PRESIDENCY 

THE PRESIDENT, ISRAEL AND GAYS?- And I thought Fidel Castro had long rambling speeches! During his address to the United Nations this week I got lost someplace between President Obama calling for an Islamic state in Samaria and this: "No country should deny people their rights because of who they love, which is why we must stand up for the rights of gays and lesbians everywhere." The remark had one goal, to raise money from homosexuals for his 2012 campaign.

OBAMA AND THE PALESTINIAN STATE - Last year President Obama demanded that Israel return to the "67" borders and promised Palestinians everything they had ever demanded. After telling Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in advance that all his demands would be met, the President can't figure out why Abbas will no longer negotiate with Israel and instead demands a seat at the UN.

NETANYAHU RESPONDS - Prime Minister Netanyahu's response to Mahmoud Abbas' viral anti-Israeli speech was logical and balanced: '"I came here to speak the truth. The truth is that Israel wants peace. The truth is that I want peace. The truth is that Israel wants peace with the Palestinians, but they want a state without peace, and the truth is you shouldn't let that happen," he said. "The Palestinians should first make peace with Israel and then get their state. After peace is signed, Israel won't be the last country to accept a Palestinian state - we will be the first." SHOVEL READY? - I don't normally work on economic issues on Capitol Hill, but l must attend meetings where these issues are discussed. At a recent event someone handed out a summary of the Stimulus Bill included "shovel ready" spending on our highways. Of the $825 billion spent, just $27.5 billion, or less than 3%, was spent on roads and bridges. Where did the rest go? There were 3,545 "green jobs" created at a cost of $4.83 million each. There were 1,100 of those jobs lost when Solyndra went belly up.

THE CONGRESS 

U.S. COMMISSION ON INTERNATIONAL RELIGIOUS FREEDOM COULD SHUT DOWN - The U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, an independent government watchdog for abuses of religious freedom abroad, may cease to exist if the Senate doesn't act over the weekend to reauthorize it. Congress leaves soon for a week long recess and the commission will shut down Sept. 30 without Senate reauthorization. One Democratic senator is apparently holding up the reauthorization, according to several sources. An extension has passed the House but Senate action is needed. Contact your Senators now!

RELIGION AND CULTURE 

GAY AGENDA: FROM WHITE HOUSE TO SCHOOL HOUSE - This past Tuesday, high school freshman Dakota Ary was given in-school suspension for stating in class that he believes homosexuality is wrong because of his Christian faith. Liberty Counsel is representing Dakota in this case, demanding full vindication and a full retraction of the suspension. If the school board does not comply, a lawsuit will be filed for violation of Dakota's First Amendment rights. Read more

THE GROUND ZERO MOSQUE

MUSLIMS CAN VETO TAXI CAB ADS - Christians and Jews driving cabs in New York for years complained about vile advertisements on the tops of their cars for strip clubs. The Taxi Commission in New York City said the ads were up to the owner of the taxi medallion, not the driver or car owner. Then the Muslims complained and the rules were changed. The medallion owners must now get driver or owner approval of ads. Point: While Muslims make up less than one percent of New York's population, laws are frequently changed to accommodate them.

DANISH MEGA-MOSQUE - The city council of Copenhagen has given its final approval for the construction of the first official "Grand Mosque" in the Danish capital. The mega-mosque will have a massive blue dome as well as two towering minarets and is architecturally designed to stand out on Copenhagen's low-rise skyline. Read more  
NO AID FOR CHRISTIAN OR HINDU FLOOD VICTIMS - Christian and Hindu flood victims are being denied aid by the Pakistani government and Muslim organizations, charges Father Mario Rodrigues, national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies. "The only channel to get humanitarian aid to displaced people belonging to religious minorities, Christians and Hindus, is Caritas [the Church's charitable agency] " he told the Fides news agency. The US government gives Pakistan billions of dollars a year in aid. Read more
AT LEAST 110 MORE CHRISTIANS DEAD IN JOS - A rash of attacks by armed Muslim extremists on villages in Nigeria's Plateau state in the past month have left more than 100 Christians dead, including the elimination of entire families. In a guerrilla-type "hit and run" attack on the Christian community of Vwang Kogot, Muslim attackers at about 8 p.m. on Sept. 9 killed 14 Christians, including a pregnant woman. Read more

