The January 22, 2009 newscast reports on the first days of the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama. OBAMA PULLS AHEAD - As the world economy continues to collapse, the polls indicate that Senator Barack Hussein Obama is surging ahead. Social conservatives who make up about 40% of the Republican Party are defecting to the Democrats as they watch their retirement dreams vanish to the free trade anachy. Unregulated hedge funds have over the past eight years gambled away the future of America, and the inability of President Bush and the Congress to rein them in has destroyed the Republican coalition. Most social conservatives are populists, not free traders and the Republican leadership's failure to understand that may lead to an Obama victory and a strengthening of the Democrat hold on the House and Senate.

THE CONGRESS

GREENSPAN ADMITS ERRORS - Although Congress is officially in recess, individual committees continue to hold hearings. The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform headed by Chairman Barnie Frank called former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan as a witness this week. During his testimony he admitted to "errors" during his term as chairman. While the rest of the world was praising Greenspan, many populists including myself were warning that he had put too much money in circulation at virtually a zero interest rate and that the resulting uncontrolled growth would eventually collapse into financial ruins. He admits now he may have made an "error."

MURTHA'S REDNECK DISTRICT - Loudmouth Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania recently called his constituents "racists." When this angered not only them but local media outlets, he modified his comments to say his constituents were "rednecks." Most recently he said that only the "older" constituents were "rednecks." He was apparently trying to explain why Barack Hussein Obama may not win in his district. He is now having some problems with his own reelection. Read more.

TWENTY YEARS IN JAIL FOR FREE SPEECH? - For more than a year I have been reporting on an Afghan journalism student who was convicted of blasphemy and sentenced to death after a secret trial. After intervention by President Bush his life was spared and his trail was moved to Kabul. His alleged crime was raising questions about the role of women in Islamic society. The more "enlightened" Kabul court has reduced his sentence to imprisonment for 20 years. The decision drew condemnation from international rights groups. I have personally contacted the White House asking for intervention. American and European troops are fighting in Afghanistan to support a government that sends people to jail for decades for exercising free speech. Read More.

CHRISTIAN WORKER SLAIN IN KABUL - Gayle Williams, a 34-year-old dual British-South African national who helped handicapped Afghans, was shot to death as she was walking to work this week. In a statement the Taliban said she was murdered for"spreading Christianity." She was with an NGO that assists poor handicapped children. The Afghan government condemned the attack, the same Afghan government that put a man in jail for 20 years for asking a question about women's rights in class. Read more.

MORE CHRISTIANS FLEE - Nearly 10,000 Christians have fled Mosul in the last month and none are returning despite a promise of cash from the Iraqi government that has failed to protect them. That 10,000 represents half the city's Christian population. They have fled as murders and attacks on their homes continue. The Iraqi government says it sent 1,000 police to Mosul to protect Christians, but this was a lie told to the Bush Administration to appease them. No additional police have been dispatched to Mosul. THE PRESIDENCY

WHITE HOUSE AND IRAQI CHRISTIANS -I am sure President Bush cares about his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ who are being murdered, raped and pillaged of their property in Mosul, Iraq. Unfortunately he cannot offend the Muslim despots from which the United States borrows hundreds of billions of dollars each year. Assisting the Christians would offend our Muslim overlords, and so the Middle East Christians must suffer.

Even the Fox News media reports which make the situation sound horrid are actually white washed. I have contacts on the ground in Iraq and it is far worse. (See International.)

I have been in touch with the White House almost daily about the situation. Answer: "The Iraqi government is integrating Christians into the police force." Yes, I knew that. Then they are sent to Muslim areas where they are killed. Christians need a Christian police force and anything less will not work, and the violence in Mosul proves this point.

OBAMA PULLS AHEAD - The situation looks so bad that European style socialism looks good in comparison. The European version, which the GOP has been warning about for decades, would actually be preferable to what we may have in store. The trio of Obama, Pelosi and Reid don't' want European socialism because the European economic system is actually "managed capitalism." Obama, Pelosi and Reid want to increase government revenue, (meaning higher taxes) to fund their radical social agendas. Example: Under European socialism, families choose the schools their children go to and the government pays the tab in the form of a voucher. NOT HERE: Obama and company want the system of forced geographic education where the children can be better controlled by the NEA.

