THE PRESIDENCY
OBAMA A NO-SHOW FOR MEMORIAL DAY - President Obama has decided to head off for a few days vacation over the Memorial Day weekend and will send Vice President Biden to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. The President will be celebrating the "in-your-face" victory for homosexuals who want to flaunt themselves in the military. With Obama's support, the Department of Defense authorization which passed in the House will force most chaplains out of the services.
THE BIG UNLUCKY NUMBER - Sometime between now and Memorial Day, the federal debt will hit $13 trillion dollars. That amounts to $42,000 per resident of the USA regardless of age or legal status. If we were to count only adults and those in the nation legally, the debt owed per person would be almost double that amount. The per capita income in the United States was $36,700 last year, meaning that on average, everyone in the nation owes more as their share of the national debt than they make in income for a year.
RATIONING MEDICARE - President Obama's nominee to run Medicare told a group last year, "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care--the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open." Donald Berwick, a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, was nominated by Obama on April 19, 2010 to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He is a proponent of the public health care system in the UK and has said, "Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized, and humane must - must - redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate." See CNS story

THE CONGRESS
GAYS IN-YOUR-FACE TO VETERANS- It was only last Tuesday that there were warning signs that President Obama had given the order to Nancy Pelosi to pass "gay in your face" legislation governing the military services just prior to the Memorial Day recess. Before there could be any real organized opposition, the pro-gay Democrat majority passed the "gay in your face" legislation out of committee and placed it on the floor on Thursday night, under rules that allowed changes. The legislation was passed as an amendment to a Department of Defense authorization bill. If passed by the Senate later this session, homosexuals would be allowed to openly solicit sex from members of the same gender in the military. The Democrats could have passed this legislation at any time, but because of the opposition from all veterans groups, they decided to pass it as a parting "in your face we hate you veterans" vote as lawmakers departed for Memorial Day recess.
HOUSE AND SENATE IN RECESS - Both Houses are in recess and no votes are scheduled in the House until after 6:30 PM on Tuesday, June the 8th, although some members will return on June 7th for committee meetings. As a result, the nation is safe from further moral decay and excessive spending for the next ten days.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
AMERICAN IDOL GOES GAY, THEN GOES DOWN - Just last year American Idol on the Fox TV network was at the top of the charts. Then "in your face" lesbian activist Ellen DeGeneres became one of the judges, and since then the ratings have plunged. Up to that point the strength of the show was family viewers. Country singers were virtually always the most voted for, and ratings for the show were at the top in the South. DeGeneres' statement on the May 14th show, "Yes, I have loved a woman," just about finished off the show for families. Gary McCullough of Christian Newswire predicted back in January that there would be a collapse in ratings at American Idol because of DeGeneres.
INTERNATIONAL
MORE EXPULSIONS FROM MOROCCO - In last week's update I reported a total of 63 expulsions of foreign born Christians from Morocco. That number has now reached more than 100. Those deported from Morocco worked in various non-profit organizations such as orphanages. The mainstream media in the USA, even Fox News, is ignoring the crackdown on Christians in Morocco in order to keep the myth alive that there are such things as "moderate" Islamic nations.
OUR JUNE MISSION TO JORDAN - In June, I will be traveling to the Middle East as part of a Religious Freedom Coalition mission to Iraqi Christian refugees. Funds are urgently needed for the medical portion of our mission which will deliver more than $50,000 in needed drugs to clinics. Obama official apologizes to China for Arizona's immigration law / Three high level Obama officials admit they never read Arizona immigration law before attacking it / Senator DeMint moves to protect parental rights in US from UN control / Congressman Wolf wants crack down on Christians in Morocco to stop / Supreme Court uses unratified treaty to explain their ruling / Are gays in Brazil more honest that those in USA? / The Rebecca Project and human trafficking / More on the bitter crack down in Morocco / Obliterating Iraq's Christians

NEW May 5, 2010 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT NOW ONLINE- The May 5, 2010 Chairman's Report is now available online. This issue contains: Obama believes Muslims will love the "Great Satan" if Jerusalem is given to the Palestinians, so he promises a Palestinian state in two years. THE PRESIDENCY

OBAMA OFFICIAL APOLOGIZES TO CHINA FOR ARIZONA LAW - A State Department official apologized to Chinese officials for Arizona's attempt to enforce immigration laws. The official, Michael Posner, said that the Arizona law was part of a "troubling trend in our society and an indication that we have to deal with issues of discrimination or potential discrimination." And how does China deal with their own "immigration issues?" Chinese soldiers have "shoot to kill" orders in dealing with those escaping from North Korea into China. China has concentration camps for those caught in their nation illegally. The nation has virtually no political freedom and the Internet is censored. Instead of criticizing or condemning China's draconian policies, our State Department and the White House defend the Chinese government and their actions.

