Obama rebels target church in Damascus - Three mortar shells landed in the Qassaa district, killing eight civilians and wounding 24 others. Another three people were injured when a fourth mortar slammed into the Holy Cross church in the neighborhood. Read more
Congress
Congressional resolution supports chaplains - The House of Representatives this week passed House Congressional Resolution 58, which ensures that U.S. military chaplains will be free to exercise their constitutional rights during the government shutdown. Representative Doug Collins (R-GA) sponsored the resolution. He's a former military chaplain in the Air Force. Read more
Former congressman speaks on murder rate - At the Values Voter Summit today Congressman Allen West stated that the United States was number three in murder rates of all nations in the world. However, he said, when the Democrat ruled cities of Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans and Washington, DC were removed from the calculation -- the United States was 4th from the bottom. This illustrates, explained West, why the Biblical values of conservatives matter.

Religious Freedom Coalition at Values Voter Summit - The Religious Freedom Coalition is an exhibitor at the annual Values Voter Summit in Washington, DC. Our booth at the Values Voter Summit this year is focused on our campaign to expose the abuse of Christian guest workers in Saudi Arabia. Many of those attending the Summit are signing petitions asking for Congress to pass a resolution condemning the Saudi abuses. Read more
Report on hostility toward religion in USA - The Liberty Institute and the Family Research Council have just released a report on the dramatic rise in religious hostility in America during the past year. The report, "Undeniable: The Survey Of Hostility To Religion In America," documents 1,200 incidents of hostility to religion - double the incidents in last year's survey. Read more

Syria: Civilian massacre by rebels documented - Human Rights Watch, not known to be a "right-wing" organization, has just published a lengthy report documenting the slaughter of Syrian civilians by Obama's "rebels" fighting in Syria. Entire unarmed families were murdered by Islamic rebels fighting the secular government. Read more
Bangladesh: Bomb factory explodes in Islamic "school" - Apparently Muslims make more than shirts in Bangladesh. An explosion ripped through a madrassa (Islamic school) run by Hefajat-e-Islam, an Islamic fundamentalist group. Police investigating found a bomb making factory - Read more
Indonesia: Christians still jailed for Evangelism - There has been no action by President Obama to ask the government of his boyhood home, Indonesia, to release Christians jailed for years for the "crime" of evangelism. The Religious Freedom Coalition is promoting an online petition to Congress for a congressional resolution asking Obama to intercede to help imprisoned Christians in Indonesia. Read more
UK: Head of M15 warns on Jihadists - Andrew Parker, the new head of Britian's intelligence agency MI5, has recently warned that homegrown Islamic terrorists see the public as legitimate targets for attacks. He is deeply concerned about the Jihadists who have left Britain to fight in Syria. When they return to the UK, they'll be even more dangerous than they were before. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY

OBAMA AND OIL - Mr. President, you are a liar. There are 800 billion barrels of oil just in the Green Rover Formation, three times the total of Saudi Arabia. We note you use the word "proven" when you claim that the USA only has 2% of the world's oil reserves or just 22 billion barrels, but the word "proven" does not include federal lands and all the areas the government has forbidden drilling. Currently the USA produces 8.5 of the world's oil and 40% of the oil consumed in the USA is drilled right here in the USA. The nutty anti-people green agenda of the Democrat Party just will not allow more oil production in the USA.
ROMNEY THE DAY BEFORE ALABAMA - The day before he lost Alabama and Mississippi Mitt Romney said, "Sen. Santorum is at the desperate end of his campaign." Santorum won both states. Fearing a loss in Illinois as well Romney is shifting millions of dollars to buy radio and TV time there. The night of Santorum's win in the south Neal Cavuto on the Fox Business channel had seven Romney apologists in a row to explain how any Santorum victory was actually a Romney victory. It is just a little odd that both the left leaning and right leaning news outlets are pushing Mitt Romney as the GOP candidate.

