PRESIDENCY 
KILLING THE MARKETS TO SAVE THEM - Every week for the past six weeks the price of both oil and gasoline has fallen. This week President Barack Obama decided to release oil from the emergency reserves held by the US government. These reserves are for catastrophic situations -- not market interference. The last time the reserves were used was during the Katrina disaster when oil wells in the Gulf of Mexico were shut down. The release of oil, coordinated with other nations trying to "stop speculators" from pushing up the price of oil, caused the stock market to drop almost 2%. Did Obama not realize that traders who buy oil contracts also buy insurance on those contracts? The speculators were not hurt, but those issuing the insurance sure were. Because Obama interfered with the market there has been major disruption in the natural trading order. Oil company stocks, which are the backbone of many retirement funds, fell drastically. The effect on the actual price of gas? About five cents a gallon -- and that is temporary.
DONATE BIG TO OBAMA, GET A BIG JOB - Does Obama reward big money bundlers with jobs, commissions, stimulus money, government contracts, and more? Well, after two years in office nearly 200 of his biggest donors have received government jobs and posts or won federal contracts worth millions of dollars. This according to a study by The Center for Public Integrity which is available on Iwatch.

THE CONGRESS 

SENATORS: PROTECT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN MIDDLE EAST - This week U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (R - MO) introduced legislation that would create a new U.S. Department of State special envoy for religious minorities in the Middle East, aimed at promoting and protecting religious freedoms. U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, is an original co-sponsor of the legislation. Blunt said, "As we observe political upheavals throughout the Middle East, I expect this bill will encourage the State Department to redouble its efforts to call attention to all religious minorities and demonstrate to leaders in the region that the United States takes religious freedom seriously."

RELIGION AND CULTURE 

WILDERS AND FREEDOM OF SPEECH - Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders was acquitted of "hate speech" charges by a Dutch court, after a circus of a trial during which the government attempted to jail him for telling the truth about Islam. Wilders, who leads the third largest political party in the Netherlands, said, "This is not so much a win for myself, but a victory for freedom of speech." It may be a relief to him that he will not spend the next 16 months in jail, but the way in which he was acquitted did not change the law under which he was prosecuted; it is still on the books. DELTA AIRLINES' NO JEWS POLICY - Imagine the protests in the streets if Delta Airlines were to tell Muslims that they could not fly somewhere because the local customs would not permit them to enter that country? Those situations are impossible to conceive because they could never happen, right? But Delta Airlines is facing a similar moral dilemma as they get ready to complete an alliance with Saudi Arabian Airlines. The Delta-Saudi deal means adding Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) to Delta's SkyTeam Alliance. For the first time, this would allow Delta passengers to fly direct into Saudi Arabia, as long as passengers are not Jewish, do not have a passport from Israel or a passport that is stamped from Israel. MUSLIMS KILL AGAIN IN NIGERIA - This past week at least two Christians were killed in an attack on a police station in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. This is the first suicide bombing outside of the Islamic controlled north of the country and shows that the Islamic terror organization Boko Haram is expanding its operations. Previous killings of security officers, politicians and clerics have occurred in the Muslim north where the group is trying to enforce strict sharia law. The name of the group translates as "Western education is sacrilege." RELEASE ASIA BIBI NOW - Pakistani Christians are demanding the release of Asia Bibi, mother of five, who has been falsely accused of blasphemy and jailed for nearly two years. Blasphemy laws in Pakistan are used to blackmail Christians and steal their homes and land. This is just one more outrage. More at Pakistan Christian Post

PRESIDENCY 

OBAMA DROPS THE CREATOR - In a little more than one month President Barack Obama has misquoted the Declaration of Independence three times, and each time he has deliberately deleted the "Creator." On October 18th Obama said, "As wonderful as this land is here in the United States, as much as we have been blessed by the bounty of this magnificent continent that stretches from the Atlantic to the Pacific, what makes this place special is not something physical. It has to do with this idea that was started by 13 colonies that decided to throw off the yoke of an empire and said, 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that each of us are endowed ... with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.'" Where the three dots appear Obama deleted the words, "by their Creator." The same thing happend on September 23 at a Democrat fundraiser in New York City. All three times Obama was reading from a teleprompter so this was no accidental omission. See video of September 15th incident.
 

THE CONGRESS 

CONGRESS ADJOURNED - The House and Senate have now both officially adjourned until after the November 2nd election. 
WHO IS BIGGEST ELECTION DONOR? - This should not be a surprise. The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), which has 1.6 million members, is spending a total of $87.5 million on the November 2nd election. They are so desperate to keep Democrats in office that they have tapped their 'emergency account for $16 million and borrowed another $2 million. The union is spending the money on television advertisements, phone calls, campaign mailings and other efforts. Indeed the AFSCME is spending far more than the Chamber of Commerce which has been targeted by President Obama as being an evil outside organization trying to affect the election outcome.

CULTURE AND RELIGION 

JUDGE ROBERT BORK - On Wednesday of this week I was privileged to attend an Alliance Defense Fund awards breakfast in which Judge Robert Bork received the Edwin Meese award for his faithful struggle in the cause of originalism. As a law professor and a judge his writings pointed to the fact that judges free of originalism could interpret the Constitution as they pleased and render any verdicts to fit their personal agendas. Bork may have been unjustly refused a seat on the Supreme Court, but he opened a discourse on the Constitution that continues today.  
NPR FIRES JUAN WILLIAMS - I don't always agree with liberal news commentator Juan Williams, but I do admire the fact that he is logical and sticks with issues rather than personal attacks as do most other liberal commentators. Apparently he is too logical for the publicly funded National Public Radio (NPR) which fired him this week. He was fired for saying that being on airline flights with Muslims who deliberately identify themselves by dressing up in Muslim garb makes him nervous. On the other hand an NPR commentator who wished AIDS on the children of a conservative Senator is welcome at NPR. The reality is that NPR fired Juan Williams after getting a donation of $1.8 million dollars from George Soros to "investigate" conservative journalists on Fox News. Juan Williams is a frequent liberal commentator on Fox. While Soros' desire to harm the Fox Network was the main reason behind the firing of Juan Williams I am sure that an e-mail campaign by a Muslim group associated with the Muslim Brotherhood helped as well.

NO 911 MOSQUE!

SAUDI PRINCE DUMPS RAUF The New York Times reported this week that Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal is now against the Ground Zero mosque. Alwaleed's Kingdom Foundation has long supported financially Feisal Abdul Rauf, the alledged "spiritual guide" of the Ground Zero mosque. He has donated more than $200,000 to Rauf's American Society for Muslim Advancement (ASMA). Alwaleed told the Times, "I am not for putting a mosque there." He gave two reasons, first that he thinks the construction would offend the families of 9/11 victims and second that it is near a strip club that would offend Muslims as they went to pray there.

MUSLIMS BOMB BUS IN PHILIPPINES - Ten people have died and fifty were injured when Muslims exploded a bomb on a bus in a rural area of the southern Philippines. Muslim gangs there have threatened to plant bombs to extort funds from Christians. The wounded were brought to hospitals in North Cotabato province. In the last month Muslims have attacked innocent civilians in other areas of the Pacific including Thailand and China.  
CHURCH ATTACKED IN PAKISTAN - More than ten armed Muslims attacked and vandalized a Church next to the Gordon College in Rawalpindi October 20th. The pastor and his family were tied up while Muslims desecrated Holy Bibles and threw away Hymn Books. The chapel of the college itself was similarly attacked in 2009.
