THE PRESIDENCY

THE USCIRF BATTLEGROUND - There is no doubt that the Obama White House was behind the attempt to defund and shut down the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. The bleak reports from the USCIRF on religious persecution in many of the Islamic nations favored by President Obama moved his Administration to shut down the USCIRF through the back door. The point man, Senator Dick Durbin, is from Obama's home state of Illinois. He is Obama's former colleague and is also the Majority Whip, the number two Democrat in the Senate. The USCIRF is an embarrassment to an Administration which wants to pretend that Sharia law, which permits honor killings, is no different than English Common Law.  
THE WHITE HOUSE AND USCIRF - Republicans in the Senate forced through temporary funding for the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom; however, Democrats added a last minute Amendment that would get rid of many of the Bush appointees with "term limits" and allow Obama to stack the deck with liberals who have no problem with Islamic honor killings. The main sponsor of the bill in the House, Frank Wolf, called the demand blackmail. Late breaking news is that the amendment bill was passed by voice vote in the House.

CONGRESS 

SENATOR DURBIN'S WAR FOR ISLAM - Back in 2005 while George W. Bush was still in office, Senator Dick Durbin compared American soldiers to Nazis. He is now the second most powerful man in the United States Senate after Majority Leader Reid. Durbin's key staffer, Reema B. Dodin, is in regular contact with the Council on American Islamic-Relations, which is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism case. Dodin is a Palestinian rights activist who organized anti-Israel rallies at the University of California at Berkeley as a student. Dodin was also a member of the Muslim Students Association, which was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood. More on Dodin. Durbin's attempt to shut down the United States Commission on International Freedom should not come as a surprise to anyone. DURBIN USCRIF AMENDMENT - Senator Dick Durbin showed his true colors when tacking on an amendment to a bill reauthorizing funding for the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. The amendment retroactively limits commissioners to a total of four years of service, thus he gets rid of Nina Shea and other critics of radical Islam from the USCIRF. His amendment also limits travel of commissioners to the same standards as the State Department, meaning they will not be able to travel to areas where religious freedom is most in jeopardy. An example: State Department staff may not visit East Jerusalem. Durbin's refusal to fund USCIRF had nothing to do with freeing up money to fund a prison in Illinois as his staff suggested, and had everything to do with shutting down critics of radical Islam.
BIBLE BAN RESCINDED BY HOSPITAL - The Prayer Caucus, headed by Congressman Randy Forbes, (R-VA) intervened with the Walter Reed Armed Forces Hospital when it was learned that visitors had been banned from bringing Bibles and other religious objects to their loved ones. Congressman Steve King (R-IA) joined Forbes in demanding a change to the policy. Last week the hospital apologized and said a new policy would be issued. Read more

MOST MOSQUES IN US PROMOTE JIHAD - Perspectives on Terrorism recently released a comprehensive study on violence-advocating texts in American mosques titled Sharia Adherence Mosque Survey: Correlations between Sharia Adherence and Violent Dogma in U.S. Mosques. The Shariah Adherence Mosque Survey found that 80% of U.S. mosques provide their worshipers with jihad-style literature promoting the use of violence against non-believers and that the imams in those mosques expressly promote that literature. INTERNATIONAL 

WITCH IS 73rd PERSON BEHEADED IN SAUDI THIS YEAR - A 62-year-old Saudi Arabian woman convicted of "practicing witchcraft and sorcery," was beheaded this week according to the Saudi interior ministry. Amina bint Abdulhalim Nassar became the 73rd person executed this year. She was found guilty of witchcraft in the Jawf province of the Kingdom. A few weeks ago 9 people from Bangledesh were beheaded but the crime they committed is unclear. Actually, under Islamic law a death sentence sometimes requires no crime at all.

