PRESIDENCY 

NASA'S MUSLIM OUTREACH - The head of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Charles F. Bolden, Jr., explained how President Obama ordered him to make nice with Islam: " ... he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering." Hmmm, what contributions? The "Arabic" numbering system came from India ... AND ... looks nothing like the actual system that we call "Arabic." Constantinople was captured by the Muslims using French made cannons. Six Muslims have won the Nobel prize (three of those were for "peace" and included the mass murdering terrorist Yassar Arafat). On the other hand, 168 Jews have won Nobel prizes. But NASA has the task of showing the world the math and science contribution of Muslims. I get it ... a display of advanced suicide belt bombs at Cape Kennedy! NO COMMENT ON STONING - President Barack Obama and his spokesman Robert Gibbs have a lot to say about almost everything, except atrocities and tortures in Islamic nations. In Iran, women are stoned to death for adultery and other offenses even if there is no evidence other than the hunch of their husbands who may just want to get rid of them. An Azerbaijani mother, Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, who confessed to adultery after receiving 99 lashes in public with a whip, has been sentenced to be stoned to death in June, in Iran. She will be buried up to her neck in a hole and then stoned. Iranian law states that no one stone can be large enough to kill her; that way she may suffer longer before death. Apparently Barack Obama has no problem with Sharia law.

His pick for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, accepted money from the Saudi Royal family to create a Center for "Islamic Studies and Sharia Law" at Harvard University while she was the Dean of the Law School. Because the Center is funded by Muslims, only a positive spin is put on Sharia law at Harvard. The Obama Administration has refused to utter even one word against stoning deaths in Muslim nations. The Religious Freedom Coalition is working with other American and European groups to embarrass the Iranian government in the world media and have Ashtiani released.

THE CONGRESS 

CONGRESS IN RECESS - The House and Senate are in recess. No votes are scheduled in the House until 6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 13th. The Senate will reconvene on Monday, July 12th.
 

CULTURE AND RELIGION 

MICHIGAN COPS ENFORCE SHARIA LAW - No Christians were allowed, and the police enforced the rule. As the crowd shouted "Allah Akbar" four Christian missionaries were arrested on June 18, 2010 by the Dearborn Police at the Annual Arab International Festival. NOTE: 90% of Arabs in the United States are Christians who fled Islamic oppression. Christian Arabs were not allowed at the "Arab" festival. Dr. Nabeel Qureshi, MD, an Arab, was one of those arrested. Three others were arrested for video taping the arrest of Qureshi and their cameras illegally seized. Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented, "It's evident that the Dearborn Police department was more interested in placating Muslims than obeying our Constitution." THE MEDIA AND REALITY - The story I led with in the Presidency section about NASA being tasked with Muslim outreach was on the Fox News Internet site for days. It was carried by many conservative bloggers and was on Fox News TV broadcasts. The NASA Muslim outreach was not mentioned even once on ABC, CBS or NBC news. Meanwhile over at CNN, their editor for Middle Eastern affairs was fired after she showed her blatant bias for Islamic terrorists by mourning the death of a terrorist leader publicly. I seriously doubt CNN would have fired the editor, Octavia Nasr, had not Fox News exposed her public sympathy for the terrorist leader Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah.

INTERNATIONAL 

IRAN BACKED DOWN FROM STONING? - Barack Obama said nothing about the planned stoning death of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said nothing. The National Organization for Women (NOW) seems not to have a problem with killing the woman with stones. But, the rest of the world is outraged and it is front page news all over Europe and Asia. Enough media has reported on it and enough European and Asian leaders have spoken up, that it appears that Ashtiani has been spared, for now. I say "for now" because in the past Islamic nations have postponed this kind of tortuous death until it is out of the news. See BBC report See also video about stoning in Iran made in 2008.