Arizona Republican Sens. Jon Kyl and John McCain sent a letter to Posner on Tuesday demanding he retract his statement and issue an apology to the people of Arizona. "As the assistant secretary of state in charge of the bureau of democracy and human rights, your remarks are particularly offensive," they wrote. "There is no place for moral equivalency in democracy and human rights policy. The United States is the world's leader in defending the rights of all people. Someone in your position should be proud to proclaim that." Read Politico article

CAN THEY READ AT ALL? - Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano admitted during congressional hearings that she has not read the Arizona immigration law she has been criticizing on national news shows. At the hearing she asserted that it was "bad law enforcement law" even though she had not read it and only "knew of it." Last week Attorney General Eric Holder also admitted at a congressional hearing that he had not read the law. This admission came after he said the Justice Department may sue to stop its enforcemnent. On TV news shows he said the law would violate rights and that it was a "slippery slope" toward racial profiling. Then State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley also admitted not reading a single word of the bill, while he defended under secretary Michael Posner's criticism of it. This leads us to a burning question: Does anyone in the Obama Administration read anything before they run to the media to talk about it? Obama never read a word of the Health Care bill while he was running around the country promoting it. This is a 'from the top down' problem in the Obama Administration.

THE CONGRESS

PARENTAL RIGHTS - Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) this week introduced S.R. 519, a resolution opposing ratification of the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). This is an effort by DeMint and several co-sponsors to derail the Obama administration efforts to ratify the CRC, which would erase all parental rights, even the right for parents to take their children to church. A committee of 18 non-American "experts" in Geneva would have the authority to issue rules binding American courts and even state legislatures. Because a treaty requires 67 votes in the Senate, only 34 signers to S.R. 519 are needed to stop this insane treaty that would give the power of determining the rearing of American children to foreign bureaucrats. Read more at Parentalrights.org
WOLF DEMANDS HEARINGS AS MOROCCO CRACKS DOWN ON CHRISTIANS - Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), a champion of religious liberties, has announced hearings on June 17th to investigate the violation of human rights in Morocco, a "moderate" Muslim nation. The deportation of approximately 40 American citizens and many other foreign nationals on charges of proselytism has raised concerns about the status of religious freedom in Morocco. Those deported ran a wide array of humanitarian organizations including orphanages. The Village of Hope, an orphanage that takes in children who have been abandoned by their parents, was one of the targets. Time Magazine reported that "the Village of Hope deportations are part of what appears to be a widespread crackdown on Christian aid workers in Morocco." Meanwhile Congressman Wolf has demanded that the State Department issue a travel advisory for Morocco and suspend some funding. See Wolf letter to Sec. Clinton

CULTURE AND RELIGION
SUPREME COURT USES UNSIGNED TREATY - In the Congress section above, I related the problems inherent in the Convention of the Rights of the Child treaty (CRC) which the US has not yet ratified. Setting a very bad precedent, this week by a 6 to 3 vote, the Supreme Court used the CRC in a ruling stating that it was unconstitutional to sentence a juvenile to life in prison without parole in non-homicide cases. The Court cited the CRC and other international law in its decision. Michael Farris, head of the Home School Legal Defense Association said, "It is bad enough for the Supreme Court to engage in judicial activism. It is far worse when the justices employ international law in support of their far-reaching edicts. We have not ratified the UN child's rights treaty-its provisions should not be finding their way into Supreme Court decisions." Read more at HSLDA site
GAY HONESTY IN BRAZIL - The undisputed leader of the homosexual movement in Brazil, Luiz Mott, said on nation TV, "I am an ex-heterosexual in the same way that there are ex-gays, people that were not 100% homosexual. They had some experiences, did not like them and then joined the other side." He further admitted that homosexuals are not born that way by saying, "Usually I say, we need you heterosexuals, we love you so that you may reproduce children to become homosexuals..." I wish American homosexuals were as honest. They relentlessly persecute anyone who publicly proclaims that homosexuality is a choice, not a genetic condition. Maybe Obama's pick for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan can come out with a statement on the subject during her confirmation hearings.
THE REBECCA PROJECT - The Rebecca Project has a new video on child sex trafficking that shows how Craig's List is used to sell young girls. This year Craig's List will make $36 million selling sex ads. The video is just six minutes and is excellent. View here.