OBAMA BYPASSES CONGRESS AGAIN - President Obama was warned even by Democrats that Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren was too radical to be confirmed by the Senate to virtually any post. Taking this advice, he created a new title and post for her, thus allowing him to give her control of a vast agency without Senate confirmation, Republican congressmen Darrell Issa and Spencer Bachus in a letter last Friday to the White House general counsel said, "By giving Professor Warren responsibilities at both the White House and the Treasury Department, he is undermining Congressional oversight while giving her substantive authority over the CFPB. This is unprecedented." In this post at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Warren will have vast control over the banking industry.  
OBAMA'S STIMULUS - In just two years nearly two trillion dollars in debt has been generated to "stimulate" the economy. Much of that money has been borrowed from wealth producing nations such as China and Saudi Arabia. How much is a trillion? If the United States paid back just one trillion dollars at a dollar a second it would take 32,000 years for the payback. It is now virtually impossible for the United States to repay its outstanding obligations. If the 40,000,000 babies that have been aborted since Roe v. Wade been allowed to be born, there would be no revenue problem in the United States at all. Liberals like Obama champion killing the future taxpayers of the nation while spending wildly.

THE CONGRESS 

THE DEFENSE IMMIGRATION BILL? - Radical Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid believes that Republicans have to vote for the defense authorization bill no matter what it contains, so he has added a fast path for illegals in it. Reid believes this will secure him the votes of Hispanics in his tight race for reelection in Nevada. To secure the votes of homosexuals, he also plans to add an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill to allow homosexuals to "serve openly" in the Armed Services

NEED A WIFE, SEND A CHILD - Because of polygamy there is a shortage of Muslim women. As a result, the kidnapping of Christian, Hindu and Buddhist women is common in many countries. A new tactic has arisen in Eqypt to kidnap Coptic Christian women. A child is sent to a Christian neighborhood to cry and act lost. The small child then approaches a young woman asking for help to return home and hands her a small piece of paper with his address on it. If the woman is sympathetic and assists the child to the address, she is pulled into the house, raped, and then forced into a Muslim marriage. Kidnapping Christian women in Egypt continues as a problem. Just recently a Coptic Christian priest's wife was kidnapped by a Muslim seeking a wife.

THE PRESIDENCY

OBAMA AND FREE SPEECH - Free speech died in Europe this week and President Barack Obama said nothing. Perhaps he said nothing because be plans the same repression of free speech in the United States as has occurred in the United Kingdom. A member of the Dutch Parliament was refused entry into the UK because he would disturb, "community harmony." Is this next for America and does it start with the "Fairness Doctrine?" Click here to read the Geert Wilders speech that U.K. government officials are so afraid of. If Wilders had been a pornographic author, both 10 Downing Street and the White House would be defending his right of free speech. How truly sad.

REVEALING CHOICE FOR JUSTICE DEPARTMENT - President Obama has nominated David Ogden as the deputy to Attorney General Eric Holder. This is an outrageous choice in that Ogden is an "absolutist" when it comes to abortion and pornography. He believes there should be no limit to on-demand abortions, he supports pornography producers, and he insists that libraries be forced to provide computers to those who desire to view porn. The final irony --his office would be in charge of enforcing federal laws regarding pornography. How does that work? Read this thorough white paper on Ogden.

THE CONGRESS

SPEAKING OUT FOR FREE SPEECH- Every congressman and Senator should have reacted with outrage at the expulsion from the United Kingdom of Dutch member of parliament Geert Wilders. I am astonished by the cowardice not only of the British government, but of our own elected officials who have failed to speak out. Wilders' expulsion was a line drawn in the sand that represents the end of Western civilization and the introduction of Sharia Law by intimidation in Europe and the United States. If good men will not stand to defend Geert Wilders and his right of free speech, in the end all of us will become slaves of Islam.

A THOUSAND PAGES OF STIMULUS - What is in the Stimulus Bill? No one knows for sure. The bill was delivered to the offices of congressmen by the Democrat leadership at 11:00 PM last night after most of them were home in bed. The bill has more than 1,000 pages and congressmen are expected to vote on it less than 18 hours after receiving it. YOUR HEALTH AND THE STIMULUS - Under the final Stimulus Bill a "health commission" will be set up to tell doctors what treatment is appropriate and what is not. According to a Bloomberg article, the language in the Stimulus is taken for the most part from a book by former Senator Tom Daschle promoting the rationing of health care. A provision would divide the cost of the treatment by the "remaining years" of life to determine if it is a waste of money. Read more

HAPPY SAINT VALENTINE'S DAY - While Valentine's Day is celebrated throughout the world very few recognize that it is actually a celebration of a 3rd Century Christian martyr. But the Saudi police who enforce Islamic law know all too well it is a Christian celebration. As Feb. 14 approaches they inspect gift shops for merchandise that is red or may be intended as gifts to mark Valentine's Day. Oddly the items are legal to sell at other times of the year. Read more