THE CONGRESS

HOW ABOUT THAT FLORIDA 16TH? - Is there something in the water down there? The sex scandal in Florida's 16th district was the last straw for Christian voters in 2006. They stayed away from the polls as Republican scandals just kept piling up. Then, it was a gay Republican with a young boy problem; now it is a Democrat with a middle aged woman problem. Now the Democrat leaning Palm Beach Post has removed its endorsement from Congressman Tim Mahoney and told folks to vote Republican. The FBI may be involved because of a pay-off to Mahoney's mistress.

COL. ALLEN WEST - Just south of Florida's 16th lies another first term Democrat controlled district that may go Republican. Col. Allen West could very well be the next J.C. Watts. If elected, the solid social conservative would be the only African-American Republican in the House. The Mahoney scandal is spilling over into the 22nd district and West may be able to take advantage of it. If we wins he will be a valuable ally to social conservatives in Washington.

STILL GONE - The Congress is back in their districts trying to get votes and raise money. There will be no official session of the Congress until after the election in November.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

A MISSION TOO FAR? Over the many decades that I have gone on fact finding and mission trips I have never become ill, despite eating strange foods and sometimes sleeping on the ground. That changed this past month when I contracted a very powerful strain of pneumonia that has just about left me unable to work at all for more than a week. I apologize for the shorter and missing updates, but my health has not allowed me to be more complete.

CURRENT IRAQI GOVERNMENT LIES JUST LIKE SADDAM - Prime Minister Maliki told the White House he was sending more police to Mosul to protect the Christian population. Our contacts on the ground report that if indeed they were sent from Baghdad they are hiding in their barracks. It is now being reported that Maliki was actually sending a "high level delegation" to determine who is doing the bombings. Is this a joke? Is they anyone in the world who doubts that the bombings are being plotted in the offices of Mullahs at the local Mosques? The current government in Iraq is no more trustworthy than that of dictator Saddam Hussein .... Opps, there is one difference; Under the former dictator Christians could live in peace in Iraq.

THE PRESIDENCY

MCCAIN OR OBAMA ON THE ECONOMY? -Neither Senator John McCain nor Barack Obama have a grasp of the current financial situation facing the United States or the world. Both offer band aid approaches that sound good to voters, such as mortgage bailouts and increasing the protection of funds in the bank. However, neither have any kind of a plan in place to rebuild capital. Instead of buying $700 billion in bad paper the government could have fixed every highway and bridge in America for the same money. The companies that did the work would be adding REAL capital to the markets. Both McCain and Obama are lost in the woods on economic matters. That leaves only one thing to vote on -- social issues. If you want abortion pills given to grade school girls, euthanasia administered by Medicare, and loss of your freedom of speech, then vote for Barak Obama. If you want unborn babies protected and marriage between one man and one woman preserved as an institution in America, then vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. DOES AYERS REALLY MATTER? - William Ayers in an unrepentant domestic terrorist who was head of an organization that bombed the Capitol Building and the Pentagon, in other words the same terror targets as Osama Bin Laden. Obama says Ayers is "rehabilitated" but Ayers says he is not at all sorry for his acts. Read about the Ayers - Obama relationship.

DEMS WANT THE DEAD AND CATS TO VOTE - ACORN, the leftist group that blackmailed banks into issuing mortgages to those who could not afford them, has registered 1.3 million "voters" in inner-cities. A lot of them are dead, some of them are pets, and a lot of them are registered dozens of times. This is how the Natzis got Hitler elected in Germany -- voter fraud. Republican House leader John Boehner has demanded that federal funding of the group be halted. Read more

THANK GOP FOR FUNDING ACORN - The Republican Party controlled Congress for twelve years, until January of last year. During that time they continued to fund all of the left wing organizations the Democrats had funded for decades. The politically correct Republicans refused to fund groups that supported them because it "would not look right." The result is that there is no conservative organization to rival ACORN.

THE CONGRESS

CONGRESS IS GONE AGAIN - The Democrat Party controlled Congress has done all of the damage it can do to the economy for this year and has gone home to campaign for reelection with the lowest approval rating in history. Congress will be in recess until after the national elections.

