The Presidency
Obama created Syrian nightmare -
Experts are referring to areas held by Obama's rebels as "the new cauldron for hatching terrorist strikes in the West." A bleak, well researched report in the Washington Times shows a hub of Islamic terror growing stronger every day in areas held by the forces supported by President Obama and Senator John McCain. Read more
Obama Army exposed for smearing Christian groups -
Last week soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas were warned about giving money to evangelical groups or to Tea Party groups. They were told they could receive military punishment for doing so. This occurred on the same base where Nidal Hasan killed 13 soldiers and an unborn baby and wounded dozens more - and his actions were labeled "workplace violence" - even as he shouted praise to Allah. Read more
Pro-gay agenda activist takes over Homeland Security - President Obama has picked Department of Defense lawyer - Jeh Johnson - to run the massive Department of Homeland Security. In case Jeh Johnson's name isn't familiar to you, he's one of the primary architects behind the repeal of the ban on homosexuals serving openly in the U.S. Armed Forces. Read more
Congress
Senators demand response to persecution of Christians -
In a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry, U.S. Senators Roy Blunt (MO), Bob Corker (TN.) and Lamar Alexander (TN) said recent reports of more frequent, targeted attacks against Coptic churches and individuals in Egypt "warrants a clear U.S. response." Read more
Congressman wants abortion coverage disclosed - Congressman Chris Smith (R) has more than 100 co-sponsors for H.R. 3279, the Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act. If passed into law it would force companies to disclose to those buying insurance if they were paying for coverage of abortions. Read more

World Council of Churches ignores persecuted Christians -
Would the world, let alone Middle East Christians, be better off without the World Council of Churches (WCC)? Why has the WCC, which claims to represent and serve 345 denominations worldwide, done nothing to help the persecuted churches in Iraq, Syria and Egypt? Read more
International Religious Freedom Day ignored? - The issue of religious persecution around the world should be front and center for our government, but clearly it's not, under Obama. In fact, it has been Obama who has been one of the key political forces in creating more religious persecution around the world and in the United States since he took office. Read more

Yemen: Muslim father burns teen daughter to death -
Only a month after an eight-year old girl from Yemen died on her wedding night after suffering massive internal injuries from her 40-year-old groom, a Yemini father has been arrested for burning his 15-year-old daughter to death because she committed the "crime" of talking to her fiance before their wedding. Read more
Kenya: Muslims murder pastors - Evangelical Christians are mourning the death of two pastors who were killed on Kenya's coast over the weekend amid concerns about growing pressure on devoted believers in the African nation. Read more
Nigeria: Police in northern states enforcing Sharia on Christians - As Christians in Nigeria continue to suffer violent attacks at the hands of Islamic extremists, they are also facing official opposition as the authorities enforce an Islamist agenda in a number of states. Read more
Syria: Disgusted by the West, Christians turning to Russia for help - It is very ironic that Russia, known for its history of atheism and persecution of Christians around the world, should now be looked to as the protector of Syrian Christians. This, while the Obama Administration and other western nations are openly supporting Islamic terrorists who are seeking to kill Christians in Syria and oust President Assad. Read more

Washington Report- August 23rd, 2013

Editor: William J. Murray

NEWS FLASH: While the Western media pushes the phony claims of chemical weapons use by the secular government of Syria the continued suicide bombings by the Islamists Barack Obama loves are ignored. Just as is done in Israel by the radical jihadists a suicide bomber walked into a family restaurant in Aleppo and blew himself up killing eight innocent civilians.

