRUSTS AMERICA - At a January 19, 2012 regional security conference in Bahrain, Dubai's longtime chief of police Dahi Khalfan Tamim gave an assessment of security threats to the Gulf states. He said that the U.S. was the main security threat, had realized Iran's dreams in Iraq, was "embracing" the Muslim Brotherhood, and was no longer an ally. WHAT A CONTRAST - While President Obama and his campaign is championing class warfare and central planning, one presidential candidate is telling Americans that rights come from God and not from government. During the most recent presidential debate in Florida, former Senator Rick Santorum received thunderous applause when he reminded the audience that our rights come from God but in Obama's view our rights come from government which means they can be taken away by government. WHY OBAMA FAVORS THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD - Islamists are coming to power throughout the Middle East with the support of President Barack Obama. The President and a vast array of liberals are in solidarity with Islamists and are enabling their rise to power. In this new book, United In Hate, Jamie Glazov explains the phenomena. THE EGYPT OBAMA MADE - The United States gives Egypt over $2 billion a year, of which about 80% is military aid. The Egyptian military now refuses to allow Sam LaHood, the son of a the Secretary of Transportation, to leave Egypt. He had been working there with the International Republican Institute, a conservative pro-democracy group. It was among 31 groups shut down by the military last month. More bad news: The really bad guys, the Muslim Brotherhood, will take over from the military in a few more months.

CONGRESS 

NO BUDGET IN 1,000 DAYS - It has now been more than 1,000 days since the Senate has passed a budget for our federal government. Although the Republican House has passed a budget the last two years, the Democrat controlled Senate last passed a budget on April 29, 2009. At that time the national debt was $11.15 trillion. Today, the national debt is $15.2 trillion. Every American now owes $48,700, or, another way to put it is that every U.S. household owes $128,300.

MUSLIM VIOLENCE IN DEARBORN - In October of last year, Lutheran Westland football team was beating the Star International Academy which is all Muslim, by a score of 47 to 6 at the end of the fourth quarter. It was the last minute of the game and Lutheran's quarterback was going to "take a knee" and run out the clock. Knowing this, the referee had told both teams that there could be "no contact" on the play. As the Lutheran quarterback kneeled with the ball the Muslims busted through the unprepared defensive line and beat him unconscious after taking off his helmet. Read more
STRAIGHT STUDENT BELITTLED BY SCHOOL - A 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who wrote an op-ed opposing gay adoptions was censored, threatened with suspension and called ignorant by the superintendent of the Shawano School District in Wisconsin. Oddly the school had solicited both pro and con op-eds for the newspaper and there was no problem until homosexuals complained. The school then tore out the anti-gay marriage op-ed before distributing the newspaper. The student, Brandon Wegner, is suing the school demanding an apology for "Its unconstitutional and irrational censorship and humiliation." Read more

NIGERIA TO SURRENDER? - Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan, who is a Christian, suggested talks with the Islamic terror group Boko Haram. This comes just a week after Boko Haram attacks killed nearly 200. The leader of the Boko Haram wasted no time in answering the attempt by the Nigerian government to negotiate. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau flatly said no and then told President Jonathan he must "repent as a Muslim."

CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS WITH ISLAMIC PRAYERS? - A self established sharia court in Jammu and Kashmir in India has asked the state government to take over Christian schools. The decree also asked three Christian priests to leave the state for "luring Muslims in the valley toward Christianity." The Muslims do not, however, want the Indian government to take over their schools. As part of the takeover the Muslims are demanding that the Christian schools start the day with Muslim songs and prayers and have classes on Islam.

CANADA HONOR KILLINGS -On June 30, 2009, Mohammad Shafia, with the help of his wife Tuba and his son Hamed, murdered his three daughters and his other wife in Ontario, Canada. The wealthy Shafia family worked quickly to conceal their actions but police caught up with them. This week CNN reported on the mass honor killing without mentioning the motive. The father of the murdered children had said, "They betrayed kindness. They betrayed Islam. They betrayed our religion and creed. They betrayed our tradition." He added, "Even if they come back to life a hundred times, if I have a cleaver in my hand, I will cut (them) in pieces." He renounced his three daughters for dating westernized men and acting unclean. Incredibly, CNN reported that: "interrogations of the family never uncovered a motive." How about this motive: The killers believe every word and instruction of the Qur'an.

THE PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA: PIPELINE TOO DANGEROUS - We have all seen those haunting photos of starving kids in Africa that organizations such as Feed the Children use to raise money. Try to picture American kids looking like that. Most African poverty is caused by a lack of cheap energy. There is no power to drill wells; no power to transport water; no diesel for farming tractors; no gas for cooking; and no electricity to refrigerate and store food. An energy poor nation is a starving nation. By refusing to meet the energy needs of the American people, President Barack Obama and his leftist supporters are pointing the nation toward poverty and starvation. Obama's refusal to increase Canadian oil imports by denying a permit for the Keystone pipeline is an epoch disaster for the American people.
SANTORUM'S SURPRISE - The day Gov. Rick Perry dropped out of the race, Fox News commentators said it was really bad news for Santorum because he would now finish last behind Ron Paul. The final polls showed Rick Santorum at 9%, but on election day he nearly doubled that, decidedly defeating Ron Paul. After the departure of Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry, the only consistent conservative left in the GOP primary race is Rick Santorum. Both Gov. Mitt Romney and former Speaker Newt Gingrich had supported the same medical insurance mandates as Barack Obama. Gingrich appeared in a TV ad with radical leftist Nancy Pelosi promoting "green energy." As for Ron Paul, his foreign affairs views are to the far left of Barack Obama's.
THE GINGRICH DISASTER - This update was released late Saturday to include the results of the South Carolina GOP primary. Newt Gingrich, riding high on his attacks on the media, received 41% of the vote. The problem with this is that Newt Gingrich's views change literally by the minute and he has held far more positions on both sides of the issues than has Gov. Mitt Romney. Because I am a Washington insider and because I do know Newt Gingrich well, I can say with clarity that if he is the Republican nominee for president Barack Obama will win a second term and the Republicans will lose control of the House and drop seats in the Senate. During a second Obama term the pro-life movement will be crushed using Obama Care and the United States will become a welfare state. Religious freedom as we know it will end, with the government controlling who is hired and fired by the church and dictating what can be said from the pulpit.

PASTORS ARRESTED IN NYC - Forty-three people including pastors were arrested in the Bronx on the 13th for protesting the ban on churches renting schools for meetings. New York City is the only school district in the nation that refuses to rent auditoriums to religious groups, but it will rent them to atheists and communists. Most congregations that rented space before the ban are minority evangelicals. Read more

DEATH TOLL RISES IN NIGERIA - The death toll following coordinated bomb attacks by the Boko Haram in Kano, Nigeria on Friday and Saturday is now over 162 officially, with bodies still in the streets. Kano is mainly Muslim and the largest city in the north. The Islamic terror group Boko Haram claimed responsibility, saying the attacks were in reprisal for the government refusal to release terrorists held in jail. The province of Punjab has become a living hell for Christians as another church in Garhi Shahu has been desecrated and demolished. EXTREME EGYPT - The final results are in, and Islamic extremists have won 75% of the seats in the new parliament. Previously the religious parties such as the Muslim Brotherhood were outlawed. President Barack Obama led the charge to have the secular government replaced during the "Arab Spring" that was supposed to bring freedom. What it may well bring is the total elimination of rights for women and religious police to enforce Sharia law upon all, including Christians.
