THE PRESIDENCY

THE CHAVEZ IN OBAMA - Venezuela had a free press until just a few years ago. At first Hugo Chavez, the far left Fidel Castro-loving president of Venezuela, criticized the media that opposed him. Then his supporters arranged advertising boycotts. Then the news studios were invaded by Chavez sympathizers. Then Chavez shut down radio stations that "lied" about him. Then entire TV and radio stations had their broadcast licenses revoked. MEANWHILE: In the USA President Obama and other White House officials have been critical of Fox News and have refused to appear on any Fox News programs. Leftist supporters of Obama have called for advertising boycotts against Fox News programs such as the Glenn Beck Show. FOX CENSORSHIP BACKFIRES - I really wish I could have seen the expression on Barack Obama's face when he got the news that the liberal media would not go along with his censorship attempt against Fox News. On Thursday "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg was made available for interviews to the White House media pool (except for Fox News). Stunned by the blatant attempt at media manipulation, the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks decided that no one would participate in the Feinberg interview unless Fox News was also allowed to participate. The Obama Administration was forced to relent and include Fox News. Read more

THOUGHT CRIMES PASSES HOUSE - A total of 131 Republicans voted against the Department of Defense Authorization bill because of the far left social agenda legislation in this bill, including "hate crimes" legislation. Democrats will now use the vote to claim Republicans voted against "funding the troops." We need to stand by the brave men and women who held onto their convictions and voted against a radical social agenda even though they placed themselves at political risk. THOUGHT CRIMES PASSES SENATE - Senate Democrats followed radical House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in adding "Thought Crimes" legislation to the must-pass military spending bill. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) said, "The inclusion of the controversial language of the hate crimes legislation, which is unrelated to our national defense, is deeply troubling." And Senator Jim DeMint, (R-SC) said the bill would "serve as a warning to people not to speak out too loudly about their religious views." If signed into law by Obama it will be tested by thousands of religious leaders in the United States who will preach a message that homosexuality is immoral. Let's see how many of us Obama can jail!
SENATOR SAYS NO TO COUNTING ILLEGALS - Do you want your state to lose congressmen to southern California because several million illegals live there? Senator Vitter (R-LA) has presented an amendment to a spending bill for the Census that would allow only those legally in the country to be counted. Without his Amendment, his state and several others will lose congressmen to areas with large illegal populations that don't even have the legal right to vote. Read more. WHAT CAN'T BE STOPPED: Many pro-illegal groups want the census to DOUBLE the count of Hispanics so those who "hide" will be counted. What if every legal citizen in the USA added just one non-existant" person to their census form? Would that make up for all the illegals being counted? Just a thought.
THE PRAYER CAUCUS -Congressman Randy Forbes and the Prayer Caucus consistently fight for the religious heritage of our nation. The group, led by Forbes, successfully had "One Nation Under God" placed in the new Congressional Visitor Center and has filed briefs in the Supreme Court to defend religious sites in the nation. LIBERALS GIVE BAD REVIEWS OF BOOK BEFORE IT'S RELEASED - Check out "The Right Hook: From the Ring to the Culture War" by my friend Matt Barber at Amazon.com and you will see all sorts of negative reviews written by left-wingers. Only one problem: the conservative pro-family book has not been released yet, and those writing these reviews could not possibly have read it! Many of the attacks on the book are actually personal attacks on Barber, which figures, because liberals are incapable of debating ideas and concepts. Read more  
THE LEFT LOVES TO CENSOR - I have reported on conservative Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders and his film Fitna, which reveals the dark side of Islamic violence. He was refused entry into Great Britain because of the "hate" he exhibited by quoting verses from the Koran. (He won that case and entered the UK last month.) Liberals who support radical Islam showed up at Temple University this week to shout down and boo him. His greatest sin, as seen by liberals, was saying that "our Western culture is far better than the Islamic culture and we should defend it." Often liberals will show up at campus events for the sole purpose of censoring conservative speakers, many times with violence. Read more See related story about BBC
GAYS WANT NAMES AND ADDRESSES IN ORDER TO ATTACK PEOPLE - Homosexuals have demanded the names and addresses of those who are supporting traditional marriage in the state of Washington. They want the names to launch personal attacks and start boycotts of businesses as they did in California. This week the Supreme Court in an 8-1 vote, issued an order preventing the release of the names and personal information of over 138,000 signers of a pro-marriage referendum petition. The order will prevent homosexual hate groups from posting the information online and calling for violent acts against the signers. Read more