In this issue: Priest says Obama does not understand Egypt / Obama military being cleansed of Christians / White House jokes about attacks on Coptic Christians / Senator condemns attacks on Coptic Christians / Congress in recess / Reeducation camps for Christians? / Terrorist Assistance And Facilitation Act / Egypt: Documented attacks on Christians / Egypt: Coptic Pope calls MB terrorists/ Syria: The chemical attacks that weren't / Out of context? Radical Imam calls for death of Hindus and Buddhists

The Presidency Priest says Obama does not understand Egypt - "Obama does not appear to understand the situation. This must absolutely be made clear: the Muslim Brothers are terrorists, and are tied to groups belonging to Al Qaeda and to the Salafites. The history of the Muslim Brotherhood, ever since their foundation, has been a history of 85 years of bloodshed." Read more
Obama military being cleansed of Christians - Christian service members are now being forced into the closet for their views on homosexuality and so-called "gay" marriage. Their fundamental rights to free speech and freedom of religion are being routinely trumped by homosexual activists in the military. Their careers are being destroyed because they uphold biblical truths about homosexual behaviors. Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Phillip Monk, a 19-year veteran who served in Iraq as a medic, has been punished for his Christian beliefs over homosexuality by his lesbian commander Major Elisa Valenzuela. Read more
White House jokes about attacks on Christians - The White House's deputy press secretary today downplayed Muslim attacks on Christians in Egypt, joking about the savagery that has left at least six Christians dead. Read more
Congress
Senator condemns attacks on Coptic Christians -
Amid continued deadly violence directed against Coptic Christians and other civilians in Egypt, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) called for Congress to pass bipartisan legislation aimed at promoting and protecting religious freedoms throughout the region. Not a single Democrat congressman or Senator has made a statement critical of the slaughter of Christians in Egypt. Read more
Congress in recess - The House will return on September 9th as per the schedule posted at the beginning of the year by Leader Cantor. Because Senate Leader Harry Reid is nuts, there is no telling when the Senate will reconvene, or if they will do anything when they do reconvene.
Religion and Culture
Reeducation camps for Christians? -
According to a recent comment by Brad Avakian, Oregon's Labor Commissioner, business owners like Melissa and Aaron Klein of Sweet Cakes bakery should be "rehabilitated" out of their religious beliefs. The Kleins have said their religious beliefs were the reason for refusing to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding. Read more
Terrorist Assistance And Facilitation Act - Retired Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) agent Michael W. Cutler says that the so-called "comprehensive immigration reform" proposals in Congress should be more accurately described as the "Terrorist Assistance And Facilitation Act." He said, "If an Islamic terrorist walked into an immigration office and if we didn't have his finger prints on file and claimed his name is 'Donald Duck,' how would we know better? Read more

Egypt: Documented attacks on Christians -
Violent aggression by Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists, including those sympathetic to al-Qaeda, continues to be directed at one of the world's oldest Christian communities, following the military's break up last week of Brotherhood sit-ins. The Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party has been inciting the anti-Christian pogroms on its web and Facebook pages. Read more
Egypt: Coptic Pope calls MB terrorists - Christians in majority Muslim nations face horrid persecution and their leaders do not speak out for hear of even greater reprisals. The persecution reached the level in Egypt under the Muslim Brotherhood that staying quit was no longer an option. Now leaders such as Pope Tawadros II are exposing the terror they face and bitterly complaining that the Western media ignores the plight of Christians. Read more
Syria: The chemical attacks that weren't - Several hours before the alleged chemical attack by the Syrian government this past week the "opposition" began posting pictures of the dead. Claiming 1,700 dead while showing older photos of twenty people being buried caused France and other Western leaders to demand "action." Meanwhile the mass killing of Christians continue in Nigeria with no comment from Obama or any other Western leader. Read more
Australia: Out of context? - Radical Imam calls for death of Hindus and Buddhists - "Listen, oh Obama, oh enemy of Allah, you who kiss the shoes and feet of the Jews. Listen! The day will come when you are trampled upon by the pure feet of the Muslims.
"Oh Allah, count the Buddhists and the Hindus one by one. Oh Allah, count them and kill them to the very last one." Read more

