Islamophobia: is it persecution?

I have posted a new video at Youtube/ChristianRefugees that examines claims of "Islamophobia" in the West in light of the latest round of church bombings in Muslim areas. Is Detroit next?

Demonstration for Iraqi Christians in Washington, DC

White House demonstration supporting persecuted Iraqi Christians

On Saturday, December 4th, 2010 a number of organizations held a demonstration in Lafayette Park across the street from the White House to call attention to the continued persecution of Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq. William J. Murray, the chairman of the Religious Freedom Coalition, was one of the speakers at the event. Murray's comments are at Youtube.com/ChristianRefuguees

July 9, 2010 - Washington, DC

No space flights for NASA, but agency is tasked by Obama for Muslim outreach / Obama silent on stoning of women / Elena Kagan and Sharia law / Michigan cops enforce Sharia law / CNN editor praises terrorist / More on the Middle East

NEW JULY 9, 2010 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT NOW ONLINE- The July 9, 2010 Chairman's Report is now available online. This issue contains: Barack Obama and Saudi sponsored hate speech. The Administration's switch to "freedom of worship" and what that means. Also, the story of Mosab Hassan Yousef - Why did Obama want to send this hero to a certain death? Also Supreme Court decision that hurt religious freedom, and more on Moroccan treatment of Christians. Click here for PDF version

PRESIDENCY
NASA'S MUSLIM OUTREACH - The head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Charles F. Bolden, Jr., explained how President Obama ordered him to make nice with Islam: " ... he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering." Hmmm, what contributions? The "Arabic" numbering system came from India ... AND ... looks nothing like the actual system that we call "Arabic." Constantinople was captured by the Muslims using French made cannons. Six Muslims have won the Nobel prize (three of those were for "peace" and included the mass murdering terrorist Yassar Arafat). On the other hand, 168 Jews have won Nobel prizes. But NASA has the task of showing the world the math and science contribution of Muslims. I get it ... a display of advanced suicide belt bombs at Cape Kennedy! See excellent Op-ed by Daniel Pipes To the left is the numbering system we use in the West and the system used in Islamic nations.

NO COMMENT ON STONING - President Barack Obama and his spokesman Robert Gibbs have a lot to say about almost everything, except atrocities and tortures in Islamic nations. In Iran, women are stoned to death for adultery and other offenses even if there is no evidence other than the hunch of their husbands who may just want to get rid of them. An Azerbaijani mother, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who confessed to adultery after receiving 99 lashes in public with a whip, has been sentenced to be stoned to death in June, in Iran. She will be buried up to her neck in a hole and then stoned. Iranian law states that no one stone can be large enough to kill her; that way she may suffer longer before death. Apparently Barack Obama has no problem with Sharia law.

His pick for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, accepted money from the Saudi Royal family to create a Center for "Islamic Studies and Sharia Law" at Harvard University while she was the Dean of the Law School. Because the Center is funded by Muslims, only a positive spin is put on Sharia law at Harvard. The Obama Administration has refused to utter even one word against stoning deaths in Muslim nations. The Religious Freedom Coalition is working with other American and European groups to embarrass the Iranian government in the world media and have Ashtiani released.

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESS IN RECESS - The House and Senate are in recess. No votes are scheduled in the House until 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 13th. The Senate will reconvene on Monday, July 12th.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

MICHIGAN COPS ENFORCE SHARIA LAW - No Christians were allowed, and the police enforced the rule. As the crowd shouted "Allah Akbar" four Christian missionaries were arrested on June 18, 2010 by the Dearborn Police at the Annual Arab International Festival. NOTE: 90% of Arabs in the United States are Christians who fled Islamic oppression. Christian Arabs were not allowed at the "Arab" festival. Dr. Nabeel Qureshi, MD, an Arab, was one of those arrested. Three others were arrested for video taping the arrest of Qureshi and their cameras illegally seized. Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented, "It's evident that the Dearborn Police department was more interested in placating Muslims than obeying our Constitution." Read more

THE MEDIA AND REALITY - The story I led with in the Presidency section about NASA being tasked with Muslim outreach was on the Fox News Internet site for days. It was carried by many conservative bloggers and was on Fox News TV broadcasts. The NASA Muslim outreach was not mentioned even once on ABC, CBS or NBC news. Meanwhile over at CNN, their editor for Middle Eastern affairs was fired after she showed her blatant bias for Islamic terrorists by mourning the death of a terrorist leader publicly. I seriously doubt CNN would have fired the editor, Octavia Nasr, had not Fox News exposed her public sympathy for the terrorist leader Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah.