CONGRESS 

CONGRESSMAN DEFENDS FOOD PANTRY - An Indiana food pantry was recently banned from distributing federal food items because its director routinely offered to pray with clients who had fallen on hard times. Clients received food regardless of their response to the prayer offers, but the organization that administers the federal food program said "The guidelines are no religious (activity) or teaching can be required for providing services." Rep. Todd Young, a Member of the Prayer Caucus, is looking into the situation and according to a spokesperson for his office, "It certainly appears there is a misinterpretation of some rules."

RELIGION AND CULTURE 

SURPRISE: NEW YORK TIMES BIAS AGAINST CHRISTIANS - The New York Times ran an ad by the Freedom from Religion Foundation telling liberal Catholics it was time for them to leave the church. An almost identical ad, with the same format, was sent to the New York Times addressed to "moderate" Muslims asking them to leave Islam. Of course, the Times refused to print that ad. This was such an incredible double standard that the New York Times refuses to even answer media questions about the ads. Read more.

MOROCCO: FORCED TO MARRY RAPIST - A 16-year-old Moroccan girl has committed suicide after a judge ordered her to marry her rapist, according to Moroccan media reports. Last year Amina al-Filali's parents filed charges against their daughter's rapist, a man 10 years older than her but it was only recently that a judge in the northern city of Tangier decided that instead of punishing him, the two must be married. UK: YEAR IN JAIL FOR ISLAM INSULT - On March 6th, 2012 Darren Conway was sentenced to a year in prison for posting anti-Islamic materials in the window of his ground-floor apartment in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. As the BBC puts it, he was "convicted of a religiously aggravated public order offense for putting anti-Islamic literature in his window." This is Sharia law in action. Read more
UK: CHRISTIANS HAVE NO RIGHT TO WEAR CROSS Christians do not have a right to wear a cross or crucifix openly at work, the British government is to argue in a landmark court case. In a highly significant move, ministers will fight a case at the European Court of Human Rights in which two British women will seek to establish their right to display the cross. It is the first time that the government has been forced to state whether it backs the right of Christians to wear the symbol at work. Read more
PAKISTAN: ANOTHER CHRISTIAN WOMEN ARRESTED FOR BLASPHEMY - A Pakistani Christian woman has been arrested and charged with blasphemy-on the same day that human-rights activists delivered a petition to the UN on behalf of another Pakistani Christian woman who faces the death sentence on blasphemy charges. Report From Washington - March 9, 2012

THE PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA, CENTRALIZED GOVERNMENT AND FAITH - Presidential candidate Rick Santorum summed up his message this past Tuesday by saying: "This is an election about fundamental liberty. And the signature piece, the signature piece of legislation that points this out, where you have economic rights created by the government, and then the government using its heavy hand to force you to buy insurance, to force you to take policies that you don't want, and, of course, to force you to take coverages that may even violate your faith convictions..." That is the key: Barack Obama believes that government overrides any individual freedom; that the 'common good' as defined by him gives government the right to not only intrude upon but control the individual actions of each citizen.

ON THIS DAY IN TERRORISM - On March 9, in 1977, 12 armed Hanafi Muslims seized three buildings in Washington, DC, including the City Hall, killing two people and taking 149 hostages. Marion Barry, then a councilman, was wounded. The terrorists demanded that the U.S. government hand over two men and order the destruction of the movie, "Mohammad, Messenger of God," because they considered it sacrilegious.They surrendered after 39 hours. Note to President Barack Obama and Congressman Ron Paul: This was long before "America caused Islamic terrorism" by placing troops in the Middle East.

CONGRESS 

OUTRAGE OVER "POST BIRTH ABORTION" - Congressman Joe Pitts (R-PA) went to the floor of the House to express his outrage over an article in the February edition of the Journal of Medical Ethics titled "After-birth abortion: why should the baby live?" The authors state that "merely being human is not in itself a reason for ascribing someone the right to life." I am sure that Adolf Hitler would agree, if he were alive. He did not ascribe the right to life to any Jew. See Pitts statement.