In this issue: US government running ads to apologize to radical Muslims / White House admits video did not cause attacks / Why Mr. President? / A hundred year old prophecy haunts America today / Rising tide of restrictions on religion / Many dead in riots on "Love the Prophet Day" / Turkey PM demands worldwide blasphemy laws / Six years in jail for insulting Egypt's Muslim president / 100 Afghans killed by Syrian troops - in Syria! / France braces for cartoon riots
The Presidency
Obama Administration paying to say sorry -
The President of the United States, the most powerful man on Earth, is buying TV ads in Pakistan with our tax dollars to tell Muslims he is ashamed of the fact that we have free speech. Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are featured in TV ads paid for by the State Department and now running in Pakistan. They are actually apologizing because someone in the United States used their freedom of speech to be critical of Mohammed. It doesn't get any worse than this. Read more in a UK newspaper. Although some media outlets continue to blame rioting on the non-existent movie about Mohammed, evidence is overwhelming that this was not the case.

White House admits video did not cause attacks -
After ten days of media supported lies by the Obama Administration claiming that a YouTube video was to blame for the murders of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans, the White House took a sharp turn and said "terrorism" was to blame. The fictional story blaming the video collapsed when CBS News interviewed people living near the consulate and found out there was no demonstration. Armed Islamists with RPG's attacked the consulate in three waves on the anniversary of 9-11. For days the Obama Administration had been blaming free speech in the US as the problem. See my op-ed

Why Mr. President Why? - A great new one-minute commercial is now running, asking Barack Hussein Obama why he is inviting the Muslim Brotherhood to the White House. The commercial exposes the Muslim Brotherhood that Obama seems to so love. See it here.

Congress
Senator champions religious freedom - Before he was elected to the Congress, Senator Roy Blunt was president of Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. He understands the issues that religious institutions face under ObamaCare and has written an op-ed in a Missouri newspaper about his concerns. NOTE: Islamic organizations are exempt from all ObamaCare rules being forced upon Christian and Jewish organizations.

Religion and Culture
A prophecy come true for America - This past week I wrote an opinion editorial for WND.COM that spotlights a dire warning made about Western civilization 100 years ago by William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army. The article shows how Booth predicted godless government and a Christless church. Read it here.
Rising Tide of Restrictions on Religion - Pew Research Center's Forum on Religion and Public Life shows that restrictions on religion spiked throughout the world in 2009-2010. The United States was among the 16 countries whose scores on both the Government Restrictions Index and the Social Hostilities Index increased by one point or more in the year ending in mid-2010. Pakistan: Love for the Prophet Day - Yes, it is "Love for the Prophet Day" in Pakistan and so far 19 people have died in the riots, with many more injured and millions of dollars in property damage done. Times of India
Turkey: PM demands worldwide blasphemy laws - Prime Minister Erdogan called for "international legal regulations against attacks on what people deem sacred, on religion" as well as "something in terms of domestic law." He stated that Turkish legislators will immediately seek to prohibit blasphemous remarks. Before the Muslim Brotherhood came to power, Turkey was a secular nation Read more
Egypt: Six years in prison for Christian who insulted Muslim president - Christians are concerned and shocked by the six-year sentence imposed on Bishoy Kamel, a Christian teacher who posted online satirical cartoons on Islam on July 30 this year, and allegedly insulted Egypt's president. Read more
Syria: 100 Afghans killed in Aleppo - In a strike against a school used by "rebel" forces, the Syrian army killed one hundred (100) Afghan nationals who had come to Syria for jihad. It now appears that most of the front line rebel fighters are foreign jihadists, as the popularity of the revolt against the Assad regime seems to dissipate among Libyans.
France: Government prepares for riots - France is braced for a Muslim backlash after a satirical magazine published new cartoons of Mohammed. France will close 20 embassies and schools across Islamic countries Friday. Read more

Report From Washington - June 24, 2011

Obama releases oil to punish traders - markets drop / Donate big to Obama and get a big Fed job / Senators want to protect religious freedom in the Middle East / Geert Wilders acquitted / Netherlands hate speech law still in effect / Delta Airlines "no Jew" policy - Is this real? / Muslims kill again in Nigeria / Release Asia Bibi now