ATTACK IN COPENHAGEN - The Hare Krishna temple in Western Copenhagen was recently assaulted by a group of young Muslims throwing stones and breaking windows. To diminish the risk in the now Muslim-dominated neighborhood, the devotees of the temple were requested not to wear their characteristic clothes. The police took 30 minutes to respond to the first attack and never showed up after the second attack. Read more

OBAMA'S BLIND SPOT - When Libya's Moammar Gadhafi tried to put down an uprising of Muslim extremists, President Barack Obama rushed in to bomb the presidential palace in Tripoli. In Egypt, the Obama Administration made it clear to President Mubarak that he must leave power or see the wrath of the United States after he ordered the killing of some Muslim Brotherhood demonstrators. Yet, every single day, Christians are arrested, tortured and killed by Muslim extremist governments and Obama says nothing. Currently the Administration is working to overthrow the last secular nation in the Middle East -- Syria, the only nation in which Christians can still safely live. President Obama continues to ignore the real story in Iran, which is not the nukes, but the persecution of Christians. Read the rest

JOBS, JOBS, JOBS FOR SAUDI ARABIA- The very day President Obama announced he would speak to the nation on job creation, his Administration announced regulations that would kill jobs and increase dependence on Islamic nations for energy. As a result of the regulations coal mines will close, older oil refineries will close, and an additional $7 billion a year will be spent by businesses on more regulation. Corporations must recover the money someplace, and that means fewer jobs, Meanwhile the Administration has shut down "until further notice" the North Anna Nuclear Power Plant in Virginia, which was not damaged during the earthquake in August. It will probably never reopen, causing even more oil to be imported.

THE CONGRESS 

SENATOR LIEBERMAN: OBAMA TOO CONCERNED WITH OFFENDING MUSLIMS - "The administration still refuses to call our enemy in this war by its proper name: violent Islamist extremism," Lieberman said, speaking at a National Press Club event hosted by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START). "To call our enemy 'violent extremism' is so general and vague that it ultimately has no meaning. The other term used sometimes is Al Qaeda and its allies. Now that's better but it is still too narrow and focuses us on groups as opposed to what I would call an ideology, which is what we're really fighting." Read the rest

CLAYTON, MO (KMOX) - Taking heat from Muslim groups upset with a coloring book about the 9/11 attacks, a publisher says he's been in contact with local police and the FBI. Wayne Bell, the publisher of Really Big Coloring Books, Inc., says there's been a negative backlash against the book "We Shall Never Forget 9/11: The Kids' Book of Freedom." "These are people from Al-Jazeera that have called in here numerous times, people from Iranian TV, people from Palestinian Hamas TV," Bell said, "A lot of people from the Islamic community have called in here and said increasingly negative things prior to the book being made and then after we made the book too, about the book itself." GAFFNEY WARNS ON MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD - Former Undersecretary of Defense, Frank Gaffney said, "In recent weeks, we have been put on notice repeatedly: Absent a fundamental course correction, America will go the way of Europe and others before it, succumbing to an insidious totalitarian doctrine known as Shariah whose purpose, in the words of its prime practitioners - the Muslim Brotherhood - is to "destroy Western civilization from within." NLRB: CHURCH SCHOOL NOT RELIGIOUS ENOUGH - St. Xavier University was founded in 1846, and is the oldest Catholic school in Illinois. Its corporate member is a Catholic body with the "powers for the governance of" St. Xavier, that "links the University to the [Catholic] Church and makes it an officially recognized member of the Church." St. Xavier's Board of Trustees must have at least four nuns from the order that founded the school, and, according to its bylaws, its governing body must "ensure [St. Xavier] continues its educational and religious mission." After quoting these sources and many others, the NLRB's regional director concluded in true Orwellian fashion that "the evidence establishes" that St. Xavier is "a secular educational institution or university." CHRISTIAN CONVERTS FLEE ASYLUM CENTER - At the center for asylum seekers in Jaern, Norway, where a Christian convert last week was attacked with boiling water, four other Christians have fled the center because of threats. Muslims at the asylum center told Christians, "This is Jihad, holy war, and we are waiting for at fatwa (license to kill) from the local imam at the mosque in Sandnes." One young man going by the name of "Arsland" told the newspaper Dagen, "I had to escape and flee the asylum reception center in fear for my life. "Arsland" is from Afghanistan and had converted to Christianity. Read more

PRESIDENCY

"THE JEWS SHOULD LOVE ME" SYNDROME - There was unmistakable hatred in the eyes of President Barack Obama as he listened to Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu speak during an Oval Office press conference. The President maintained a glaring stare and sneer on his face as the Prime Minister refused to ethnically cleanse 400,000 Jews from their homes and move them into a nation that would be less than nine miles wide, under Obama's terms. Yet Obama undoubtedly saw the Prime Minister's brave defense of his small nation as insubordination. Liberals such as Barack Obama view all minorities as Democrat Party property. These individuals are supposed to support liberal policies simply because of their race, sex or ethnicity. As a Jew, Prime Minister Netanyahu is expected to follow the current liberal line even if it means the destruction of Israel.