SPECIAL REPORT

MODERATE ISLAM CHASTISES OBAMA- This week I am in Jordan, one of the more "moderate" Islamic nations. Poll results on global opinion were released here today showing Barack Obama with a 26% approval rating in Jordan. Only 15% of Jordanians support his international policies. The vast majority of Jordanians, 81%, believe that NATO troops should be withdrawn from Afghanistan. On the subject of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda, 34% had a positive view and 20% view suicide bombings as justifiable -- which is actually down from ten years ago. NOTE: In neighboring Lebanon, Obama had a 35 percent approval rating, and an astounding 39 percent support suicide bombings. Maybe Barack Obama should give another "Cairo speech" endorsing Islam to boost his ratings here. 

CONVERSION STILL AGAINST THE LAW - Here in Jordan converting from Islam to any other religion is still against the law. Those who aid or "proselytize" converting from Islam to Christianity can face long prison sentences. Birth certificates indicate if a child is born into a Christian or Muslim home and while the national ID card can be changed from Christian to Muslim, it cannot be changed from Muslim to Christian.
 
REALLY CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT - The Religious Freedom Coalition is here in Jordan to inspect and assist ministries we support in Jordan. Unfortunately I cannot go into many details or show photos on the Internet. I can say that the new water system in the camp facility we installed for the summer is working well and that we participated in a large Christian Youth gathering. We also inspected relief operations for Iraqi Christian refugees.

THE PRESIDENCY

IRF APPOINTEE A TOTAL JOKE - That is what one congressional staff member e-mailed me when the "reverend" Susan Johnson Cook was appointed as the Ambassador-at-large for International Religious Freedom. Cook is a typical "whites, Jews and the establishment hold down the black people" preacher from Brooklyn, New York. While her rhetoric is not as harsh at that of Jeremiah Wright, they believe the same garbage. As a female ordained minister she will not be accepted by most Christians in the nations where repression against them is the worst. Muslims will have as much respect for her as they do for Hillary Clinton, which is no respect at all. Cook has no international experience and has no concept at all of the persecution facing Christians. In her new role, I will bet just about any amount of money that in her first major speech she attacks Israel. So why was she picked by Obama? Hillary Clinton demanded that Cook be the nominee. Cook was a major fund raiser and supporter of Hillary Clinton's when she ran for Senate and then for President. Cook was also a member of President Bill Clinton's Domestic Policy Council. In short the office of Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom is now a dead zone. 

THE OIL SPILL - Although in the Middle East, I have been watching in just total awe as President Obama fumbles the oil spill in the Gulf. From day one Obama has used his bully pulpit to attack and cast blame for the spill rather than to take action. While he may think that stopping all drilling in the Gulf is action, the people realize it does nothing to clean up the current mess. The problem is Obama's total lack of executive job experience. His background is all academic in nature, where the job is to analyze and blame, not to take action. Even the liberals attacked his latest speech this week, The left leaning Los Angeles Times wrote about Obama's speech, "There's a pipe spewing a gazillion gobs of oil into the gulf, so let's build more windmills," and far left Keith Olbermann on MSNBC said, "It was a great speech if you were on another planet for the last 57 days". Obama just doesn't get it. As the chief executive it is his job to fix problems not cast blame at others.

CONGRESS

CONGRESS AND MOROCCO - On June 17th, Congressional hearings were held on the continuing persecution and expulsion of Christians from the "moderate Islamic" nation of Morocco. I wanted to be there, but I had commitments in the Middle East and just could not return to Washington. I have written in several updates about the sudden shift of policy against Christians in Morocco. Three of my best friends in Congress, Senator Inhofe and Congressmen Frank Wolf and Trent Franks, testified at the hearings. They hit hard at Morocco, and Senator Inhofe displayed letters he had written to the King on the repression and the expulsions. The King responded to the Senator saying that Morocco had "religious freedom," but that the more than 120 Christians expelled were "criminals" because they sought to convert the "vulnerable" from Islam.