MCDONALD'S NOT SO GAY AFTER ALL Just a few short months ago the giant Mickey D restaurant chain announced it had joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. Back in April McDonads vice president Richard Ellis said he was "thrilled" to join the board of the homosexual organization. I'll bet he is less than thrilled with his new assignment in Canada, north of the Arctic Circle. Apparently the franchise operators, who are mostly church going family people, didn't like the idea of being boycotted by Christian groups so that Ellis could be "thrilled" with his gay buddies. With the departure of Ellis to Canada, McDonald's Corporation is dropping its membership in the homosexual organization. Read more

The Borrower is the Servant of the Lender

A single verse of Old Testament Scripture explains the current turmoil of the Western financial markets: The Rich rule over the poor, And the borrower is the servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7

The biggest concern of the Congress and the Bush Administration during the current financial crisis is to save the investments of the Chinese, the Japanese, the Saudis and other foreigners. Undersecretary of the Treasury, David McCormich actually called foreign investors to assure them that bonds issued to them by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would be honored before the government took over those mortgage companies. When the government took over the two firms, the American stock holders including those with preferred shares lost all their money. Meanwhile the Japanese, Chinese and Saudis got every dime they had invested in those institutions guaranteed for repayment. That has been repeated in virtually every government takeover this year, including that of Washington Mutual.

Why? The trade imbalance is so great because of imports from China and oil from the Middle East, that the only way to attract dollars back to the USA is to borrow them. The reality is that the Iraq war debt along with most of the funds to bail out Wall Street is money borrowed from the dictators of China and the Islamic royalty of Saudi Arabia. Without money borrowed from them, the Treasury would have to print huge sums of money and cause such inflation that our economy would collapse.

This problem would not exist if the Democrats had allowed drilling for oil and expanded coal mining here at home. In North America, we have more energy reserves than do the Saudis. It is just that liberals and environmentalists have blocked obtaining that energy. As a result we are transferring the wealth of our nation overseas in exchange for energy. As an example, the largest deposits of uranium in the world are in Virginia, but it is against the law to mine it. No new nuclear plants have been authorized in the United States for decades.

The Democrat controlled Congress voted to allow offshore drilling for oil a short time ago as the anger of the American people rose with the cost of energy. Unfortunately the bill is just a farce based on lies. Radical Nancy Pelosi, who controls the House, presented a 243 page bill to congressmen just a few hours before scheduling a vote. It allowed drilling for oil from 50 to 100 miles offshore. No oil company will buy a lease or drill there, because 90% of the oil is within 50 miles of the shore. Also, the bill still forbids any drilling at all off the coasts of California and Florida where most of the oil actually is located. At the same time, the bill raised taxes on energy so that the heating bill of every American would go up this winter if it is passed into law.

It gets worse: American individuals and companies have $13.5 trillion invested overseas because of the high tax rates on business here in the U.S. Our government taxes corporations at the second highest rate in the world, so they simply build their factories overseas. If the tax rate were lowered and the $13.5 trillion were moved back to the U.S., the amount borrowed from the Saudis and the Chinese to finance everything from the Iraq war to home construction would decrease.

Senator Barack Obama has an answer to all of this. Unfortunately it is the same as the answer San Francisco radical Nancy Pelosi has -- raise taxes even higher on corporations and investors. Gov. Mike Huckabee had an interesting comment on the Pelosi-Obama tax increases. He pointed out that corporations don’t pay taxes, just collect them. If an oil company is taxed another 10 cents for every gallon of gas it sells, it simply charges the customer 10 cents more per gallon. There is really no such thing as a “corporate tax” because the corporations see the tax as a business cost and pass it on to the consumers. The Pelosi - Obama tax increases are really just inflation drivers that will make our paychecks worth less.

When extremist Muslims murder Christians in Iraq or the Chinese send us lead filled toys and contaminated candy that harms our children, our government mildly complains. The reality is that the Federal government cannot do much to stop contaminated generic drugs from being shipped from China or to stop the Saudis from sending hate filled school textbooks here either, because we can't offend the lenders. The United States is a debtor nation and cannot afford to offend those who lend to us.

We are transferring almost $700 billion a year to the Chinese and the Saudis to buy toasters at Wal-Mart and gas for our tanks. They then lend us back the money and we pay them interest on it. Exactly how long does this work before the nation is broke and totally the servant of the lenders? Leadership is needed now and it is not being displayed by Democrats or Republicans in the Congress. Rather than than make the hard decisions for long term gain, the Congress leans toward sending out checks to appease the peoples' appetite to buy contaminated Chinese made toys.