INTERNATIONAL
IRAN BACKED DOWN FROM STONING? - Barack Obama said nothing about the planned stoning death of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said nothing. The National Organization for Women (NOW) seems not to have a problem with killing the woman with stones. But, the rest of the world is outraged and it is front page news all over Europe and Asia. Enough media has reported on it and enough European and Asian leaders have spoken up, that it appears that Ashtiani has been spared, for now. I say "for now" because in the past Islamic nations have postponed this kind of tortuous death until it is out of the news. See BBC report See also video about stoning in Iran made in 2008.

June 25, 2010 - Washington, DC

Report on RFC mission to the Middle East / The other Barack - Elena Kagan's hero / Freedom of worship to replace freedom of religion? / Kagan Senate hearings and Sharia / Israel space launch

NEW JUNE 23, 2010 CHAIRMAN'S REPORT NOW ONLINE- The June 23, 2010 Chairman's Report is now available online. This issue contains: a full report on the June mission trip to the Middle East organized by the Religious Freedom Coalition. THE PRESIDENCY

THE OTHER BARACK - Several months ago President Barack Obama appointed Elena Kagan to serve as a Justice of the Supreme Court. At that time he said she had "openness to a broad array of viewpoints." It turns out that "broad array of viewpoints" includes a view that appointed judges should be able to change the laws written by elected officials. A new video has surfaced of Kagan calling an Israeli extremist judge, Ahron Barak, her "judicial hero." Judge Barak admits his views may not work in "some democracies." Watch video of Kagan's astonishing endorsement. FREEDOM OF WORSHIP? - Freedom of worship is not the same as freedom of religion. Christians in Morocco and Jordan have freedom of worship, but they do not have freedom of religion. While they can attend their church and worship, they may not promote their faith openly, and converts from Islam to Christianity can be severely punished. In Saudi Arabia "apostasy" carries the death penalty. Now President Barack Obama and his Administration have abandoned the phrase "freedom of religion" and replaced it with "freedom to worship." Is this yet another surrender to Sharia? Read comments at Christianity Today.

CONGRESS

KAGAN SENATE HEARINGS - From a State Department document: "Under Shariah, as interpreted in [Saudi Arabia], sexual activity between two persons of the same gender is punishable by death or flogging." Yet, Frank Gaffney of Family Security Matters wrote: "Ms. Kagan was perfectly willing to obstruct the military, which has liberated countless Muslims from the hate and tyranny of Saddam Hussein and the Taliban, but it seems she was willing to sit on the sidelines as Harvard created a center funded by - and dedicated to - foreign leaders presiding over a legal system that would violate what would appear to be her position." In other words while she promoted homosexual behavior in the military, she accepted funds from a nation that hangs homosexuals. Why? Kagan is for anything which is anti-Christian, even Sharia law. Read Gaffney's expose.

INTERNATIONAL

ISRAELI SPACE LAUNCH - During the time I was in Israel, that nation launched a spy satellite from its Palmachim air force base located south of Tel Aviv. The Ofek 9 spy satellite joins other satellites that are used to watch the nuclear and other military preparations of Iran. Israel has a population of about seven million, but has a huge technological advantage over backward Islamic nations who repress freedom of thought and democracy. Freedom works, Sharia does not.

KRUPS: Made in China for the USA

Buying Chinese: Dumping junk on Americans
By William J. Murray
Date published: 12/15/2009 - First published in the Free Lance Star

KRUPS, a German company, makes some really great small appliances in Germany that can be purchased just about everywhere, except in the United States.

Because the vast majority of Americans care for glitz over quality, virtually all Krups appliances sold in the U.S. are made in China. A Krups coffee bean grinder with a metal frame made in Germany can be found at the duty-free store at the Dubai Airport as well as the main mall in Moscow. At Macy's a similar model with a plastic frame is made in China.