Three Christian "leaders" who have personal interests and special privileges in Morocco, held a news conference trying to spread the tale that yes, those who operate orphanages are criminals and Morocco is a great place for foreign Christians. These "leaders" were: Rev. Rob Schenck, president, the National Clergy Council; Rev. Kenneth Barney, senior pastor, New Antioch Baptist Church, Randallstown, Maryland; and "Rev." Harry Thomas, president, Come Alive Ministries International and producer of Friendship Fest, Marrakech, Morocco. 

CONGRESSMEN DEFEND ISRAEL - The Congressional Israel Allies Caucus held a press conference on June 16th to respond to those, including the Obama Administration, that are calling for investigations and sanctions against Israel. The caucus was represented by co-chairmen, Congressmen Elliot Engel (D-NY) and Mike Pence (R-IN) who were joined by Congressmen Ted Poe (R-TX), Minority Whip Eric Cantor (VA), Shelley Berkley (D-NV) and Pete King (R-NY). About 40 members of the media were in attendance. Republican Whip Eric Cantor said, "Any reports that I have heard over the last 24 hours that indicate that our administration is somehow complicit in an effort to push out a UN resolution calling for and international investigation of the flotilla headed for Gaza is an outrage. We're here not only to urge this administration to veto any such resolution but to stand up, speak out in opposition to such right now." See Cantor statement.  

CULTURE AND RELIGION

REPLACING THE CONSTITUTION WITH A CALIPHATE - Hizb ut-Tahrir America, a radical Islamist group with links to the Muslim Brotherhood and perhaps Al Qaeda, will hold its second annual anti-American recruiting event in Chicago on July 11, 2010. Their first conference in 2009 was called "Fall of Capitalism & Rise of Islam" and had over 500 in attendance. This year's conference is titled, "Emerging World Order: How the Khilafah Will Shape the World." The event will be held in the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook. Obama has the FBI working to track down Christian "militias" so probably the FBI has no interest in a group that openly recruits people to replace our Constitution with a dictatorship of one man called a Caliph.
 

INTERNATIONAL 

NY BOMBER OK BUT HERO TO BE DEPORTED - Masab Hassan Yousef, the son of a leader in the terrorist HAMAS, who became a Christian, is facing a deportation hearing on June 30th. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security views him as "a threat to America's national security," even though he worked as an operative for Israeli intelligence to stop terrorist attacks on Israel and the United States. Yousef, 32, wrote Son of HAMAS a book about his life and conversion to Christianity. The book details how he worked as a secret agent for the Israeli intelligence agency Shin Bet for over a decade to halt terrorist attacks. Meanwhile, Homeland Security saw no problem with would be Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad whose education was paid for by taxpayers. While obtaining US citizenship he was planning to kill American civilians. Each week dozens of Muslims are put in the front of the line ahead of Christians, Hindus and others for immigration to the United States so President Obama can prove to the world that American is not "Islamophobic."

THE PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA A NO-SHOW FOR MEMORIAL DAY - President Obama has decided to head off for a few days vacation over the Memorial Day weekend and will send Vice President Biden to lay the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery. The President will be celebrating the "in-your-face" victory for homosexuals who want to flaunt themselves in the military. With Obama's support, the Department of Defense authorization which passed in the House will force most chaplains out of the services.  
THE BIG UNLUCKY NUMBER - Sometime between now and Memorial Day, the federal debt will hit $13 trillion dollars. That amounts to $42,000 per resident of the USA regardless of age or legal status. If we were to count only adults and those in the nation legally, the debt owed per person would be almost double that amount. The per capita income in the United States was $36,700 last year, meaning that on average, everyone in the nation owes more as their share of the national debt than they make in income for a year.
RATIONING MEDICARE - President Obama's nominee to run Medicare told a group last year, "The decision is not whether or not we will ration care--the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open." Donald Berwick, a professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, was nominated by Obama on April 19, 2010 to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He is a proponent of the public health care system in the UK and has said, "Any health care funding plan that is just, equitable, civilized, and humane must - must - redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and less fortunate." THE CONGRESS 