CONGRESSMEN SUPPORT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM - Amid recent attacks by the Obama Administration on religious freedom, Congressman Jeff Landry (R, LA-03) led a coalition of 79 House Members in sending a letter to the Budget Committee requesting that no funding be allocated to any effort which forces entities to violate their sacred beliefs. The letter urges the Budget Committee to remember the faith of our Founding Fathers and preserve our fundamental religious freedoms. Read more

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM FOR MILITARY CHAPLAINS - Congressman Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) has introduced the "Military Religious Freedom Protection Act." The legislation is intended to codify protections of religious liberty for chaplains and service members following repeal of the policy known as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." The Military Religious Freedom Protection Act states that chaplains cannot be required to perform or participate in any duty, rite, ritual, ceremony, service or function that is contrary to their own conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs or those of their faith group. WHY DOES WALT DISNEY CORP. HATE CHRISTIANS? - The Disney Corporation owns the ABC television network, which just seems to go out of its way to offend both Christians and Jews. As this causes the network ratings to drop, they just to want to double down with with a new series called "GCB." The name has been shortened because of protests about its original title, Good Christian Bitches. The program features three immoral women who attend evangelical churches in Dallas. No Christian should visit any Disney theme park until GCB is off the air. Kraft has already pulled their advertising. You may want to contact ABC and ask them when they expect to air the Muslim version of GCB. TV executives are so fearful of attacks from Muslims that even news casts are tempered with no references to Muslims when hundreds are killed by Muslim terrorists.

PAKISTAN - Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Women from Pakistan's minority communities have a lower level of education but a higher level of infant mortality. They suffer discrimination in the workplace and are the victims of constant attempts at forced conversion or false charges of blasphemy. This was according to a recent report titled "Life on the Margins" on the status of minority women, released by the National Commission for Justice and Peace (NCJP) of the Catholic Church. Read more

SPAIN -Abdeslam Laarusi, an imam at the Badr mosque in Terrassa near Barcelona gave instructions during Friday prayers on how to beat women without leaving marks. The Imam advised using "fists and sticks on various parts of the body" according to investigators. Police investigators said, "He provided concrete examples of the manner in which wives should be beaten, how to isolate them inside the family home and how to deny them sexual relations." Read more

THE PRESIDENCY 

CAN CHURCH BACK DOWN OBAMA? - The political backlash against President Obama's plan to force religious organizations to supply health care policies that include contraception, sterilization and the "morning after" pill has been immense. Make no mistake what all of this is about: Liberals love whales and hate babies. At the heart of liberalism is the belief that the planet is more important than the people on it and to protect the empty plains, bare mountains and desolate desserts the population must be reduced. This ideology is so intrenched in the hard-left that Obama was willing to risk the loss of the Catholic vote to reduce the number of live births in the United States. With Catholics and Bible believing Evangelicals against his people hating philosophy he may be forced to back down. Update: Obama has offered a "compromise" that is a total joke and slap in the face of those who believe in religious freedom.

SANTORUM'S BIG WIN -Let me make it clear that I have never personally supported Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination. During the GOP primary process I have watched with alarm as evangelical voters moved from one candidate to the other in search of "someone who can win" rather that looking at the core beliefs of the candidate. While the Religious Freedom Coalition cannot endorse a candidate I can personally say that I endorsed Rick Santorum before the Iowa caucus because of what he stands for and the life he has lived. Santorum's victory over Romney and Gingrich in three states on Tuesday sent a message to the GOP establishment that real values do matter.