NOT IRAQI ENOUGH? - Not wanting to admit that Iraqi Christians were persecuted, the Bush Administration gave immigration status to ten times as many Iraqi Muslims as Christians. While Christians lived in fear and poverty in Iraq, Jordan and Syria, Muslim Iraqis were given an entrance to America. THE RESULT: A Muslim Iraqi father ran down his daughter in Arizona because of her "Western values." The media in Arizona refused to refer to Islam and instead said the act was because she wasn't acting "Iraqi" enough. Hmmm. Christian Iraqis moving to the USA don't seem to have problems like this. When will the government recognize what has happened and help those who need help -- the Iraqi Christians? See story

Rather than Christians returning to Iraq, more are making their way to Jordan and Syria. Our ministry is barred from operating in Syria, but our feeding and medical program continues in Jordan. A third shipment of medical supplies has been delivered, and last week we funded our feeding program in Amman for another three months. Your help is still needed.

THE PRESIDENCY

MUSLIMS AT HOMELAND SECURITY - Barack Obama has appointed Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Arif Alikhan, a Muslim, as Assistant Secretary for the Office of Policy Development at the Department of Homeland Security. During his years in Los Angeles, Alikhan derailed police plans to monitor radical mosques and madrassas. The 9-11 terrorists had some support from Los Angeles.

Alikhan is anti-Israel and has called Hezbollah a "liberation movement." The US government still has Hezbollah on the official terrorist list. He is also associated with the Muslim Public Affairs Council which has some connections to the Muslim Brotherhood according to various sources.

Earlier this year Secretary Napolitano, who heads Homeland Security, swore in Syrian-born Kareem Shora to a position on the Homeland Security Advisory Council. This is an outside-the-department group of national security experts that advises the Secretary. Shora, an immigration attorney, is associated with the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, a group founded by James Zogby. His primary focus is to stop the profiling of radical Muslims by law enforcement agencies.

KILL THE JEWS - Sit back, close your eyes and just imagine what would happen if a Christian hosted an Internet site that had a headline saying, "KILL THE HOMOSEXUALS." Immediately, the New York Times, Washington Post, ABC, CNN, CBS and NBC would run multiple stories exposing the "hatred." A boycott would be run against Internet providers that carried this "hate speech." Now open your eyes to a real New York site that says, "KILL THE JEWS." Hmmm ... No stories in the New York Times or the Washington Post. No calls for boycotts of Internet service providers by CNN. "KILL THE JEWS" or "KILL THE CHRISTIANS" is just a part of free speech. What was it again that Glenn Beck said that caused the advertising boycott against him? Maybe if instead he had said, "KILL THE JEWS," the liberals would not have started their advertising boycott at all. THE PRESIDENCY

THIRTY CZARS AND COUNTING - The "czar" situation at the White House is getting out of hand. There are now thirty czars, with President Obama looking for more. They have been given decision making power that is normally reserved for departments that are funded and controlled by acts of Congress. Some of the czars, such as Science Czar John Holdren, are just flat scary. In the past, Holdren has said forced abortions may be needed to save the planet from mankind. He sees people as a threat to the Earth. The "Terrorism Czar," John Brennan, has a long history of hostility toward the CIA. And let's not forget the unfathomable choice of Kevin Jennings as the "Safe Schools Czar." Jennings once said, "One of the people that's always inspired me is Harry Hay." Hay is the founder of NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association) which promotes homosexual sex between older men and young boys. Most of these czars are unvetted. They did not have to answer any questions from Congress, nor did they have to pass security clearances. Some have actually belonged to communist affiliated organizations, and one has praised Hugo Chavez as a model for the rest of Latin America.  

OBAMA TO ISRAEL: "SHRINK AND DIE" - Obama wants Israel to shrink itself to a size smaller that the total area of Houston, Texas. He believes that the Muslims, who already control 99% of the Middle East plus parts of Asia and Europe, must be given the land that Jews fought and died for to make "peace." Israel has been shrinking itself at the insistence of both Democrat and Republican presidents since Jimmy Carter. The result has been more terrorist attacks, not only on Israel but on the United States. Osama bin Laden, in his many statements, has made it clear that the 9-11 Jihad attack on the USA was punishment for supporting the very existence of Israel, regardless of its size.
 
