March 25, 2011 - Washington, D

In February Obama asked Congress for money for Gaddafi / Obama's Justice Department: Muslim's should get special worker rights / Christians attacked in Ethiopia; no comment from White House / Congresswoman wants US out of UN Human Rights Council / Atheist to end "under God" fight? / 72 hour wait before abortion / Heaven's Rain the movie / Ground Zero mosque to be funded by lawsuits? / Attacks on Christians in Ethiopia / Missionary killed in Jerusalem bombing

NEW MARCH 16th CHAIRMAN'S REPORT ONLINE -In this issue: Radical imam says Sharia will replace Constitution / Terror attack on our troops in Germany / Congressman King stands firm / Atheists and leftists rally in support of Ground Zero Mosque / Christians in Egypt under attack / Romantic relationship leads to widespread violence / Can democracy survive in the Middle East?

PRESIDENCY
OBAMA WANTED MORE MONEY FOR GADDAFI - In the middle of the revolutions in Egypt and Tunisa, President Barack Obama requested that the Congress double the military aid the United States provided Muammar Gaddafi. In February of this year Obama requested an additional $1.7 million in funds for Gaddafi's military. Just a few weeks after he requested the funds to build up Libya's military, Obama is now spending hundreds of millions of dollars to destroy it. Meanwhile, President Obama can't figure out what the U.S. role in the war actually is.
THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT AND THE HAJJ - A Muslim woman goes to work for a school. Nine months later she announces that she must go on the Hajj, a Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca that is required only once in a lifetime. She demands her employer give her time off and then allow her to return to her job. The school system says no, and immediately Attorney General Holder, not a junior official but the head of the Justice Department himself, steps forward to force the school to accommodate her. Jews are forced to work on Saturday, and being a Christian is no excuse for taking off a Sunday, but a Muslim has the right to demand time off at any time to go to Mecca? This move is purely political.
AND IN ETHIOPIA? - Just this month, more than fifty churches in Ethiopia have been bombed or burned and hundreds of Christian homes destroyed (see international below). Although the president seems interested in any Muslims that may be "repressed," there is no evident concern at the White House for the continued slaughter of Christians in the Middle East and Africa.

THE CONGRESS
DEFUND U.N. HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL - Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who is the chair of the U.S House Foreign Affairs Committee, called this week for the U.S. to withdraw from the U.N. Human Rights Council. Under President George W. Bush the U.S. did not participate, but President Obama joined the HRC which is for the most part made up of the worst human rights offenders in the world such as Cuba, China, Saudi Arabia and yes, even Libya. Ros-Lehtinen said the U.S. should quit the HRC and "explore credible, alternative forums to advance human rights." For the most part the HRC passes resolutions condemning Israel for defending itself against terror and criticizing the the USA in one fashion or the other.

RELIGION AND CULTURE
ATHEIST'S "UNDER GOD" FIGHT TO END? - Atheist Michael Newdow has ended his quest to remove "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Newdow said that for "reasons that are best not divulged" he would not appeal the case to the Supreme Court. That leaves the decision of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco from 2010 in effect. That ruling held that the words "under God" in the Pledge do not establish a religion. However, Newdow's lawsuit challenging recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in the New Hampshire public schools could arrive at the U.S. Supreme Court as soon as next week.
72 HOUR WAIT BEFORE ABORTION - Thanks to South Dakota's Governor Dennis Daugaard for signing House Bill 1217 which was written primarily to stop coerced abortion, by requiring a 72 hour waiting period from the time an abortion agreement is signed until it is actually performed. National statistics show that 64% of women are coerced into having an abortion. Supporters of the abortion industry immediately filed lawsuits to prevent the law from going into effect.
HEAVEN'S RAIN - This week my wife and I attended a special screening of Heaven's Rain, a movie about Brooks Douglass and his sister Leslie, who grew up in the home of a Baptist missionary-pastor and his wife. On Oct. 15, 1979, Brooks opened the door of their modest family home to what he believed was a man in need. The man, a drugged-up drifter named Glen Ake, along with another man named Steven Hatch took the family hostage, continually assaulted 12 year old Leslie and then shot all four family members. Brooks and Leslie somehow survived. The movie is compelling, with a strong Christian message, but the funds are not available for distribution. There are showings of the film at some churches and other venues and I urge you to visit HeavensRain.com for scheduling.