BITTER CRACK DOWN IN MOROCCO - In the past few weeks Morocco has ordered the expulsion of 23 Christian foreigners, including one American. This is in addition to the 40 workers that have already been expelled this year. Morocco claims that Muslims are being converted to Christianity as a result of the presence of the aid workers, some of whom have been there for decades. Many of those expelled work in orphanages.
OBLITERATING IRAQ'S CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY - Nina Shea, who serves on the Commission for International Religious Freedom, has written a new op-ed that should be read by every church leader and politician in America. One powerful paragraph says: "Relentless waves of bombings, assassinations, kidnappings, extortions and rapes have triggered a mass exodus of Christians from Iraq over the past seven years. Since 2003, over half of the estimated 1.5 million Iraqi Chaldean Catholics, Assyrian, Syriac Orthodox, and Armenian Christians, as well as some Protestants have fled to Syria, Jordan and farther flung places. While only 3 or 4 percent of Iraq's pre-2003 population, they account for 40 percent of its refugees, the UN reported." Read full article.

THE PRESIDENCY
JUST SHY OF HARRIET MIERS - When President George W. Bush nominated long time political ally and White House attorney Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court virtually every one on Capitol Hill including conservatives gasped. While a very nice person who was conservative and pro-life, Harriet Miers just did not have the judicial experience to become a Supreme Court Justice. Some compare President Obama's pick of Elena Kagan to that of Harriet Miers, but there is just one problem with that: Miers had more legal experience than Kagan. Virtually all of Elena Kagan's experience is academic in nature. Her main qualification is that she was a close buddy of Barak Obama at the Harvard School of Law. This is not an appointment of a qualified contender for such a high post, it is simple political pay back to an old friend. Forget about the fact that Kagan is a radical pro-abortion feminist who hates the military, she is simply too inexperienced. It takes more than reading ACLU one pagers to become a Justice. A former student of Kagan's, Carrie Severino, is exposing much of what is wrong with her record. You can read Carrie Severino material on Kagan at www.judicialnetwork.com
FORMER MUSLIM SAYS OBAMA HURTING PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS - Obama says he seeks a dialogue with the Muslim world, but he has done nothing to protect the oppressed Christians, Sabatina James told the Christian Post. She has moved several times in the past few years seeking shelter from being murdered for converting from Islam. "You (President Obama) are saying these things about the prophet [Muhammad] but why don't you protect [Christians]? You're a Christian and have such influence," she said about Obama's speech in Cairo. James book, My Fight for Faith and Freedom is a bestseller in Germany. She has moved 16 times since 2001 because of death threats. Read more in the Christian Post
WASHINGTON POST PRO-RELIGIOUS FREEDOM? Thomas Farr wrote a piece in the Washington Post titled, "Obama at the crossroads on religious liberty." In the article he quoted Leonard Leo, chairman of the Commission on International Religious Freedom as saying: "If the United States cares about human rights, if we value international stability, if we are concerned about countering extremism, freedom of religion ... must be a critical component of our nation's diplomacy, national security and economic development objectives." Farr said that the Obama administration 'should pay close attention to these words as it decides how to position its own religious freedom policy.' This was an extremely important article that highlighted the abuses of religious minorities and women in Muslim nations and I highly recommend it. Read Farr article here. The posted responses to Farr's article are interesting as they are mostly from the liberals who read the Washington Post. The responses are an open window into the very strange mind set of liberals who see enforcing US immigration laws as racist but stoning women to death in Saudi Arabia as a normal cultural activity.