HILLARY CLINTON AND ANTI-SEMITIC LEADERS - Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez has been influenced by his good ally Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and it appears the leftist movement in Latin America is moving toward the persecution of Jews. David Romero Ellner, a leftist supporter of ousted leftist president Manuel Zelaya in Honduras said, "Sometimes I ask myself if Hitler wasn't right when he wanted to finish with that race, through the famous holocaust, because if there are people that are harmful to this country, they are the Jews, the Israelites." Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama are supporting the return to power of Zelaya and his hateful anti-Semitic administration. He was removed legally by the Honduran Supreme Court after he tried to give himself a lifetime term as President, as did Chavez in Venezuela. Many Jews in Central America are now headed toward the United States and Israel because of the fear of persecution. Read more

THOUGHT CRIMES IN DEFENSE BILL- "No one doubts that the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010 is an important piece of legislation. Its essential elements will provide for our troops the critical resources they need to accomplish their mission. However, the Majority in this Congress has cynically included hate crimes provisions in this legislation that threaten the very freedoms of speech and religion that draw our soldiers into the uniform of this nation." Those were the words of Congressman Mike Pence as he announced he could not vote for the Defense authorization bill because radical Nancy Pelosi added language that criminalized speech. CULTURE AND RELIGION

SALAZAR VS. BUONO - That is the title of the case that was heard before the Supreme Court this week concerning a war memorial in a Mojave Desert federal park. Secularists and atheists want the memorial to fallen American servicemen torn down because it is in the shape of a cross. So far the atheists and the secularists have prevailed in lower courts. The case is very significant in that virtually every federal cemetery in the nation, including Arlington National Cemetery, has crosses. Virtually every grave in Arlington either has a cross or Star of David. The Supreme Court itself has several reliefs on the building and in the Court itself depicting religious faith. Should the Court side with the secularists and atheists, every religious symbol in our nation on public land would be in danger of removal. On Tuesday, October 6th I was one of the presenters at a press conference next to the Supreme Court. The purpose of the press conference was to remind the Court, the press and the nation of the Judeo-Christian foundations of our nation. See video of press conference here

US/UN APPROVE BLASPHEMY LAWS - Back in August I reported in this update about how Muslims rampaged in the Christian area of Gojra, Pakistan killing at least seven Christians and injuring many more. More than 100 Christian homes were looted and burned because of an unsubstantiated rumor of "blasphemy." Muslims accused the Christians of misuse of the Quran. There have been no arrests. Blasphemy laws in Pakistan are used against Christians and others when Muslims want to steal land or settle other disputes of revenge. Blasphemy laws are a tool against free speech in Islamic nations. Oddly the Obama Administration has now sided with Muslim nations in the UN who want to silence a free press worldwide.

The United States voted for a UN resolution which would be considered unconstitutional under our First Amendment . The UN Human Rights Council adopted the anti-blasphemy resolution that was sponsored by Egypt and the US. Read more  

MORE PAKISTANI PERSECUTION - This year a billion and a half of our taxpayer dollars will be given to Pakistan despite the fact that audits show that 80% of aid is lost to corruption. Meanwhile Christians continue to face persecution. Murders of Christians and the destruction of Christian homes is becoming ever more frequent. Yet, the Obama Administration refuses to put restrictions on the use of the aid money that would bring some relief to the persecuted. Read more

THE PRESIDENCY

OBAMA SINGS "CHICAGO, CHICAGO" - Barack Obama running errands for the Daley political machine in Chicago is like Nero fiddling while Rome burned. Chicago has been run by the Daily family for nearly a century. The current Mayor Richard Daley told Barack Obama to take Air Force One and run over to Copenhagen and plead for Chicago to have a turn at hosting the Olympics. Obama's wife Michelle also made a the plea to Olympic Committee, but she didn't ride on Air Force One. Oprah Winfrey gave her a lift on her private jet which is actually more luxurious than Air Force One, although a little smaller. While Obama was overseas pleading like a third world dictator for an Olympic game a decade in the future, the official unemployment rate hit 9.8% while the real rate hit at least 17%. In the end Obama lost the bid to Rio de Janeiro and headed home after only five hours with his tail between his legs. The total trip lasted 20 hours and cost the taxpayers over one million dollars. REAL UNEMPLOYMENT AT LEAST 16% - Officially the unemployment rate rose to 9.8% in September as another quarter of a million jobs, mostly in manufacturing, were lost in America. However, one Fed official places the rate at 16%, and even that rate does not include the self employed, such as carpenters, masons, and tradesmen of all kinds who can find little or no work. It also doesn't include people who are working many fewer hours than they would like. Dont' worry though -- President Obama and radical left Speaker Nancy Pelosi have a solution: A huge tax on energy production and manufacturing. They plan to save the planet from carbon dioxide (the stuff plants need to grow) by implementing a "cap and trade" program. Refineries and energy producers will have to pay huge sums of money to continue to produce electricity or manufacture trucks. Meanwhile the EPA, now controlled by Obama, has refused to issue permits for 79 new mountaintop coal mines putting thousands of people out of work in West Virginia and Kentucky.