REMEMBERING MUMBAI - Just weeks ago Islamic terrorists killed hundreds during attacks on hotels and train stations in Mumbai, India. There is a firm link between the attacks and Lashkar-e-Taiba and other radical Islamic groups in Kashmir. Saudi Arabia contributes to Lashkar-e-Taiba motivation, ideology, and funding. While promoting itself as a protector of Muslims around the world, Saudi Arabia funds the extremists who murder civilians. The center of Islamic evil in the world today is Wahhabi Saudi Arabia. IS LOYALTY RACIST ? - Unexpectedly, a small political party came in third in Israeli elections, with a platform to pass a law requiring everyone to swear an oath to Israel or lose their citizenship. Some call this racist because the Arabs who live in Israel and now claim citizenship would refuse to swear an oath to the country that they are currently exempt from fighting for. You read that right ... Israeli Arab citizens do not have to serve in the army. Now Avigdor Lieberman,the leader of the small party advocating a loyalty oath, may well determine who leads the next government, since neither of the two larger parties won enough seats to form a government. THE PRESIDENCY

THE ABORTION PRESIDENT - Fifty-eight percent of Americans disagreed with President Obama's order to give overseas funding to organizations that provide abortions, according to a new survey. Only thirty-five percent supported him on it. Obama signed the order on Jan. 23, reversing the "Mexico City policy" -- a prohibition first implemented by Ronald Reagan. This policy does not allow government funding to overseas family-planning organizations that perform abortions or offer abortion counseling. Read more

THE FAITH BASED PRESIDENT - is this a joke? President Obama is going to expand the Faith Based outreach started by President Bush - with a few changes - because he is for "separation of church and state." His new Faith Based effort will give funds to religious groups only if they promise to hire people from outside their faith. This means that any Jewish groups accepting the funds will be required to hire Muslims who call for the destruction of Israel. Baptist groups will be forced to hire Mormons, and the Mormons will be forced to hire people who refer to them as a cult. Wow ... Let's all hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

The "PROTECT INNOCENT LIFE" PRESIDENT - Confused? So am I. At the annual National Prayer Breakfast President Obama stunned pro-life religious leaders by saying, "There is no God who condones taking the life of an innocent human being. This much we know." How can he hold this view and also sign an Executive Order giving funds to pro-abortion groups? The logic is simple: Barack Obama does not believe that an unborn baby is a human being. He follows the pro-abortion line that until a baby breathes in air, it has no mother or father; it is just a lump of cells. Read more

OBAMA IS RIGHT ABOUT PAY EXCESSES The Washington Times is the most conservative and pro-business newspaper in the United States and perhaps even the world. Imagine my surprise to see a Washington Times editorial that said President Barack Obama was right to criticize business executives for excessive bonuses. The Times pointed out that while racking up $35 billion in losses for their stockholders, Wall Street executives paid themselves $18.4 billion in bonuses. About half the loss to investors was actually bonus pay. Now that is disgusting, and the Washington Times was right to agree with Barack Obama on this one. Read editorial

THE CONGRESS

STIMULUS EXCLUDES RELIGIOUS GROUPS- There is plenty of "green spending" in the Stimulus bill, including funds for schools and colleges to renovate older buildings or to build new energy efficient buildings. There is a big catch: If the funds are accepted, the buildings cannot be used for any religious purpose. During the 2008 campaign Barack Obama and the Democrats courted religious voters, but now that they are in power they are showing their true secularist colors. Read more

BIRTH CONTROL AS STIMULUS - Apparently the Democrat controlled Congress under radical San Francisco leftist Nancy Pelosi believes that having fewer babies will stimulate the economy. Not only are millions of dollars given to pro-abortion groups such as Planned Parenthood, the rules of the funding undermine families. Under the bill, clinics must give birth control pills and devices to underage girls without consulting their parents. The bill also gives funds to the CDC to fight sexually transmitted diseases, since STD's will increase when birth control pills are handed out like candy at schools. The Democrats call these program "economic stimulus."