PRESIDENCY

Obama Oil Release KILLING THE MARKETS TO SAVE THEM - Every week for the past six weeks the price of both oil and gasoline has fallen. This week President Barack Obama decided to release oil from the emergency reserves held by the US government. These reserves are for catastrophic situations -- not market interference. The last time the reserves were used was during the Katrina disaster when oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico were shut down. The release of oil, coordinated with other nations trying to "stop speculators" from pushing up the price of oil, caused the stock market to drop almost 2%. Did Obama not realize that traders who buy oil contracts also buy insurance on those contracts? The speculators were not hurt, but those issuing the insurance sure were. Because Obama interfered with the market there has been major disruption in the natural trading order. Oil company stocks, which are the backbone of many retirement funds, fell drastically. The effect on the actual price of gas? About five cents a gallon -- and that is temporary.
DONATE BIG TO OBAMA, GET A BIG JOB - Does Obama reward big money bundlers with jobs, commissions, stimulus money, government contracts, and more? Well, after two years in office nearly 200 of his biggest donors have received government jobs and posts or won federal contracts worth millions of dollars. This according to a study by The Center for Public Integrity which is available on Iwatch.

THE CONGRESS
SENATORS: PROTECT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN MIDDLE EAST - This week U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (R - MO) introduced legislation that would create a new U.S. Department of State special envoy for religious minorities in the Middle East, aimed at promoting and protecting religious freedoms. U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is an original co-sponsor of the legislation. Blunt said, "As we observe political upheavals throughout the Middle East, I expect this bill will encourage the State Department to redouble its efforts to call attention to all religious minorities and demonstrate to leaders in the region that the United States takes religious freedom seriously."

RELIGION AND CULTURE
WILDERS AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH - Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders was acquitted of "hate speech" charges by a Dutch court, after a circus of a trial during which the government attempted to jail him for telling the truth about Islam. Wilders, who leads the third largest political party in the Netherlands, said, "This is not so much a win for myself, but a victory for freedom of speech." It may be a relief to him that he will not spend the next 16 months in jail, but the way in which he was acquitted did not change the law under which he was prosecuted; it is still on the books. Read Nina Shea's the decision.
DELTA AIRLINES' NO JEWS POLICY - Imagine the protests in the streets if Delta Airlines were to tell Muslims that they could not fly somewhere because the local customs would not permit them to enter that country? Those situations are impossible to conceive because they could never happen, right? But Delta Airlines is facing a similar moral dilemma as they get ready to complete an alliance with Saudi Arabian Airlines. The Delta-Saudi deal means adding Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) to Delta's SkyTeam Alliance. For the first time, this would allow Delta passengers to fly direct into Saudi Arabia, as long as passengers are not Jewish, do not have a passport from Israel or a passport that is stamped from Israel. MUSLIMS KILL AGAIN IN NIGERIA - This past week at least two Christians were killed in an attack on a police station in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. This is the first suicide bombing outside of the Islamic controlled north of the country and shows that the Islamic terror organization Boko Haram is expanding its operations. Previous killings of security officers, politicians and clerics have occurred in the Muslim north where the group is trying to enforce strict sharia law. The name of the group translates as "Western education is sacrilege." RELEASE ASIA BIBI NOW - Pakistani Christians are demanding the release of Asia Bibi, mother of five, who has been falsely accused of blasphemy and jailed for nearly two years. Blasphemy laws in Pakistan are used to blackmail Christians and steal their homes and land. This is just one more outrage. More at Pakistan Christian Post

White House against "Fairness Doctrine" / Alveda King says Barack Obama's heart needs to change / GOP Whip Roy Blunt steps down / Lame Duck Congress to return / Atheists file their Christmas season lawsuits / Bounty to kill Christians in India / Nativity scene cookie cutters?