THE CONGRESS 

PROTECTING LIFE AND MARRIAGE IN THE MILITARY -
1. Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) offered an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill (H.R. 1540) that states that only those marriage ceremonies which conform to the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) can take place on military installations. DOMA defines marriage as a union of one man and one woman. The Department of the Navy had recently given permission for chaplains to perform same-sex marriages, but quickly reversed itself after congressional pressure.

2. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) also offered an amendment to the Defense Authorization bill on "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" that would require all four military service chiefs to certify that gays in the military won't impact combat readiness or effectiveness before that White House policy allowing open homosexuality is adopted.

3. Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-M) offered an amendment to the same Defence Authorization bill that emphasizes DOMA in the military. The amendment defines marriage as a one man, one woman union for the military. All three of these military-related amendments passed out of committee and should be retained in the DoD bill.  
PRO-ISRAEL RESOLUTIONS - In response to President Barack Obama's demand that Israel return to pre-1967 borders that are not defendable, resolutions supporting Israel were introduced in the House by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-T) and in the Senate by Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah. See Gohmert's video statement
JEWISH CHAPLAINS MEMORIAL - Congress has authorized a Jewish Chaplains Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. Although 13 Jewish chaplains have died while on active duty, there is no memorial in their honor. Groups have been working to change that, and have raised private funds to pay for the memorial, designed the memorial, and now have Congressional authorization from the House needed to erect the memorial. The final vote on H.R. 1627 was 380 to zero with 51 present/not voting.

RELIGION AND CULTURE 
SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES SUPPORT ISRAEL - Leaders of groups representing tens of millions of Americans including American Family Association, Reclaiming America, the Religious Freedom Coalition and others ran full page newspaper and TV ads supporting Israel after the inflammatory statements of President Barack Obama. Under the banner of Israel, You're Not Alone the coalition of organizations met with congressional leaders in Washington this week. ATHEIST NEWDOW LAWSUIT KICKED OUT - The Supreme Court rejected atheist Michael Newdow's case challenging "So Help Me God" in the Presidential Oath. This is the second case this year that Newdow has lost at the Supreme Court level. The Court also refused to hear Newdow's case challenging "In God We Trust" on U.S. currency.
SEX CHANGE FOR SEVEN-YEAR-OLDS? - Dr. Norman Spack is a pediatrician who has opened a clinic at Boston Children's Hospital to treat kids as young as seven years old who are "confused about their gender identity." Instead of counseling the youngsters to help them gain confidence in their own God-given biological gender, Dr. Spack and his associates, and the pathetic excuses for parents who bring their children to this clinic, are engaged in something much more disturbing. ACLU DEFENDS SHARIA - The ACLU, which was among the first to, in their words, "applaud and congratulate" efforts to build the Ground Zero Mosque, is also among the foremost defenders of sharia law in America. The ACLU has mounted an offensive against the fifteen states which have adopted or are considering the adoption of legislation to ban sharia and other foreign or international laws from being considered in their courts. INTERNATIONAL 

MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD: SHARIA FOR EGYPT - A Muslim Brotherhood leader declared that Islamic Sharia Law would be imposed in Egypt if they come to power. Sobhi Saleh, a Muslim Brotherhood leader, claimed Sharia would protect not only Muslims but also those non-Muslims who pay the Jizya (protection money). Obama plans on giving more than $1 billion this year to Egypt. Read more

CHRISTIAN SISTERS KIDNAPPED AND FORCED TO MARRY MUSLIMS - In Faisalabad, Pakistan a powerful Muslim businessman, with the help of a group of accomplices, kidnapped two Christian sisters, forced them to convert to Islam and marry him. The girl's father reported the kidnapping to the police but the police blocked investigations by reversing the facts: they said the daughters fled because of their father's violence. A priest from the diocese of Faisalabad points out that the kidnapping of young women has become "common practice", because the authorities and police are "puppets in the hands of extremists." PLEASE NOTE TWO KEY ITEMS .. Both girls were forced to marry the same man. Islam allows men to have up to four wives. Read more