GAYS IN-YOUR-FACE TO VETERANS- It was only last Tuesday that there were warning signs that President Obama had given the order to Nancy Pelosi to pass "gay in your face" legislation governing the military services just prior to the Memorial Day recess. Before there could be any real organized opposition, the pro-gay Democrat majority passed the "gay in your face" legislation out of committee and placed it on the floor on Thursday night, under rules that allowed changes. The legislation was passed as an amendment to a Department of Defense authorization bill. If passed by the Senate later this session, homosexuals would be allowed to openly solicit sex from members of the same gender in the military. The Democrats could have passed this legislation at any time, but because of the opposition from all veterans groups, they decided to pass it as a parting "in your face we hate you veterans" vote as lawmakers departed for Memorial Day recess. 
HOUSE AND SENATE IN RECESS - Both Houses are in recess and no votes are scheduled in the House until after 6:30 PM on Tuesday, June the 8th, although some members will return on June 7th for committee meetings. As a result, the nation is safe from further moral decay and excessive spending for the next ten days.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

AMERICAN IDOL GOES GAY, THEN GOES DOWN - Just last year American Idol on the Fox TV network was at the top of the charts. Then "in your face" lesbian activist Ellen DeGeneres became one of the judges, and since then the ratings have plunged. Up to that point the strength of the show was family viewers. Country singers were virtually always the most voted for, and ratings for the show were at the top in the South. DeGeneres' statement on the May 14th show, "Yes, I have loved a woman," just about finished off the show for families. Gary McCullough of Christian Newswire predicted back in January that there would be a collapse in ratings at American Idol because of DeGeneres.

INTERNATIONAL 

MORE EXPULSIONS FROM MOROCCO - In last week's update I reported a total of 63 expulsions of foreign born Christians from Morocco. That number has now reached more than 100. Those deported from Morocco worked in various non-profit organizations such as orphanages. The mainstream media in the USA, even Fox News, is ignoring the crackdown on Christians in Morocco in order to keep the myth alive that there are such things as "moderate" Islamic nations.

THE PRESIDENCY

OBAMA OFFICIAL APOLOGIZES TO CHINA FOR ARIZONA LAW - A State Department official apologized to Chinese officials for Arizona's attempt to enforce immigration laws. The official, Michael Posner, said that the Arizona law was part of a "troubling trend in our society and an indication that we have to deal with issues of discrimination or potential discrimination." And how does China deal with their own "immigration issues?" Chinese soldiers have "shoot to kill" orders in dealing with those escaping from North Korea into China. China has concentration camps for those caught in their nation illegally. The nation has virtually no political freedom and the Internet is censored. Instead of criticizing or condemning China's draconian policies, our State Department and the White House defend the Chinese government and their actions.

Arizona Republican Sens. Jon Kyl and John McCain sent a letter to Posner on Tuesday demanding he retract his statement and issue an apology to the people of Arizona. "As the assistant secretary of state in charge of the bureau of democracy and human rights, your remarks are particularly offensive," they wrote. "There is no place for moral equivalency in democracy and human rights policy. The United States is the world's leader in defending the rights of all people. Someone in your position should be proud to proclaim that." Read Politico article  
CAN THEY READ AT ALL? - Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano admitted during congressional hearings that she has not read the Arizona immigration law she has been criticizing on national news shows. At the hearing she asserted that it was "bad law enforcement law" even though she had not read it and only "knew of it." Last week Attorney General Eric Holder also admitted at a congressional hearing that he had not read the law. This admission came after he said the Justice Department may sue to stop its enforcemnent. On TV news shows he said the law would violate rights and that it was a "slippery slope" toward racial profiling. Then State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley also admitted not reading a single word of the bill, while he defended under secretary Michael Posner's criticism of it. This leads us to a burning question: Does anyone in the Obama Administration read anything before they run to the media to talk about it? Obama never read a word of the Health Care bill while he was running around the country promoting it. This is a 'from the top down' problem in the Obama Administration.