THE PRESIDENCY
WHITE HOUSE SAYS NO TO "FAIRNESS DOCTRINE" - Meredith Attwell Baker, the top telecommunications policy advisor to President George W. Bush, warned against the return of the Fairness Doctrine in a speech Thursday, saying it would be a "u-turn" on the road to a more diverse media marketplace. Read more

The Fairness Doctrine would force Christian radio stations to air atheist and Muslim programing. Will it happen? That is up to Barack Obama. Read more

MESSAGE TO OBAMA FROM NEICE OF MLK - Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life today said: "President-elect Obama has become synonymous with 'change,' yet the most positive new direction he could seek would be to find room in his heart for the unborn." And, said Dr. King, "He has promised to take actions that will only increase the number of babies killed by abortion. He has stolen the hope that millions of babies might have their very existences recognized, much less protected. If Mr. Obama wants to bring change that we can believe in, he needs to begin by changing his view that not all Americans have a right to exist."

THE CONGRESS
William Murray and Congressman Elect Duncan Hunter, Jr. THERE ARE NEW HOUSE REPUBLICANS - On Thursday evening I met with several of the "freshman class" of House Republicans. Earlier in the day the group elected Rep.-elect Steve Austria of Ohio to be president of their class in the 111th Congress. Of those present at the meeting Thursday evening, the political action committee I am chairman of had helped to elect three. GING-PAC assisted in the elections of congressmen-elect Duncan Hunter Jr. of California, Pete Olson of Texas and Tom Rooney of Florida. (Photo of myself with Duncan Hunter Jr.)

ROY BLUNT STEPS DOWN --For eight years Congressman Roy Blunt has served as Majority Whip in the House and for the last two years in the more difficult position as Minority Whip. During that time he has been an advocate of social conservative causes and has met almost weekly with conservative activists including me. This week I and other conservative leaders met with Congressman Blunt before he stepped down from the leadership position. He is replaced by his former deputy whip, Congressman Eric Cantor of Virginia. Congressman Cantor is also a champion of social conservative values.

LAME DUCKS TO RETURN - This week was to be the last for the 110th Congress, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that she will call a special session in December to revisit loans to the automotive industry. NOTE: Mitt Romney may believe that Chinese and Indian car companies can replace GM and Ford, but the millions of Americans associated with the auto industry don't. Republicans blocking the loans at the request of radical pro-China free-market traders such as Mitt Romney will kill any chance of future Republican gains in Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio and Illinois where the bulk of American owned auto parts makers live. By stopping these loans to automakers the GOP told the Reagan Democrats to pack up and go home to Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
THAT TIME OF YEAR FOR ATHEISTS - Atheists know that the media loves to report on their anti-Christian activities during the Christmas holiday. So the Freedom From Religion Foundation is suing Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter over a state-sanctioned "Day of Prayer" proclamation. Week Ending August 8, 2008 - Washington, DC

China detains White House press corps / China tells Bush not to "use" human rights / Bush aid funneled money to Radical Islamic groups / Obama the Almighty / Congress in recess to avoid vote on oil / "GAY DAY" in California public schools / China imprisons Christian bookstore owner for printing Bibles / More on Iraqi Christians

NEW CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - The all new July 31, 2008 Chairman's Report is now available to read in PDF format. This issue contains a full report on the July mission to the Middle East to assist Iraqi Christian refugees. There are new facts on the condition of Christians in Jordan. The bombing in Ariel and the recovery of David Ortiz's son is also covered. Click here to view new issue.

THE PRESIDENCY
WHITE HOUSE PRESS CORPS DETAINED - Chinese officials insulted President Bush when he arrived in China by refusing to allow the press corps traveling with him to deplane for three hours. The President thought going to the Olympics and championing human rights would change the hearts of the Communist leaders of China. Since they have no hearts, this is not possible Mr. President. The Chinese Foreign Minister said of Bush's remarks on freedom, "We firmly oppose any words or acts that interfere in other countries' internal affairs, using human rights and religion and other issues." Don't expect to see this information on the front page of your newspaper. Big business and the liberal media are as much in love with the Chinese communists as they are with Barack Obama.