THE CONGRESS

72 HOUR RULE - Before taking office Barack Obama promised transparency and honesty in government. Apparently members of his Administration, along with Democrat leaders in Congress, didn't get the memo. House Members were given only 12 hours to review the 1,073-page long stimulus bill that cost $787 billion. Most people probably give more thought to buying a used car. The cap and trade bill, which would cost $846 billion and weighs in at 1,428 pages, was available for only 16.5 hours before the vote. To slow down this steamroller process, Congressman Greg Walden is pushing H. Res 179 that would require a full 72 hours after a bill has been finalized and made available to Members, before it could be voted on. So far 182 members have signed a discharge petition to force radical left Speaker Nancy Pelosi to allow a vote on the H. Res 179. Read more  

ACORN IS TAX EXEMPT - Congressman Todd Tiahrt (R-KS) has offered a resolution in the House stating that ACORN should be stripped of its tax exempt status because of its numerous violations of the law. In his H.Con.Res. 192, Tiahrt lists various election law fraud cases against ACORN as well as its acceptance of funds from Obama's political campaign as reasons for the far left organization to lose its exemption. Since 1994 ACORN has received $53 million in funding, most of it while Republicans controlled Congress. Now that the Democrats are in control, the Republicans have figured out that ACORN is a criminal enterprise. NEWS FLASH: ACORN has always been a criminal enterprise! Read more
 
OBAMA CARE BILL - Most of my work on Capitol Hill involves issues of religious freedom. However, in order to advocate for those issues, I have to be present at wide ranging meetings that cover many other subjects; hence my ability to write this update each week. The health care issue comes up at virtually every briefing I attend with congressmen and Senators. After listening to countless briefings and discussions, I have been able to reach a conclusion as to three major results that will ensue from the final health care bill. The final health care bill will: 1. Cut Medicare benefits 2. Raise taxes, 3. Be over 1,000 pages long. Regardless of promises from Barack Obama, it will pay for a full range of "reproductive health care procedures," which is liberal speak for abortions and sex-change operations.

CULTURE AND RELIGION

MUSLIM MARCH A FLOP - Muslims claim to outnumber Jews in the United States. I have always known the six million figure which Muslims claim is bogus, because so many people of Arab descent in the United States are Christians who fled Islam. I was very skeptical about the claim that 60,000 American Muslims were going to march on Washington, in an event called "Our Time Has Come". The official estimate for the march turned out to be about 8,000 people. Prior to the march, social conservatives, including myself, requested that the Muslim organizers publicly disavow terrorism. They didn't. Read the group letter demanding that organizers renounce terror before the march.

IRAN'S AHMADINEJAD A JEW? - The news is astonishing. The mad Iranian leader who just days ago at the United Nations denounced the Holocaust as a fabrication, has been discovered to have been born a Jew. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's real family name is Sabourjian, a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver. His family converted to Islam when he was four years old for "economic" reasons. If the Mullahs run him out of Iran because of his Jewish blood, I wonder if he will plead for mercy from Israel and ask for asylum. Read more .... I thought the anti-Israeli Jews in the Obama White House were a phenomena, but this revelation makes them pale by comparison.  

IRAQI CHRISTIAN REFUGEES - The persecution of our brothers and sisters in Christ who fled Iraq has gotten worse since our troops left the cities. Rather than Christians returning to Iraq, more are making their way to Jordan and Syria. Our ministry is barred from operating in Syria, but our feeding and medical program continues in Jordan. A third shipment of medical supplies has been delivered, and this week we funded our feeding program in Amman for another three months. Your help is still needed.