THE CONGRESS
TEN COMMANDMENTS WEEKEND - For several years I have been working with Ron Wexler of the Ten Commandments Commission to officially declare the first weekend in May as Ten Commandments Weekend. For this purpose we have been working with various members of Congress. This year Congressman Paul Broun and 24 other congressmen co-sponsored H. Res. 1175 which "Celebrates the significant role the Ten Commandments have played in the development of public and private U.S. institutions," and "Encourages citizens of all faiths and religious persuasions to reflect on the impact that the Ten Commandments have had on the people and national character of the United States." Although it was not passed in time for this May, we can get it passed for next year. Please contact your congressman and ask him to contact Congressman Broun and co-sponsor H. Res 1175. CANTOR STARTS "YOUCUT" SITE - Congressman Eric Cantor, the Republican Whip, is posting each week outrageous expenditures by our government and asking Americans to vote on dumping them from the budget. Cantor is one of the sharpest guys in the House and the YOUCUT site is a must for conservatives. Official YOUCUT site.
WATCH PENNSYLVANIA TUESDAY- This coming Tuesday, May 18th, there are primary elections in Arkansas, Kentucky, Oregon and Pennsylvania. So far in May a Republican Senator and a Democrat congressman have been booted out by their own party's voters. This could happen again in Pennsylvania if the Democrats reject turn-coat former Republican Senator Arlene Specter who is now trailing a liberal congressman. The same day there is a special election for the seat of deceased congressman John Murtha. Despite the fact that the district is 2 to 1 Democrat the polls show that Republican businessman Tim Burns could win the seat.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
ATHEISTS CAN'T STOP INAUGURAL PRAYERS- Atheists, led by the notorious Michael Newdow have lost another round in the courts in their efforts to stop prayer and other religious elements during presidential inaugurations. This week a three-judge panel of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia upheld the dismissal of the atheist lawsuit that would have stopped Chief Justice Roberts from using the words "so help me God" in the inaugural oath. The atheists also wanted to stop ministers from praying at inaugurations. See Baptist Press

MORE PERSECUTION IN IRAQ - At the beginning of May buses carrying Christian students were bombed near Mosul killing four and wounding more than 150. No action has been taken by authorities. The Assyrian News Agency is reporting that there is now a coordinated effort to drive Christians from the Mosul area by Muslim terrorist organizations. Of the 1,000,000 Christians in Iraq at the beginning of 2003 when the current war began only 400,000 remain and many of those have been driven from their homes. An IPS report details the plight of Christians who have fled Iraq completely an now live in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. (Note, there are some factual errors in the IPS report because most Iraqi Christian refugees do not register for fear of deportation. Including "undocumented" refugees there are over 100,000 Iraqi Christians in Jordan.)

Navy Seals cleared of "abusing" terrorist murderer / Terror, political correctness and the New York mayor / Congressmen back evangelist Franklin Graham to pray at Pentagon / Why Democrats let the hedge funds off the hook / Graham says we may not be able to pray in public in his lifetime / Students suspended for having US flags on their T-shirts / A new anti- Jesus South Park / Christian school buses bombed in Iraq

NEW May 5, 2010 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT NOW ONLINE- The May 5, 2010 Chairman's Report is now available online. THE PRESIDENCY
NAVY SEAL NOT GUILTY - The last of three Navy Seals falsely accused by politically correct Navy officers of assaulting an Islamic terrorist murderer has been found not guilty. A military jury in Norfolk, Virginia rendered the verdict today in favor of Matthew McCabe. The young Navy Seal had thousands of followers on Facebook and petitions in the hundreds of thousands were signed on his behalf. In its quest to put the Navy Seals behind bars, the Navy actually flew two other Seals to Baghdad where the Islamic terrorist murderer, Ahmed Hashim Abed, testified that they had given him a "bloody lip." An oral surgeon testified for the defense that the blood probably came from an ulcer. The attempted prosecution of the three Seals has lowered the overall morale of special operations personnel in all branches of the service.
TERROR AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS - One of President Barack Obama's best buddies, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, accused conservatives of the attempted bombing in Times Square before anyone had any idea what had even happened. He told CBS News minutes after the attempted Islamic terrorist attack, "If I had to guess 25 cents, this would be exactly that, somebody who's homegrown, maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn't like the health care bill or something, it could be anything." Yes mayor, anything other than Islamic terror. Then, after a Pakistani born radical was apprehended and confessed, Obama media cronie MSNBC ran a series of stories saying that Islamic terrorist Faisal Shahzad set off the bomb because his house was being foreclosed on. Even more stupid liberal theories behind the bombing can be found at the Washington Examiner.