BUSH AIDE FUNNELED MONEY TO RADICAL ISLAM - Karen Hughes, a close confidant of President Bush, funneled millions of dollars in grants to radical Islamic organizations, many of whose leaders have been convicted or indicted in terrorism cases. Read more

OBAMA ALMIGHTY - Obama's ego transcends even the willingness of the mainstream press to inflate it. Finally, some are poking fun at the man who manages to use the words "I" and "me" so many times in the same sentence that it causes grammar experts to get physically ill. Obama is so puffed up about himself that he has become a comedy target for the McCain Campaign. McCain's "The One" commercial has been viewed tens of thousands of times on the Internet. View "The One"

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESS IN RECESS ... BUT - Congress is in recess for the month of August. TV commentators say it is their "vacation," but actually Democrat lawmakers are in their districts trying to explain why they refuse to allow energy exploration in the United States. Meanwhile about fifty House Republicans take to the floor of the House everyday even though radical left Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has ordered the cameras off and the lights out. The Republicans are trying to call to the attention of Americans that it is Pelosi and the Democrats who refuse to allow a vote on drilling for oil or expanding nuclear power. Read more

"SAVING THE PLANET" - When Congress returns in September, Republican Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO) will push the Democrats for an up-or-down vote on the American Energy Act, H.R. 6566. The act would promote American-made energy and stop the flow of money to Muslim dictators. It would open deep-water resources and allow drilling in areas where the Democrats currently forbid it. Radical leftist Speaker Nancy Pelosi has so far refused to allow a vote, knowing that enough Democrats will vote for the bill to allow it to pass. She told a reporter that she would not allow a vote because she needs to "save the planet."

SENATE WEAKENS FIGHT AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING - A great accomplishment of the House was when they passed overwhelmingly the William Wilberforce Act of 2007 (H.R. 3887), which authorized U. S. law enforcement to aggressively investigate and prosecute cases of human trafficking and slavery. Senator Biden (D-DE) has introduced a Senate version (S- 3061) that removes key provisions necessary to make the law effective. A group of organizations, including the Religious Freedom Coalition, have sent a letter to President Bush asking him to take a firm stand behind the House's William Wilberforce Act of 2007 and to not sign a weakened version. Read letter

CULTURE AND RELIGION
CALIFORNIA'S GAY SCHOOL DAY - This week the California Assembly passed AB 2567 on a 43 to 26 vote, with Democrats for, and Republicans silently against. It previously passed the Senate. If signed into law, it will create an official day commemorating homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality in California's public schools. Every May 22nd kids from kindergarten through high school will be expected to celebrate homosexual experimentation, homosexual 'marriages,' sex-change operations, and cross dressing. Governor Schwarzenegger has not disclosed his position on the bill being presented to him.

NEW CHAIRMAN'S REPORT - The all new July 31, 2008 Chairman's Report is now available to read in PDF format. CHINA TORTURE OF CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE OWNER - A Beijing, China bookstore owner and House Church Leader, Shi Weihan, has suffered deteriorating health since his imprisonment four months ago. He has been refused his diabetes medication and has lost more than 20 pounds in body weight. Shi was coerced to sign a confession convicting him of "engaging in the printing and distribution of a large number of illegal publications." The Bibles and Christian literature Shi printed and sold at his Beijing Christian bookstore were "illegal" because they were not printed by the "official" church.

Week Ending November 16, 2007 - Washington, DC

IN THIS ISSUE: There really is a Vice President / Cheney and the special elections / Thanksgiving Proclamation / Nancy's House - why people are angry at her / Fairness Doctrine is back / Roy Blunt's Little Book of Big Government / Kennedy and his "Hate Crime" / Faith is a winning message / Catholic Bishops on Faithful Citizenship / More arrests of Christians in Egypt

HEAR WILLIAM J MURRAY ... Click here to listen to William J. Murray on Leading the Majority. Murray talks about repression of religious speech in America and the situation of Christians in the Middle East.

NEW: This e-mail is posted as a blog at MurrayOnTheHill.blogspot.com. You can post comments there!