GROUND ZERO MOSQUE DEVELOPER SUES TO RAISE MONEY - Apparently Ground Zero Mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal thinks the best way to be a good neighbor is to sue for enough money to build his temple to Islam. Sharif El-Gamal filed a $7.0 million lawsuit against Burlington Coat Factory, the tenant that was in the building during the 9-11 jihad attack against the United States. The suit claims that Burlington Coat Factory ripped off two signs on the exterior of the building in haste, doing millions of dollars in damage to the facade, due to their desire to distance the company from the mosque controversy. The total area of the damage is less than 150 square feet, so the lawsuit is asking about $46,000 per square foot for the damages. The lawsuit failed to note that El-Gamal plans to tear down the building to build his trophy to the 9-11 jihad attack. Read more

Pastor Wilson Augustine set on fire by Muslims ATTACKS ON CHRISTIANS IN ETHIOPIA - Muslims have attacked Christians and burned down 46 Pentecostal and 23 other Protestant churches in southwestern Ethiopia. The attacks began on March 2rd in Asendado, after imams spread rumors that a Qur'an was being flushed down the toilet at one of the churches. The nation is just 30% Muslim, but in areas where Muslims are the majority, violence against Christians is common. One of those areas is Besheno where notes are put on Christian homes telling them to convert or leave. The attacks in the area escalated during March, with an estimated 10,000 Christians fleeing the area because the government cannot contain the violence. The only news agency to report the violence toward Christians in Ethiopia has been Fox News.Additional sources report the destruction of Christian homes, schools and orphanages. Photo above is the remains of burned down Kale Hiwot church in Asendabo, Ethiopia. Photo by International Christian Concern

MISSIONARY KILLED IN JERUSALEM BOMB BLAST - Mary Jean Gardner, 59, of the Orkney Islands, Scotland was killed by a Muslim bomb planted at a bus stop in Jerusalem this week. She was a member of Wycliffe Bible Translators and was studying Hebrew in Jerusalem and staying at the Home for Bible Translators. Previously she had served with a Wycliffe team in Togo, translating the New Testament into the Ife language. Miss Gardner was studying Hebrew in Jerusalem, hoping to return to Togo to translate the Old Testament. In addition to the murder of Jean Gardner, six Americans were among a total of fifty people wounded in the blast. Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, took credit for the blast as well as numerous rockets fired into Israel in the last week.

PRESIDENCY
OBAMA WANTS FREEDOM FOR MUSLIMS - Not a word comes from the mouth of President Barack Obama about the horrible persecution of Buddhists, Christians, Hindus and other religious minorities in Muslim nations. However, he is a champion of the rights of Muslims not only in the United States but around the world. The State Department under Obama set up special Internet sites in Arabic that gave instructions on how to use social networking to topple oppressive governments. The results are now seen in Egypt where Christians face almost daily attacks. Although championing "democracy," Barack Obama has not been a champion of secular democracy.
AS THE WORLD BURNS, OBAMA TALKS GENDER - A few days into the humanitarian disaster in Japan, a major nuclear reactor problem, and the continuing crisis in north Africa and the Middle East, President Obama played golf for most of last Saturday. On his weekly radio address he spoke about how women don't have equal opportunities as men do in American society. He failed to mention that a greater percentage of women receive college degrees than men, but lamented that there were not enough female engineers and mathematicians. Meanwhile Christian women are kidnapped, raped and forced into Muslim marriages all over the world, but that is not his concern.

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESSMEN CALL FOR RESOLUTION ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY - Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Congressman Heath Shuler (D-NC), co-chairs of the Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus, introduced a resolution calling for the U.S. to take action to protect religious freedom. The resolution condemns the intolerance that sanctioned recent high profile assassinations in Pakistan including that of Minister of Minority Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti. Tina Ramirez, Director of Government Relations at the Becket Fund, who collaborated with Congressman Franks' office on House Resolution 141 said, "Congress is finally recognizing the dangerous nexus between Pakistan's blasphemy laws and international advocacy for 'defamation' resolutions that defend the harmful effects of those laws on innocent lives. It is inexcusable that the international community has allowed these deaths to occur instead of standing behind the men who were willing to die for the freedom their country and the UN system was intended to protect." IN GOD WE TRUST RESOLUTION - On March 17th the House Judiciary Committee has voted in favor of the "In God We Trust Resolution," H. Con. Res. 13. originated by Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA) The Forbes resolution, supported by 64 bipartisan congressmen, reaffirms "In God We Trust" as the national motto and encourages its public display. On the passage Congressman Forbes said, "Today, the House Judiciary Committee asked two simple questions: does the United States still have the right to trust in God, and if so, should it? If the answer is 'yes' to both questions, then the truths we declare to be 'self evident' and the rights we hold as 'endowed by our Creator' are indeed transcendent and cannot be taken away by any government. I applaud the Judiciary Committee for answering 'yes' and reaffirming not only our nation's trust in God, but also our fundamental rights as Americans." As chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition I wrote a letter to Judiciary Committee chairman Lamar Smith thanking him for assisting the passage out of committee of the resolution.
BILL OPPOSING USE OF FOREIGN LAW IN USA - Congressman Sandy Adams (R-FL) introduced H.R.973, to prevent the misuse of foreign law in United States federal courts. The bill states: "In any court created by or under Article III of the Constitution of the United States, no justice, judge, or other judicial official shall decide any issue in a case before that court in whole or in part on the authority of foreign law, except to the extent the Constitution or an Act of Congress requires the consideration of that foreign law."