CHRISTIAN GROUPS DON'T GET IT - Most social conservative groups are being led around by the nose by the GOP, and so are fuming about the pork in the Stimulus bill and ignoring the anti-family rules that are in it. The Stimulus will pass, and social conservative and pro-life groups are wasting their time trying to stop passage. Instead they should be working hard to change language that is damaging to the traditional family and faith based schools such as in the examples noted above.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

HALF A MILLION BABIES SUSPENDED IN A FROZEN HELL - News of a single mother giving birth to eight babies at once in California stunned the nation, but it should also make us aware of an American practice that is very wrong. In Germany and Italy no more than three embryos may be produced in fertility clinics and all three must be implanted in the mother. In the United States, sometimes dozens are produced, yet few are implanted. There are 500,000 babies frozen in the United States, and no one knows what to do with them. These are the "extra" embryos our fertility doctors have produced. Read more

LIVE BABY TOSSED IN BIO HAZARD BAG - The abortionist was running late to work, and the woman seeking an abortion gave birth to a live baby girl. An employee cut the umbilical cord and tossed the live baby in a trash bag and tied the top. "The baby was just treated as a piece of garbage," said Tom Brejcha, president of The Thomas More Society, the law firm that is also representing the mother who sought the abortion. "People all over the country are just aghast,." he said. Florida authorities are looking into possible criminal charges against the doctor, who was trained in Haiti. Read more

ACTION TO ASSIST IRAQI CHRISTIANS - This week former Governor David Beasley of South Carolina visited Washington to talk with congressional leaders about the plight of Iraqi Christians. Traveling with Governor Beasley was a representative of the Religious Freedom Coalition's ministry partner in Amman, Jordan. Together the two men made the case that the United States must have an official policy toward the religious minorities in Iraq, something that was not done under Secretary of State Rice during the Bush Administration. In addition to one-on-one meetings, Governor Beasley spoke at several meetings to leaders of social conservative organizations who may be able to assist Iraqi Christian refugees. Our ministry partner returned to Jordan with about $48,000 in contributed medical supplies. Please help!

"THIRST NO MORE" KICKED OUT OF SUDAN - A group providing new water wells has been thrown out of Sudan's Darfur region after officials found Arabic-language Bibles in their office. Officials said they had decided to expel the Texas-based group "for its violation to the Voluntary Work Act. A government spokesman said Thirst No More was supposed to be in the war-torn region supplying drinking water and "failed to provide justification" for its ownership of about 3,400 Bibles. Apparently the Sudanese dictatorship has the same view of separation of church and state as President Barack Obama. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY

PAY BACK THE TRIAL LAWYERS- The first bill to be signed by President Barack Obama was the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act which effectively nullifies a 2007 Supreme Court decision that denied Lilly Ledbetter the right to sue her employer years after she left. The bill was actually written by trial lawyers and was introduced in Congress to allow lawsuits on "discriminatory" pay to women.

THE ABORTION PRESIDENT - NBC has rejected a pro-life Super Bowl commercial that praises President Barack Obama's mother for not aborting the first African-American president. The video has risen in popularity on YouTube with nearly a million viewings. The commercial emphasized that the baby she carried was at high social risk, with a broken home, a father who would abandon him and a single mother. The commercial begins with an ultrasound image of a baby moving in his mother's womb. The ad was financed by Fidelis, a Catholic group. View ad here.

MORE ABORTION PRESIDENT - President Obama's pro-abortion agenda is being made very clear by him. Read the "reproductive choice" section of the new White House website. It states that the new President. "... has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Administration." See site

THE CONGRESS

PLEASE ACT NOW - Congressman Todd Akin is once again preparing to introduce the Pledge Protection Act which would defend "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance to our nation's flag. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has sat on the atheist lawsuit to remove "under God" from the Pledge in hopes that the Justice Department under Barack Obama will agree with them that it is unconstitutional. We must be ready to defend "under God" in the Pledge. The Religious Freedom Coalition has a new social networking site to form groups to defend "under God" at www.pledgeundergod.com. NO NEW ROADS IN STIMULUS - Congressman Eric Cantor, the Minority Whip, stated that only 12 cents on the dollar of the $900 billion stimulus could be considered as being spent on infrastructure. Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma in his analysis said only $30 billion of the $900 billion was for roads and bridges. Where does the majority of the money go? The rest of the billions of dollars is pay-off for groups that helped elect Democrats. ACORN will get $4.9 billion. There is $2.7 billion for embryonic research which kills unborn babies for their parts; $150 billion to double the Department of Education's funding; $1.5 billion to build "green schools," and more. Almost 90% of the bill is pork to liberal groups and ideals that will not stimulate the economy.