THE PRESIDENT
THERE REALLY IS A VICE PRESIDENT- The press and the late night comics are always making jokes about Vice President Cheney being in an "undisclosed location," and it is true he is rarely seen. However, he did manage to make it to a fund raising event on Thursday night for two candidates my political action committee supports, Bob Latta (OH-5) and Rob Wittman (VA-1) Both candidates, who are running for the House in special elections on December 11th, are 100% pro-life social conservatives and emphasize that fact at their Internet sites. In his remarks not even once did the Vice President mention the social issues these men support. Rather, he talked about how they would lower taxes and vote to protect the nation. There is just a disconnect between Republican leadership and the party base.

THANKSGIVING PROCLAMATION - President George W. Bush has issued his annual Thanksgiving Proclamation saying, "Our country was founded by men and women who realized their dependence on God and were humbled by His providence and grace." Click here to read the full proclamation.

THE PRESIDENTIAL RACE - Surprise, Surprise .... The respected Rasmussen Poll now shows Gov. Mike Huckabee tied for 2nd place nationally. Another poll shows Romney and Huckabee within 2 points of each other in Iowa. Meanwhile Rev. Pat Robertson has bet his reputation on pro-abortion candidate Mayor Rudy Guiliani. THE HOUSE
HOUSE IN RECESS - The House went into recess on Thursday for Thanksgiving and will not return until December 3rd. The House will then be in session for about one week before the Christmas break, (holiday break if you're a Democrat.) Meanwhile the House has passed only 105 bills, and 47 of those were to name buildings such as post offices. More than 40 other bills were extensions of previous Republican legislation. Not a single appropriations bill to fund the government for the fiscal year has been passed, but there have been 58 votes on withdrawing our troops from Iraq. So little actual work is being done under radical Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that we may hit 2008 with virtually nothing on the President's desk for his signature.

LITTLE BOOK OF BIG GOVERNMENT- Will Rogers said, "The only difference between death and taxes is that death does not get worse every time Congress meets." The Democrat controlled Congress wants to spend $2.17 trillion next year. Minority Whip Roy Blunt has put together an amazing little book of facts and figures about big government that includes fascinating information such as how long it takes to spend a billion dollars at $1,000 a day. The small book is available to view or download at www.republicanwhip.house.gov .

FAIRNESS DOCTRINE- Congressman Mike Pence has now persuaded all but six House Republicans to sign a discharge petition to bring legislation to the floor that would stop a future Administration from imposing the FCC "fairness doctrine" which is a killer of free speech. Pence introduced the legislation because radical Democrats want to "level the playing field" by forcing conservative talk show hosts to give equal time to liberals. Information on the Broadcaster Freedom Act is available at Congressman Pence's site.

WHAT HAPPENED NANCY? - The latest Gallup Panel survey, conducted Oct. 25-28, 2007, asked Americans whether they were "pleased," "neutral," "disappointed," or "angry" about the way the Democrats in Congress have been dealing with major issues under San Francisco radical Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Few Americans are pleased. Only 7% approved of the handling of the federal budget deficit and just 17% approve of their handling of terrorism. Between 12% and 26% are angry about various issues. In general the majority of Americans say they are disappointed with the congressional Democrats' performance so far. Click here for Gallup story.

THE SENATE
KENNEDY'S "HATE CRIMES" ALIVE- Senator Ted Kennedy's bill to punish people for having bad thoughts about homosexuals has been hidden in the DOD (Department of Defense Authorization Bill) in a dishonest attempt to try to force President Bush to sign it into law. Like ENDA in the House, Kennedy's legislation would give homosexuals super rights not enjoyed by the rest of Americans. Under his bill, if there is a mass shooting, such as there was at Virginia Tech, it would be more of a crime to shoot a homosexual than a normal heterosexual. Does this make sense at all? Conservative Senators are holding the line so far. if Kennedy's super rights for homosexuals is part of the DOD authorization, President Bush has said he will veto it.