THE CONGRESS

PARENTAL RIGHTS - Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) this week introduced S.R. 519, a resolution opposing ratification of the United Nations' Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). This is an effort by DeMint and several co-sponsors to derail the Obama administration efforts to ratify the CRC, which would erase all parental rights, even the right for parents to take their children to church. A committee of 18 non-American "experts" in Geneva would have the authority to issue rules binding American courts and even state legislatures. Because a treaty requires 67 votes in the Senate, only 34 signers to S.R. 519 are needed to stop this insane treaty that would give the power of determining the rearing of American children to foreign bureaucrats. WOLF DEMANDS HEARINGS AS MOROCCO CRACKS DOWN ON CHRISTIANS - Congressman Frank Wolf (R-VA), a champion of religious liberties, has announced hearings on June 17th to investigate the violation of human rights in Morocco, a "moderate" Muslim nation. The deportation of approximately 40 American citizens and many other foreign nationals on charges of proselytism has raised concerns about the status of religious freedom in Morocco. Those deported ran a wide array of humanitarian organizations including orphanages. The Village of Hope, an orphanage that takes in children who have been abandoned by their parents, was one of the targets. Time Magazine reported that "the Village of Hope deportations are part of what appears to be a widespread crackdown on Christian aid workers in Morocco." Meanwhile Congressman Wolf has demanded that the State Department issue a travel advisory for Morocco and suspend some funding. See Wolf letter to Sec. Clinton

CULTURE AND RELIGION  

SUPREME COURT USES UNSIGNED TREATY - In the Congress section above, I related the problems inherent in the Convention of the Rights of the Child treaty (CRC) which the US has not yet ratified. Setting a very bad precedent, this week by a 6 to 3 vote, the Supreme Court used the CRC in a ruling stating that it was unconstitutional to sentence a juvenile to life in prison without parole in non-homicide cases. The Court cited the CRC and other international law in its decision. Michael Farris, head of the Home School Legal Defense Association said, "It is bad enough for the Supreme Court to engage in judicial activism. It is far worse when the justices employ international law in support of their far-reaching edicts. We have not ratified the UN child's rights treaty-its provisions should not be finding their way into Supreme Court decisions." Read more at HSLDA site  
GAY HONESTY IN BRAZIL - The undisputed leader of the homosexual movement in Brazil, Luiz Mott, said on nation TV, "I am an ex-heterosexual in the same way that there are ex-gays, people that were not 100% homosexual. They had some experiences, did not like them and then joined the other side." He further admitted that homosexuals are not born that way by saying, "Usually I say, we need you heterosexuals, we love you so that you may reproduce children to become homosexuals..." I wish American homosexuals were as honest. They relentlessly persecute anyone who publicly proclaims that homosexuality is a choice, not a genetic condition. Maybe Obama's pick for the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan can come out with a statement on the subject during her confirmation hearings.

BITTER CRACK DOWN IN MOROCCO - In the past few weeks Morocco has ordered the expulsion of 23 Christian foreigners, including one American. This is in addition to the 40 workers that have already been expelled this year. Morocco claims that Muslims are being converted to Christianity as a result of the presence of the aid workers, some of whom have been there for decades. Many of those expelled work in orphanages. 
OBLITERATING IRAQ'S CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY - Nina Shea, who serves on the Commission for International Religious Freedom, has written a new op-ed that should be read by every church leader and politician in America. One powerful paragraph says: "Relentless waves of bombings, assassinations, kidnappings, extortions and rapes have triggered a mass exodus of Christians from Iraq over the past seven years. Since 2003, over half of the estimated 1.5 million Iraqi Chaldean Catholics, Assyrian, Syriac Orthodox, and Armenian Christians, as well as some Protestants have fled to Syria, Jordan and farther flung places. While only 3 or 4 percent of Iraq's pre-2003 population, they account for 40 percent of its refugees, the UN reported." Read full article.