STIMULUS COST - The "Stimulus Bill" comes at a cost of $2,700 for each man, woman and child in the United States if we all paid up this year. But our government is going to borrow this money from the Chinese and the Saudis with initial interest of $45 billion per year. Odds are that our government will never be able to pay the principle and our great great grandchildren will still be paying interest on the loans.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

FORCE DOCTORS TO DO ABORTIONS? - Yes, says Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union. The two groups are suing the Department of Health and Human Services over regulations to reinforce federal laws that protect doctors from being forced to participate in abortion and other procedures that are against their religious beliefs or conscience. Dr. David Stevens, executive director of the Christian Medical Association said, "We consider the right of conscience to be the biggest issues we face." Read more.

THE PRESIDENT

THE PRESIDENT'S NOMINEES- Most people are familiar with the fact that Democrat leader Senator Harry Reid is blocking several judicial appointments made by President Bush. Most do not know that he is also blocking appointments to many federal departments as well, including the FAA. There are now 180 important posts that are unfilled because the Democrats who control the Senate want to play partisan political games. To see how serious this has become read the President's remarks of this week.

THE PRAYER BREAKFAST - The President's remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast this week centered on prayer. He concluded saying, "I believe in the power of prayer, because I have felt it in my own life. Prayer has strengthened me in times of personal challenge..." Click here for full statement.

THE HOUSE

VETO AIDS BILL? - The Presidents' Emergency Program For Aids Relief (PEPFAR) has increasingly morphed into a bill that provides funding for groups that view prostitution as just another business, despite AIDS related issues. Some of the groups are brutally honest in saying that an aborted baby can't catch AIDS from the mother. Chairman Lantos' Democrat controlled committee has distorted PEPFAR, which up to now supported the highly successful ABC approach to stopping AIDS in Africa. A - Stay abstinent, B- If you can't be abstinent ,be faithful. C - If you can't stay faithful, use a condom. Under PERFAR the A and B would be forgotten and condoms and abortion pills would be passed out.

THE SENATE

STIMULUS PASSES - The Senate Democrats wanted to increase the "stimulus" package from $150 billion to over $200 billion but were blocked by Republicans. Some of the Democrat add ons were pure pork. The tax rebate feature of the stimulus package recommended by President Bush was previously passed by the House. Total cost is $151 billion this year and another $16 billion next year. The government will have to borrow this money and we, the taxpayers, will have to pay it back with interest. When you get your $600 check, keep in mind that the interest you will pay on it in taxes over the next 20 years will be about $1,500 at current rates.

Will the money be used by consumers to buy cheap Chinese junk as the Congress hopes? I'll use my check to pay my credit card. If most others do that as well, the stimulus will fail and the economy will stay in recession. Check www.roadsnotrebates for some answers.

RELIGION AND CULTURE

ROMNEY WHO? - Two days after "Super Tuesday" Mitt Romney announced that he has suspended his campaign for president. On the front pages it looked like he had a major victory on Tuesday, but that was not the case. He actually only won two primaries. In his home state of Massachusetts he received only 51% of the vote. He also won the Mormon state of Utah. The other victories were small caucus states. All told Romney won fewer actual primaries than Mike Huckabee. I was in Little Rock with Governor Huckabee on Super Tuesday and I have written my reflections on that day which can be read at www.gingpac.org.

SAUDI FREEDOM? - An American businesswoman strolled down the street in the Saudi capital with Neil Bush, the president's brother, talking about all the "freedom" people have in the despotic kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Many Americans who are making lots of money in Saudi Arabia turn a blind eye to the Islamic terror there. But this particular businesswoman found out the hard way. Two weeks after the stroll with Neil Bush, she was arrested at a Starbucks for sitting with an unrelated male, a business partner. She was taken to jail, strip searched, and forced to sign a false confession. (See story) Meanwhile the head of the Anglican church says the West should accept Sharia law. Question of the day: is Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams totally nuts, or just blind to injustice. (See Story in UK paper)

DEATH FOR INTERNET ARTICLE PART II? - For two weeks I have reported on an Afghan student, Sayed Parwiz Kambakhsh, who had been sentenced to death for copying a paper from the Internet that the courts there deemed "blasphemous" to Islam. Bush officials told me the matter must be handled "quietly" and the story has vanished from the American press. It is still very much in the news in the UK where the Independent reports that our Secretary of State has publicly promised to talk to the Afghan president about the matter. Why is this not news in the United States? (See story)

RUSSIAN DICTATOR? - Our media and our Congress just can't seem to find any problems with the despotic Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. But the media is hounding Russian president Vladimir Putin as a dictator. They point out that the election next week, in which Putin is not even running, is rigged. Their proof? No funds have been set aside for a run-off election. No one bothers to make the point that we do not have a presidential run-off election in the United States if no one gets 51% of the vote. The real problem the media has with Russia is that it has become a Christian nation that challenges US efforts to secularize the world.