Not to pick on Krups, the same is true of the renowned German knife maker, Henckels, which sells German-made knives in Japan, but Chinese-made knives here in the U.S. French manufacturers T-Fal and Cuisinart also sell Chinese-made products in the U.S., while in Europe and the Middle East they sell products made in Europe.

And it gets worse:

Krups maintains factories in Europe with well-paid employees who are virtually all middle class. Most of their employees own their own homes. All have medical insurance and live very well. Krups owns no factories in China, and neither do T-Fal or Henckels. The products they sell in the U.S. are made for them under contract at Chinese factories where workers earn less for a 12-hour day than European workers make in one hour.

There is virtually no medical insurance in China: A visit to a doctor can cost a week's wages, and payment must be made in advance even for emergencies. Factories are poorly lighted, often bitter cold in the winter, and sweltering hot during the summer. In Germany, France, or the U.S., these working conditions would violate dozens of laws and bring jail time for the owners.

Do Krups executives and those of other European manufacturers even know what the plastics are made out of that are used to manufacture goods for the U.S.? Probably not, and they probably don't care, because the Chinese products are not going to be sold in Europe.

Since Americans don't seem to care about quality, safety, or the slave-like conditions of the workers, the chemical properties of plastics and other parts just are not that critical. As long as it is shiny and cheap, Americans will buy products for premium prices if they have European brand names.

Even Japanese firms follow the pattern. No Nikon cameras are sold in Japan that are made in China; but in the U.S., many Nikon models are made in China at factories not even owned by Nikon.

Why doesn't Nikon sell Chinese-made cameras in Japan? The Japanese people are interested in a long-term investment in a camera. Americans, on the other hand, figure that if it is cheap and breaks later, they can just buy another one on credit.

The practice of dumping junk on Americans extends far beyond small appliances, to clothing and even food. Only God can help those who eat tilapia grown in Vietnamese fish farms. And, may God forgive Americans for supporting, with borrowed money, some of the worst labor practices in the world.

United States: 'Too big to fail'?

By William J. Murray
© 2009

AIG, the largest insurance company in the world has been bailed out by taxpayers three times. Although it was "too big to fail," it failed. General Motors also "too big to fail," went into bankruptcy. The great Merrill Lynch brokerage went belly up, but was saved by the taxpayers and given to Bank of America by the Bush administration. In turn, Bank of America had to be bailed out by taxpayers. Citibank has been bailed out more than once, as have other banks that were "too big to fail."

The Soviet Union is gone. In the 1960s and 1970s, the CIA reported that this massive nation that covered almost one-third of the land area of the world was just "too big to fail." Presidents were told by our security agencies that America would face this daunting enemy for generations. By the 1990s the Soviet Union was in the trash heap of history. A nation "too big to fail" had failed, and had broken apart into numerous smaller states that began battling each other.

History is full of nations and empires that were "too big to fail." The Roman Empire is gone; the Holy Roman Empire is gone; the Byzantine Empire is gone. The great British Empire on which "the sun never set" is now a tiny Island in near bankruptcy.

But don't worry: The United States is "too big to fail."

The United States no longer has a real manufacturing base, and almost 90 percent of the economy is based on consumption, mostly of imported goods. But don't worry, our leaders say that the American consumer society is so big it can't fail. The leadership believes that the Chinese and the Saudi royals will continue to loan us money to consume because our nation and our economy are just "too big to fail." Congress and the president believe that the leaders of rich nations understand they must bail out America from time to time, sort of the way American taxpayers had to bail out AIG, GM, Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, Citibank and others.

Denial is not a river in Egypt. Denial is the state in which the American people and the American leadership live. The trillions of dollars the Bush and Obama administrations have spent to "stimulate" the economy have to be paid back from the future income of taxpayers. Translation: Our children and grandchildren are yoked to a huge debt they cannot possibly repay. Far from being too big to fail, the United States has become too big to survive.

The American problem is not just debt, it is the sheer size of the government. The federal government is so involved in so many of the aspects of the everyday life of Americans that it simply cannot keep track of its own activities, or of how much is spent or even how it is actually spent.

I was present in the Soviet Union for the coup and for the Great Collapse. Soviet communism failed because of the size of government. As a nation the Soviet Union simply could not afford to pay all of the accumulated debt, pensions and health care, and also spy on all dissidents and field an army. Despite being an oil rich nation, the Soviet Union collapsed because of central planning and the inability to pay its obligations. Rather than being too big to fail, it was so big it had to fail.