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESSMEN BACK EVANGELIST FRANKLIN GRAHAM - Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Congressman Mike Pence (R-IN) and 35 other congressmen sent a letter to Defense Secretary Robert Gates Wednesday asking him to reconsider the decision to revoke an invitation to Rev. Franklin Graham to participate in a National Day of Prayer at the Pentagon. At a news conference Franks said, "Our Founding Fathers realized that chief among our inalienable liberties is the right to possess one's own religious beliefs, and the ability to express those beliefs freely. No one knows the cost of defending and protecting the sacred freedom of religious expression more than our noble men and women in the armed services. To rescind Franklin Graham's invitation for these overtly political reasons is a disgrace that is obviously being done to placate a few outspoken critics, and an affront to those ideals that are the essence of America and that are reflected throughout America's history." Letter to Gates
LETTING THE HEDGE FUNDS OFF THE HOOK - Financial reform is all the big rage among Democrats on Capitol Hill as they claim to rein in the evils of Wall Street. But the Financial Reform bill lets the big hedge funds off the hook. Hedge funds will continue to be able to trade huge blocks of stock in secret and will not have to disclose ownership. I wonder why? Could it be because the top 10 highest-paid hedge fund managers in 2009 gave political contributions almost exclusively to Democrats? According to Roll Call, "Over their lifetimes, those managers have given almost $33 million in campaign contributions to Democrats..." and virtually nothing to Republicans. In all, the big hedge fund managers gave 98% to Democrats and just 2% to Republicans. A union official said about Congressional treatment of the hedge funds, "It's very disconcerting to see this legislation moving forward that gives them a complete pass."

CULTURE AND RELIGION
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER - Evangelist Franklin Graham held an unauthorized prayer meeting outside the Pentagon on the National Day of Prayer after being "dis-invited" by the military brass because of complaints by the Muslim insiders who influence Secretary Gates and the Chiefs of Staff. During the prayer meeting he said, "I think its coming to this country where we (will) have the freedom to preach inside a church wall, but we will lose the freedom to do it outside. That day will probably come - maybe in my lifetime." Graham was the honorary chairman of the National Day of Prayer, a day set aside by Congress for our nation to pray. Read more at CNS.
STUDENTS SENT HOME BECAUSE OF US FLAG - It just had to happen! A California high school sent five students home on "Cinco De Mayo" because they were wearing t-shirts with the US flag on them. The principal told them that the flag was "offensive" to the Mexicans at the high school who were celebrating "their independence day." Virtually every constitutional attorney in the nation has said that the Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill violated the free speech rights of the students. To make matters even worse, the Mexican students were allowed to display flags, some drawn on their faces and chests.
ANTI-JESUS ON SOUTH PARK - The semi pornographic and always vile cartoon series South Park censored a program that satirized Mohammad after death threats were made to the producers. True to their liberal double standard they now plan another series for the show based on Jesus Christ. It will of course be profane; the difference is that Christians will not threaten to murder the producers. See Fox News video.

INTERNATIONAL
CHRISTAN SCHOOL BUSES BOMBED IN IRAQ - The bombing of school buses near Mosul on May 2nd has caused the Catholic Archbishop of Mosul to call for UN intervention to protect Christians in Iraq. "It is urgently necessary to have a United Nations intervention to protect Christians in Iraq" stated Bishop George Casmoussa, Syrian Catholic Archbishop of Mossul. The Bishop spoke after a bomb attack on Sunday that killed four Christian students and injured 170.

The Bishop said, "The Christian community lives in fear. We are exhausted from continual violence, terror and insecurity. If this situation continues we can no longer live in this land, our beloved homeland." The day after the bombings more than 2,500 Christians from Hamdaniyah protested in the streets against the continuing attacks on innocent Christian civilians. Officially, the United States says that attacks on Christians in Iraq are "criminal" or "political" in nature and have nothing to do with persecution. Read more

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM AMBASSADOR - For almost two years the office of Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom has been vacant. It would be the Ambassador's responsibility to look into violations of religious freedom such as the attacks on Christians in Iraq. But Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are too busy selling bonds to Muslim despots who finance entitlements here in the United States, to bother with religious freedom. This week I spoke with Senator Jim DeMint and asked him to try to get the White House to fill the vacancy.
PETITION TO HILLARY CLINTON ON IRAQI CHRISTIANS - Read and sign the Internet petition to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The petition urges Clinton to direct our embassies to assist Christians who have fled Islamic terror in Iraq. The petition is located at www.iraqichristianrefugees.org.