CONGRESS 

LAWMAKERS COUNTER OBAMA MANDATE - Members of the House and Senate are tirelessly working to overturn the Obama mandate to force church based organizations such as hospitals to provide the "morning after" pill to employees. A bipartisan group of Senators filed an amendment to the federal highway re-authorization bill that would have protected religious employers; however, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid blocked the amendment. The language was identical to the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, previously introduced in the House. The HHS mandate tramples on the American legacy of religious freedom. Members of the House Prayer Caucus continue engaging in efforts to overturn it.
AIR FORCE KICKS GOD OFF PATCH - The Air Force removed a Latin reference to "God" from the motto of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (RCO) after receiving complaints from the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers (MAAF). Thirty-five Members of Congress joined Congressman Randy Forbes (R-VA) in sending a letter to the Air Force expressing concern over the decision. The RCO patch, previously displayed the Latin motto that translated into "Doing God's Work with Other People's Money"; however, the Air Force altered it to now read "Doing Miracles with Other People's Money." Especially troubling about the move is the Air Force's implication that the very presence of the word "God" on a military patch-regardless of its context or intent-is somehow unconstitutional.

SUPPORT S-1245 - Senator Roy Blunt has recently introduced the Near East and South Central Asia Religious Freedom Act of 2011 (S-1245) to give Secretary of State the authority to name a Special Envoy to promote the religious freedom of religious minorities in the Near East and Central Asia. The Special Envoy would be an expert in human rights and religious freedom issues and would have the rank of Ambassador. In light of the continued attacks on Christians in Islamic areas of the world it is important to move this legislation forward. Please contact your Senator requesting support of S-1245.

RELIGION AND CULTURE 

CPAC EXPLAINED - I am presently in California and not at CPAC, the Conservative Political Action Conference. CPAC gets a lot of hype from the press but its core has so deteriorated that it is now ignored by most social conservatives. It is basically a libertarian event devoid of family values, an event for college age Ron Paul supporters to party at. For many years I was one of the sponsors of CPAC. That ended several years ago when homosexual groups were invited to participate and any mention of radical Islam was banned. The only Washington conference I now participate in is the Value Voters Summit.

MOVIE GUIDE - As mentioned above I am presently in California working on various projects including a possible documentary movie based on my first book, My Life Without God which is being re-released on the 50 anniversary of prayer being removed from public schools. While here I will support and attend the MovieGuide.org gala held tonight. MovieGuide.org is a Christian organization that is changing the way Hollywood does business. It is my firm opinion that Christians should not go to a movie without first consulting MovieGuide.org.

TURKEY CONVERTS CHURCH TO MOSQUE - When the Ottoman Empire fell and the modern Turkish state was established it was secular and religious political parties were banned. The military was given the constitutional responsibility to guard Turkey as a secular state and as a result it was an ally of Israel. A religious party, one associated with the Muslim Brotherhood, has come to power and the Turkish military has been purged of secularists. Some generals have been arrested and Turkey is no longer a friend of Israel. Persecution of Christians has increased and ancient churches are being converted to mosques. Even the New York Times, a Muslim Brotherhood lover, has taken notice. Read more

A FRENCHMAN TELLS THE TRUTH - French Interior Minister Claude Guéant said this week that he stood by remarks that not all civilizations are equal, as critics denounced his comments as dangerous and xenophobic. "Contrary to what the left's relativist ideology says, for us all civilizations are not of equal value," Guéant said. "Those which defend liberty, equality and fraternity, seem to us superior to those which accept tyranny, the subservience of women, social and ethnic hatred," he said referring to Islam. Read more

MOVE OVER MAFIA THE BROTHERHOOD IS ARRIVING - The southern Italian island of Sicily is about to become the proud new owner of a multimillion euro mega-mosque. The mosque, to be built in the medieval town of Salemi in southwestern Sicily, is being paid for by the oil-rich Persian Gulf Emirate of Qatar. Supporters of the mosque hope it will become a reference point for Muslims in Sicily as well as the rest of Italy. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY

WHAT A CONTRAST - While President Obama and his campaign is championing class warfare and central planning, one presidential candidate is telling Americans that rights come from God and not from government. During the most recent presidential debate in Florida, former Senator Rick Santorum received thunderous applause when he reminded the audience that our rights come from God but in Obama's view our rights come from government which means they can be taken away by government. WHY OBAMA FAVORS THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD - Islamists are coming to power throughout the Middle East with the support of President Barack Obama. The President and a vast array of liberals are in solidarity with Islamists and are enabling their rise to power. In this new book, United In Hate, Jamie Glazov explains the phenomena. THE EGYPT OBAMA MADE - The United States gives Egypt over $2 billion a year, of which about 80% is military aid. The Egyptian military now refuses to allow Sam LaHood, the son of a the Secretary of Transportation, to leave Egypt. He had been working there with the International Republican Institute, a conservative pro-democracy group. It was among 31 groups shut down by the military last month. More bad news: The really bad guys, the Muslim Brotherhood, will take over from the military in a few more months.

CONGRESS 

NO BUDGET IN 1,000 DAYS - It has now been more than 1,000 days since the Senate has passed a budget for our federal government. Although the Republican House has passed a budget the last two years, the Democrat controlled Senate last passed a budget on April 29, 2009. At that time the national debt was $11.15 trillion. Today, the national debt is $15.2 trillion. Every American now owes $48,700, or, another way to put it is that every U.S. household owes $128,300.

RELIGION AND CULTURE 

MUSLIM VIOLENCE IN DEARBORN - In October of last year, Lutheran Westland football team was beating the Star International Academy which is all Muslim, by a score of 47 to 6 at the end of the fourth quarter. It was the last minute of the game and Lutheran's quarterback was going to "take a knee" and run out the clock. Knowing this, the referee had told both teams that there could be "no contact" on the play. As the Lutheran quarterback kneeled with the ball the Muslims busted through the unprepared defensive line and beat him unconscious after taking off his helmet. Read more
STRAIGHT STUDENT BELITTLED BY SCHOOL - A 15-year-old Wisconsin boy who wrote an op-ed opposing gay adoptions was censored, threatened with suspension and called ignorant by the superintendent of the Shawano School District in Wisconsin. Oddly the school had solicited both pro and con op-eds for the newspaper and there was no problem until homosexuals complained. The school then tore out the anti-gay marriage op-ed before distributing the newspaper. The student, Brandon Wegner, is suing the school demanding an apology for "Its unconstitutional and irrational censorship and humiliation." Read more

NIGERIA TO SURRENDER? - Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan, who is a Christian, suggested talks with the Islamic terror group Boko Haram. This comes just a week after Boko Haram attacks killed nearly 200. The leader of the Boko Haram wasted no time in answering the attempt by the Nigerian government to negotiate. Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau flatly said no and then told President Jonathan he must "repent as a Muslim."

CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS WITH ISLAMIC PRAYERS? - A self established sharia court in Jammu and Kashmir in India has asked the state government to take over Christian schools. The decree also asked three Christian priests to leave the state for "luring Muslims in the valley toward Christianity." The Muslims do not, however, want the Indian government to take over their schools. As part of the takeover the Muslims are demanding that the Christian schools start the day with Muslim songs and prayers and have classes on Islam.

CANADA HONOR KILLINGS -On June 30, 2009, Mohammad Shafia, with the help of his wife Tuba and his son Hamed, murdered his three daughters and his other wife in Ontario, Canada. The wealthy Shafia family worked quickly to conceal their actions but police caught up with them. This week CNN reported on the mass honor killing without mentioning the motive. The father of the murdered children had said, "They betrayed kindness. They betrayed Islam. They betrayed our religion and creed. They betrayed our tradition." He added, "Even if they come back to life a hundred times, if I have a cleaver in my hand, I will cut (them) in pieces." He renounced his three daughters for dating westernized men and acting unclean. Incredibly, CNN reported that: "interrogations of the family never uncovered a motive." How about this motive: The killers believe every word and instruction of the Qur'an.