Having witnessed the Soviet failure firsthand, the parallels with the current path of the United States are all too clear. The more the federal government does, the greater its role in our lives, the greater its debt, the higher the taxes, the greater the central planning – the closer we are to failure as a nation-state.

Fortunately the people of the Untied States have a safety net in the individual states. Once our "too big to fail" federal government defaults and fails, the various states will still remain functioning democratic entities. The states will be able to provide the core services needed by the people, including law enforcement and education. When will this happen? Soon enough that state governments should be planning now for the possibility.

March 27, 2009 - Washington, DC

Make it a Crime to criticize Islam? UN says yes / The Obama tax on charitable giving / Congressman writes Clinton again about Iraqi Christians / Congressman warns of UN "defamation of religion" / Abortion mill owner's family wiped out in tragic air crash / Islamberg - A NY town for Muslims only / My appearance on Russia Today / Brussels is one quarter Muslim / The new Clinton petition drive

PETITION TO HILLARY CLINTON ON IRAQI CHRISTIANS - Read and sign the new Internet petition to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The petition urges Clinton to direct our embassies to assist Christians who have fled Islamic terror in Iraq. The petition is located at www.iraqichristianrefugees.org.

THE PRESIDENCY
INTERNATIONAL CRIME TO CRITICIZE ISLAM? - This week the 47-member United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a "defamation of religions" resolution by a vote of 23 in favor, with 11 votes against and 13 abstentions. The United States is not currently a member of the Council. This official United Nations body has collectively spit in the face of religious freedom by passing a resolution that literally calls for banning individual religious freedom. This gives cover to Muslim nations to continue to persecute Christians and other non-Muslims. While the Bush Administration criticized such wanton acts by the United Nations, not a word has come out of the Obama White House. Perhaps Mr. Obama agrees that religious freedom should be eliminated. See Trent Frank's letter in Congress section.

SENATE FAILS TO STOP OBAMA TAX HIKE ON CHARITABLE GIVING - Senator John Thune's "Sense of the Senate" resolution expressing support for the current federal income tax deduction for charitable giving was defeated in the Senate Thursday by just one vote. President Obama wants Congress to reduce the deduction, which would result in less charitable giving nationwide. Read statement from Senator Thune.

THE CONGRESS
CONGRESSMAN TELLS CLINTON AGAIN THAT IRAQI CHRISTIANS NEED HELP - Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA) has written a third and even stronger letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton concerning the conditions of Iraqi Christians. Clinton seems to have ignored the first two letters, which were responded to by a low ranking official at the State Department. Read Congressman Wolf's Letter.

TRENT FRANK'S LETTER ON "DEFAMATION OF RELIGION - The day before the United Nations Human Rights Council voted to criminalize individual rights of freedom of religious expression, Congressman Trent Franks wrote a compelling letter spelling out the dangers of their action. Congressman Franks is co-chair of the Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus. Read letter at his Internet site.

CULTURE AND RELIGION
ABORTION MILL OWNER'S FAMILY TRAGEDY - The tragic plane crash into a Montana grave yard that killed three entire families this past week, has received widespread attention and sympathy. What is not mentioned is that the plane was leased by one of California's largest operators of abortion clinics. The owner of the abortion company often let his family use the plane for pleasure trips, and when it crashed last week he lost two daughters and five grandchildren. The plane crashed into a Catholic cemetery, very near a monument to the victims of abortion. Read more

TOWN FOR CHRISTIANS ONLY? - If a town declared itself for Christians only, there would be outrage from the left. The ACLU and other leftist organizations would file lawsuits and law enforcement would investigate. BUT ... a Muslim only town founded by a man who also founded a terrorist group is just fine with the left and the ACLU. The anti-gun left does not even mind that Islamberg, with just 100 people, has a gun range to practice their skills. Can you imagine what kind of rights the women there have? Don't expect any outrage from NOW or other left leaning "women's groups. Read more