HEATED PRIMARY - This week I met with Dr. Walter "Buddy" Witherspoon of South Carolina. He is a Committeeman to the Republican National Committee and has set up an "exploratory committee" to perhaps run against oddball Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. Last year Senator Graham told South Carolinians that they were just bigots if they didn't want to share their state with illegals. His popularity is way down and a conservative Democrat could win the seat if someone does not get the Republican nomination away from Graham. He just cannot be trusted on social conservative issues.

FAITH IS A WINNING MESSAGE - In an article written for the Washington Post, Senator Sam Brownback said,

"On the campaign trail I talked about being pro-life and whole-life. This is, first and foremost, recognition of the fundamental dignity of every human person. It says that every person, at every stage and in every place, is a beautiful and unique child of God. It says that every life, everywhere, has value and is worth fighting for. I think this is a winning message. Unfortunately, the GOP primary process this year, as in times past, has been more focused on "electability" than on message. I believe that's the wrong focus. Recent history has shown that when we as a party focus on message, we win; when we get bogged down with questions about which personality is most 'electable,' we lose."

The Senator dropped out of the race for lack of funds just as the winds began to shift and GOP voters started to look past the "electability" of Rudy Giuliani toward the "message" of Mike Huckabee. I authored similar remarks that are now on several blog spots including those of Newt Gingrich and Mike Huckabee. Click here to read.

RELIGION AND CULTURE
FAITHFUL CITIZENSHIP - Catholic Bishops meeting in Baltimore, Maryland this week passed a statement entitled "Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship." The document outlines the citizenship and voting responsibilities of Catholics in the United States. The liberal press immediately attacked the statement and liberal "scholars" promptly stated that Catholics would ignore it. It is true that many who were born Catholics and have not attended Mass in years may not pay too much regard to the Bishops' statement. Practicing Catholics, however, probably will. NEW YORK'S ILLEGAL DRIVERS - With the polls showing more than 70% of New Yorkers against him, Democrat Gov. Eliot Spitzer gave up on his plan to issue drivers' licenses to tens of thousands of illegal aliens. He made the bizarre claim that he planned to issue the licenses to force the illegals to pay for auto insurance. The ruling class in America, including the liberal media, see nothing wrong with giving anyone entering the nation illegally a driver's license. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was all for it until she saw the poll numbers; now she just is not sure. FEAR NOT ILLEGALS! You can still get a license in Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.

Hillary take note: Every single state in Mexico requires that a valid Mexican visa must be presented by a foreigner to obtain a driver's licnese. Click here of details of Mexico requirments.

INTERNATIONAL
MORE PERSECUTION IN "SECULAR" EGYPT - Two members of a Canadian based human rights organization in Egypt and their attorney were arrested in Cairo on November 10 by State Security Investigations (SSI). Wagih Yaakoob, official spokesman for the Middle East Christians Association (MECA) and Victor George, an administrator of the association's voice room on the "Pal Talk" messenger, were taken to Lazoghly State Security headquarters in Cairo for interrogation. Later in the day SSI officers in Alexandria arrested the association's attorney, Mamdouh Azmy, who was also taken to Cairo for interrogation. Reportedly, they are being accused of belittling Islam. IRAQI CHRISTIAN REFUGEES - Father Keith Roderick and I are just about done with the final report on our Fact Finding mission on Iraqi Christian Refugees. The final report and recommendations have taken longer than we thought; however, I believe a full report will be available by the next update release next week.

THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS GIFTS
OUR CHRISTIAN INTERNET STORE - We have lots of great stuff for Thanksgiving and Christmas at our Internet store. Not only are there books and CD's, but everything from candy to jewelry and all of it has a Christian theme. Unlike Amazon and other major Internet stores we do not sell porn and satanic materials right beside Christian books. Ours is a real Christian store with tens of thousands of items. Please take a look. The store is located at www.rfcstore.com. Contributions to the work of the Religious Freedom Coalition can be made at www.rfcnet.org.