10% OF CAPTURES AT MEXICO BORDER ARE NOT MEXICAN -Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), told a conference on March 17th that 663 individuals arrested in 2010 as they attempted to enter the US illegally were from countries with ties to terrorism such as Yemen and Pakistan. "Indeed in the last year alone, where 445,000 individuals were detained at the southwest border, 59,000 came from countries other than Mexico. Of the more dangerous one's he said, "These included 663 individuals from special-interest countries like Afghanistan, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen and four countries that have been designated by the U.S. Department of State as state-sponsors of terror - Cuba, Iran, Syria, and Sudan." Bloomberg on a prayer rug with his best buddies RAUF: CONSTITUTION IS SHARIA COMPLIANT - The Ground Zero mosque man, Imam Feisal Rauf, is on a tour of American universities telling youth that Sharia is not only compatible with the Constitution, but that the Constitution is "sharia compliant." What is his purpose? His pitch is that since the Constitution is compatible with sharia then there is no need to fear sharia law, which prescribes death for homosexuality and under which women have virtually no rights. A recent post at BigPeace.com sort of sums it up with Sharia for Dummies. NO 911 MOSQUE - Visit the RFC site dedicated to the Ground Zero mosque controversy at www.no911mosque.org

CHRISTIANS SUFFER MOST FROM PERSECUTION - Aid to the Church in Need this week released a report showing that 75 percent of religious persecution is currently being carried out against Christians. "For millions of Christians around the world," the report states, "persecution, violence discrimination and suffering are a way of life as they live out their faith." Catholic Cardinal O'Brien, said: "Many Christians live in fear because of their pursuit of truth, their faith in Jesus Christ and their heartfelt plea for respect for religious freedom." Aid to the Church in Need is a Catholic organization which keeps track of persecutions. Read more
U.N. BLASPHEMY OF RELIGION RESOLUTION - Every year since 1998 the United Nations "Human Rights Council," which is for the most part made up of the worst human rights offenders in the world, has passed a resolution against "blasphemy of religion."It is, of course, introduced by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, has been annually adopted in the General Assembly and is a means of establishing Islam as being above reproach. After two high profile assassinations of officials in Pakistan who opposed blasphemy laws, it appears that the resolution will not be introduced this year. Pakistan usually promotes the blasphemy resolution. Nina Shea reported that a high-level State Department official has told her that the March 2 assassination of Pakistani Minister for Minorities Shahbaz Bhatti, doomed the anti-blasphemy push in the Human Rights Council. Egypt, death of Christians and Barack Obama / Obama's vision of democracy / Congressman King's Islamic terror hearings / Wisconsin's fascist legislators / School allows Ten Commandments / Imam Feisal Rauf rallies his atheist troops / More attacks on Egyptian Christians / Muslim murdered because he refused to murder daughter

NEW FEBRUARY 24, 2011 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT- Issue highlights: Exclusive report from Iraq - Christians in Nineveh Plain try to survive / Congressman's plan to help Christians, other minorities / South Asia suffers Islamic attacks / Freedom on trial in Europe / Liberal media confused about Ground Zero mosque / White male Islamophobe plans to bomb mosque?

PRESIDENCY
What Muslim women really want ABOUT EGYPT MR. PRESIDENT - The number of dead and injured Christians in Egypt grows each day. Apparently the "democratic revolution" that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton supported in that nation just does not include any human rights for Christians. Hosni Mubarak was a dictator, but he was a secular dictator. Without that secular presence the imams of Egypt are directing the wrath of their faithful virtually every Friday toward the minority Christian population. What do we hear from the White House or the State Department about these murderous attacks on Christians? NOTHING!