INTERNATIONAL
APPEARANCE ON RUSSIA TODAY - On Tuesday, March 24th I appeared on the television show Russia Today, live during the prime evening news hour in Moscow. The occasion of the segment was to mark the tenth anniversary of the bombing campaign by NATO on Serbia. At the time, President Bill Clinton believed that the establishment of a Muslim nation in the heart of Europe would win America allies. The goal was to remove the province of Kosovo from Serbia and establish it as a separate Muslim nation. Since that time Christians in Kosovo have suffered persecution that has included murders and the destruction of churches built in the 13th and 14th centuries. Click here to view the broadcast of the show I appeared on. NOTE: After Bill Clinton's term ended as president he received tens of millions of dollars in income from Muslim nations. Read more

BRUSSELS IS ONE QUARTER MUSLIM - Filip Dewinter, a leader of the separatist party Vlaams Belang, predicts a civil war when Belgians realize that the capitol city of Belgium and the seat of the European Union government is about to be taken over by Muslims. It is estimated that 3 of the 19 sections of Brussels, which each have their own mayor, are majority Muslim. Can Sharia law be far behind? Read more

CLINTON PETITION DRIVE - The Religious Freedom Coalition has begun a petition drive asking Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to formulate a policy to stop the persecution of Christians in Iraq and to aid those Iraqi Christians who have been forced to flee. More than 100,000 paper copies of the petition have been distributed, and an online version is now available. Click here to see petition! NOTE: This is part of a large petition drive and you may receive a copy in the mail.

THE PRESIDENCY
ILLEGALS LEAVINGS USA - The business wing of the Republican Party, seeking cheap labor, convinced President George W. Bush that he needed to give amnesty to the more than twelve million illegals in the USA. The American people said no, and he and his allies in Congress were forced to back off. The Bush Administration then began to enforce existing immigration laws that had been ignored for years. This was primarily done to show how "cruel" the laws were, in hopes of passing an amnesty bill later. However, enforcing the laws has had an unintended effect. About 11% of the illegals in the United States have voluntarily left. Read more

WE OWE AND OWE AND OWE - Earlier this week the White House announced that the projected Fiscal Year 2009 deficit will be $490 billion, which is a record . The deficit for the current year is expected to be $410 billion. Among the factors contributing to the high numbers are the cost of military expenditures in Iraq and the $170 billion in checks sent to taxpayers to "stimulate" the economy. Hidden in the new Housing "Relief" bill was an increase in the government's limit to borrow from $9.5 to $10.5 trillion. Don't worry about it though, our grandchildren can pay off our debt.

MCCAIN MAY PICK WOMAN WITH BAGGAGE - This morning the Washington Times reported that John McCain may pick either Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) who may be indicted any day for corruption or Carla Fiorina, the former CEO of HP who was fired for nearly running the company into the ground. There are only two possibilities here:tThe story was a plant from the Obama campaign or there was a gas leak in the Washington Times building that has caused mental confusion in the editorial staff.

THE CONGRESS
BROWNBACK ACCUSES CHINESE - "I am very disappointed that the Chinese government will not follow through on its promise to the International Olympic Committee to maintain an environment free of government censorship during the Games," said Senator Sam Brownback. "The Chinese government has put in place a system to spy on and gather information about every guest at hotels where Olympic visitors are staying. This means journalists, athletes' families and other visitors will be subjected to invasive intelligence gathering by the Chinese Public Security Bureau." He made the announcement after learning that hotels had been ordered to install equipment to assist the Chinese to spy on all Olympic teams and visitors.

HOW BAD IS THIS CONGRESS? - Nacy Gibbs's wrote in Time Magazine: "The 260 laws passed by the 110th Congress represent a 30-year low, and they include the naming of 74 post offices, not to mention the nonbinding resolutions designating July National Watermelon Month and recognizing dirt as an essential natural resource." The article went on to point out that Congress has only a 9% approval rating. The worst part, however, is that 40%of voters think the Republicans are still in charge and want them out. They do not know that Congress is being run by San Francisco radical Nancy Pelosi. Read more

FREEDOM OF RELIGION VS DEFAMATION OF RELIGION - Islamic nations want to pass UN resolutions making freedom of speech a crime under the guise of "defamation of religion." Resolutions and laws upholding the "defamation of religions" as a legal principle protect ideas rather than the individuals who hold ideas. "Defamation of religions" measures charge the speaker for expressing his views about a religion. This may sound extreme, but Canada already has such laws on its books and Christians have been punished there for criticism of Islam. Read more