ABOUT DEMOCRACY MR. PRESIDENT - President Barack Obama has a very strange view of democracy, as do all liberals. Obama's definition of democracy goes something like this: "If we win an election, we pass whatever laws we want to and we enforce them. If conservatives win the election, we use force and mass demonstrations to stop them from passing and enforcing laws." In the liberal mind any law that is passed which they do not like, even if it is passed by a majority of the people at the ballot box, is fascist in nature; therefore, stopping its enforcement by any means, even by force, is justified.

THE CONGRESS
ISLAMIC TERROR HEARING - Congressman Peter King, the chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, began hearings this week on the "radicalization" of American Muslims. The goal of the hearings is to determine the cause of the dozens of arrests during the last two years of American Muslims who were planning terror attacks. The liberal media, including the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN and NBC, have whipped up such hysteria and hatred against Congressman King because of his honesty on the subject of Islam, that 24 hour security had to be put in place to protect him and his family. Yesterday I wrote a letter to Congressman King thanking him for shining a light on extremism in American mosques. My letter to King

RELIGION AND CULTURE
WISCONSIN'S FASCIST LEGISLATORS - The liberals' definition of a fascist is a democraticly elected official who will not bow to the wishes of a violent mob. Last November the people of Wisconsin elected a governor and legislators who said, in advance, that they would reduce the debt of the state by cutting union benefits and wages of state employees. Unwilling to accept the election results, the left has staged mass disturbances, vandalized state property and made death threats against the governor and Republican legislators. While the media painted the peaceful gatherings of Tea Party members as dangerous, the violence of union members in Wisconsin for the most part goes unreported. SCHOOL BACKS DOWN, ALLOWS TEN COMMANDMENTS - On February 23, Jacob Agee and other students who are members of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes posted copies of the Ten Commandments on their assigned lockers. Very quickly thereafter, Principal Barry Hollandsworth and Assistant Principal Tony Deibler removed each copy. The Liberty Counsel then sent a letter to the Floyd County High School administration, requesting the reversal of their censorship of religious material posted by school students on the front of the students' own lockers. Liberty Counsel gave school officials two weeks to reverse course or face a federal lawsuit. As a result, Floyd County High School officials did reverse course and will now allow students to display the Ten Commandments on their own lockers. Read more

Imam Rauf, who was at one time the lead publicist for the Ground Zero mosque, refuses to refer to the Jihad attack on 9-11 as terrorism. MORE ATTACKS ON EGYPTIAN CHRISTIANS - Violence against Christian Copts in Egypt escalated this week. A mob of 15,000 armed Muslims using Molotov cocktails, guns, and clubs, attacked Christians just outside Cairo. The Egyptian army, rather than restoring order, joined in the attack, shooting the Copts with live ammunition. So far ten Christians are known dead with hundreds injured. This attack came after Christians protested earlier attacks and church burnings in Christian neighborhoods. (See below)
MAN MURDERED BECAUSE HE REFUSED TO MURDER DAUGHTER - This is Islam, this is a true story. Last week the father of a Muslim woman was killed by his cousin because he refused to kill his daughter to preserve the family's honor. (The daughter had a romantic relationship with a Christian man). The woman's brother then killed the cousin to avenge the death of the father. Got that so far? Imams then blamed both murders committed by Muslims on Christians. Hundreds of Muslims then attacked a Christian village killing innocent people, burning down homes and churches. When Christians near Cairo protested the attacks on the village and the murder of Christians they were attacked by the army (see above.) Read more

March 4, 2011 - Washington, DC

The White House and Sharia / Was it a terror attack Mr. President? / Money rolls in to the Obama campaign / WOW: $4 billion cut from $1.5 trillion! / US government paid out record one trillion dollars in February / The church and the 2012 candidates / Feisal Rauf's sharia whitewash / Only Christian Pakistani cabinet member assassinated

NEW FEBRUARY 24, 2011 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT- Issue highlights: Exclusive report from Iraq - Christians in Nineveh Plain try to survive / Congressman's plan to help Christians, other minorities / South Asia suffers Islamic attacks / Freedom on trial in Europe / Liberal media confused about Ground Zero mosque / White male Islamophobe plans to bomb mosque?

PRESIDENCY
Gadhafi and Obama all smiles SHARIA AT THE WHITE HOUSE - Imam Anjem Choudary, whose group has been banned in the U.K., announced a pro-sharia law rally in front of the White House for March 3, 2011. Choudary said that by force the Islamic flag would fly over the White House and that sharia, or Islamic law, would replace the Constitution. Numerous leaders of the anti-Sharia movement including William J. Murray of the Religious Freedom Coalition held a news conference in front of the White House at noon on the day the demonstration was to occur. Read full statement.

TERROR ATTACK ON OUR TROOPS - This week a Muslim from Kosovo walked onto a bus carrying US airmen at an airport in Germany, and while screaming "Allah Akbar!" he killed two airmen and wounded two others. It is reported that he was a civilian employee of the air base -- otherwise he would not have had access to the bus. President Obama's statement about the attack was very much like the statement he made when Major Hassan killed 13 fellow soldiers in the Ft. Hood massacre. The President made no mention of terror. He opened his remarks by referring to the Islamic attack on unarmed airmen as "a tragic event that took place earlier today in Frankfurt, Germany." It took seven weeks for the White House to admit that Major Hassan, who also screamed Allah Akbar while killing unarmed servicemen and women, was indeed a terrorist. The final report on Hassan never mentioned that he was a Muslim. We can expect the same from the White House concerning this attack.
AND THE MONEY ROLLS IN - During the 2008 election Barack Obama's campaign committee officially raised $745 million dollars. After the election, at the end of 2008, Obama's committee still had $15 million on hand. As Obama starts his run for re-election he is seeking over $1 billion dollars. In contrast his last opponent, Senator John McCain, raised only $380 million and that included federal matching funds.

THE CONGRESS
THE $4 BILLION CUT - Right now the government has to borrow 40 cents of every dollar it spends. This year alone the federal government will rack up another $1.5 trillion in debt. So far, the Congress has managed to cut $4 billion of that. The Republicans want to cut another $60 billion, including funding for Planned Parenthood. The Democrats say it is impossible to cut more that $6 billion more. The proposed Democrat cuts represent less than 1% of the deficit spending and the Republican proposal is less than 5%. Under either plan the government will still borrow nearly $1.5 trillion this year alone. ONE TRILLION IN CHECKS IN ONE MONTH - In the month of February the government wrote over $1 trillion in checks for the first time ever. But wait, isn't' the budget just $3.83 trillion for the year? Yes, but that does not include debt service. Of the $1 trillion outflow in February $585 billion was to pay off debt, both principal and interest. To do this the government had to borrow $660 billion in February. While most of the borrowed money went to pay debt the rest was needed for Obama's various programs the Congress approved. It is all on the Treasury balance sheet, read it and weep for the nation.

WARNING TO MUSLIMS: DON'T THREATEN SOUTH PARK - It may be OK to build an offensive mosque at Ground Zero or to call for sharia law being forced upon women -- but threatening the purveyors of violent profane filth can get a Muslim tossed into jail. A 21-year-old convert to Islam who threatened the creators of the 'South Park' cartoon has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. The college drop-out, Zachary Chesser, was sentenced by a U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Virginia. He pleaded guilty to supporting the al-Shabab terrorist group in Somalia and posting online threats against the South Park creators. The threats of physical harm were made, he said, because of an episode of South Park insulting to Muhammad. NOTE: When conservative leaders who are critical of Islam in the United States have their lives threatened, law enforcement agencies never take the threats seriously and often refuse to take a report.

THE CHURCH AND THE 2012 CANDIDATES - I was stunned by a poll done by the Barna Organization on favorable/unfavorable ratings for the GOP candidates for president. Among Catholics and Protestants, former Governor Sarah Palin's unfavorable ratings are 64% and 50% respectively. Newt Gingrich's unfavorable ratings are nearly as high among Christians. On the favorable side, former Governor Mike Huckabee is the leader, with Mitt Romney a close second. See poll results.

Pastor Wilson Augustine set on fire by Muslims ONLY CHRISTIAN PAKISTANI CABINET MEMBER ASSASSINATED - Shahbaz Bhatti, who was the minister of religious minorities, was the second high-level Pakistani government official to be assassinated in the past two months. Both officials had opposed Pakistan's "blasphemy" laws that impose the death penalty for insulting Islam. He had been assigned police guards, but did not use them because it was a bodyguard who had killed the other official, Punjab province Governor Salman Taseer. Tens of thousands of Muslims flooded the streets to celebrate the murder of Taseer, showing the true nature of this "moderate" Islamic nation that is an ally of the United States. Read details
